It has tested all of us at some stage. Good luck.

The "link your booking" is to link your booking to other passengers, handy if you are travelling in a group and want to eat together & communicate on the ship via the app. Yes, they could explain that a bit better.

The ‘issue’ is that for every item I select it asks to Link Your Booking….. there’s no capacity to do anything…it won’t allow selection of a single thing.

    select medallions…nope…link

    Dropdown for nationality…nothing no countries.

reading the Android comments… yep if there was zero stars it would get that from me.

    INTERESTING....

I'm just look at that UTTER PIECE OF GARBAGE - and I thought that I would come to this forum to see it at the top listed item

REALLY - a big COMPANY can't produce an app that isn't as crap as this ??

'Link your booking' - why when you already have it on the profile

'Enter name details' - when the fields wont work.

'Update your personal details' - how many times ?? because it never saves

    LOADING LOADING...

Oh... and I have this on my Oppo phone and iPad - nothing works

    GARBAGE

  3. Brisbane CBD to new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal

    https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/cruising-is-back-new-brisbane-terminal-finally-welcomes-passengers-20220602-p5aqlb.html

I wasn't actually aware that there was a new cruise terminal (used the previous one in 2018 pre COVID) - it was only the news on the P&O cruise to Brisbane that it mentioned the new site....now...  it's 19Kms from the CBD

No public transport - I guess that it's basically a taxi / Uber :  what $$ are we looking to get there from the CBD ??

(why the bloody hell dump it out there with NO TRANSPORT options ??????)

Fail to PLAN of these THOUSANDS

Schrinner said Brisbane was expecting 150 ships to dock at the terminal in the next 12 months.

“Think about the thousands of people that will come off those 150 ships,” he said.

“They’ve done the maths. Each person spends about $387 on average in Brisbane when they get off the ship, so that then flows right out into the local economy, creates jobs, supports local business, and that is an exciting day today for our city.”

  4. Sitting at Brisbane port looking to get on board... so much for the 1.30 check in..... We are priority number 6.... that must mean we’ll wait til they fix their IT PROBLEMS... HONESTLY SUCH A PITIFUL EXCUSE

there appears to be a mix of itineraries.... we are going Bris to Syd... with a few others from our TripADeal package.... some others are extending to NZ

    we have a balcony

    WILL POST PICS FROM SUNDAY

This post will cover embarkation in Sydney.

Captain Cook Cruises run a ferry service from the Quay to White Bay, however, it was only once I arrived that I found out that they don’t run the service on a Sunday, which, of course is turn-round day for Explorer Dream.

we are joining it from Brisbane next Wed...2 nights into Sydney

however I’m lead to believe the the ferry is to King St wharf (Wynyard) and not the Quay

ive dropped Captain Cook an email... to see if they still do Sunday’s...

Sorry but according to NCL, we will not Tender as the ship will dock on Dec. 21st and we be able to get on and off. It will not anchor.

thanks - kinda 'strange' - more so for us Sydney residents... you can hop off.. take a few things home . maybe pick up a few fresh clothes... and head back for the last night on board 🙂

I expect you will be at anchor the first day with Tender to shore an Dock the second day for disembarkation.

Sydney Ports are reporting that the ship is at Circ Quay - so I do that this 'end of cruise' a little weird...

... anyway... considering this cruise at the moment....  (which will be a few days after having 2 days on Explorer Dream from Bris to Sydney.. might need something else decent to do after reading some of the ED comments..

    Hi Boeckli,

Noticed that you live in the Sydney area. Can you please give information on the wildfires? I am scheduled on the Dec 1 cruise and then plan to spend a week in Cairns & Sydney area after disembarking. Would like to get an "insiders" idea of what the situation is and your opinion on how it might be in a few weeks.

    Thanks!

These fires are NO where near Sydney - they are several KMs north - and the only impacts Sydney would be getting is haze / pollution...... which we have had in recent weeks.

As for what the situation will be like in a few weeks..  who knows...  the fires may have burnt out ... but you'll find that we have moved into early summer here.... and with less rain.

Conditions today are expected to be bad in the regionals - mainly due to existing fires.. and high winds.

  8. Given that my contract is now ending.. on my the hunt for some cheap quick cruises at the end of November / December (yes it's a rotten time when suddenly you are given notice and you miss all of those other deals)

However - Norwegian Jewel - 11 Dec from Auckland to Sydney...

.... but ..  it arrives in Sydney on the Sat 21st 0600 - and you disembark on the 22 Sunday.

Most stupid question -  why ?

can you get off on the Saturday... have a bit of a walk around town and then head back to the ship for dinner / show overnight - then formally disembark on the Sunday  ( ***noting I'm a Sydney / Shire resident) - OR - are you 'captive' for that Saturday - and you can't get off but just remain on the ship ???

Thanks, watched the video now and it's pretty good. Makes me look forward to the cruise. The only thing is that gym isn't great, not a lot of equipment. The fitout/refurb looks good overall though!

The gym is right next to the pool area (though glassed off).  I'm only on for 2 nights..  but given a trip last week to BKK (and putting on a few kgs 😞  after months of fasting) - I'll spend some time in there.. though it looks sparse.

The review - whilst not praising - has mentioned the Blue Lagoon (a paid restaurant) - but whilst its noted a price of $8 - it didn't give much detail.

It's 5 Wednesdays away before we get on board.. hopefully a few things will get ironed out in that time.

  10. This has arrived.... but no reviews as yet..

ive found a Russian video from a Chinese cruise....l it at least shows some aspects of this ship - from last month.

theres one dining option, called the Blue Lagoon which is a paid option, but looks like they should / could have had it as part of the included... just another buffet type

Trying to figure out if we should pre book a shuttle or how the best way to get from the Sydney airport

    to our hotel on Sussex.

The from Royal Caribbean to the airport after our cruise.

    Options....

The easiest option is the train - 1.... it's reliable 2.... reasonably priced (granted we have a surcharge on it).  Sadly - if you are in peak times - you might not get a seat... that's out pathetic rail system that combines suburban trains with the airport ones.

If you are in Sussex Street - the stops are with Wynyard or Town Hall - and the airport train stops at both - so no need to change.  Just google maps and check the closest one.

Getting to the Circ Quay departure..  depending on the time... it might be easier just to walk than trying to get an Uber to navigate all of the one way streets.. road closures.. Sydney has become a maze.

At the end of the cruise - that's FAR FAR EASIER.. just walk from the Overseas Terminal over to Circular Quay - a few min walk.. and catch an Airport Train. Don't bother with a taxi from that part of town... the cost.. the time..  it's just going to be a pain in the ****  Just have an Opal card and get to the airport in about 15-20mins.

It all really depends on the time that you get out of Sydney airport.. and the relative convenience.

Sydney Airport and the surrounding areas / streets get CONGESTED... and it's getting worse. Arrival on a Sat / Sun will make it worse... the morning peaks are the worst.

  12. Explorer Dream -  2019 Australia Cruises

Thought I would start a thread on this ship...... given that there is nothing on this site at the moment.. no reviews.. no comments.

I'm giving this a short try out in December - as part of a Tripadeal package (Sydney / Brisbane / Sydney -  fly to Brisbane, 2 nights accom - then  2 night cruise back to Sydney - was about $719 for a balcony and the whole package)

    https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/20617-explorer-dream-debuts-with-new-look.html

This of course was the old Virgo

I have no idea what it's going to be onboard... dining options etc...  but .. if anyone else has booked and beats me to our December sail...  drop some feedback on here.

Very simple, just email Cruise Critic, tell them your current email address (the one on file) and what you’d like to update it to:

    help@cruisecritic.com

    I'm in the same situation........

Why is it not possible to 'update' your own email address field in your profile ?  - rather than resorting to 'emailing' a support desk to update this data element ?  (creating more work for that person)

I would expect that type of user / profile functionality to be available.

(instead - going to have to go down the email to advise path)

Booking directly with the cruise line almost guarantees that you will pay more and get less.

Right now, that Ovation OTS cruise in listed on a major cruise consolidator website for $815pp for an inside along with $125 in OBC, $815pp for an OV with $125 in OBC,  and $821pp for a balcony with $175 in OBC.

this couldn't be an Aussie site... not at these prices.

HAL are having what they call a Cyber Sale at the moment.

Best of the bunch as far as I could see is:

Masdaam, Dec 8th, Auckland to Sydney, 13 nights

    $991 Inside

    $1088 Window

Does the usual ports plus New Plymouth, Nelson and Kaikoura.

Includes gratuities and $25 beverage card.

they've been trying to flog this cruise for a while now....  look at a post on page 107 from Tara Jane on the 30.10.2018

and I know we are 'cheap' on this thread... but ..  a '$25 beverage card' ??  gee... they are going gangbusters to fill this one with that offer.../s

Unless you have FF points - the Auckland flight part will be expensive.

  17. Just had an email through for some last minute Cunard sailings - interior only available.

    Queen Elizabeth, 28 Feb 2018 - Sydney to Osaka - 15 days - $849 per person

Makes it ESEA to go CRUISING!

WOW...I've been looking at Japan lately.... with that price i could almost consider buying a suit so that i don't get bounced for wearing shorts at meals (as though a suit helps me digest my meal). Pity Cunard doesn't have a FlowRider.

  18. We will be on Quantum of the Seas out of Shanghai in June as part of a trip we got great deal on which gives some days in China and then short cruise to Japan. So i too am interested in what the experience will be like with mainly Chinese clientele. I am aware that it will be different to sailing from Australia and know that there will be at least a group of non chinese as the tour of china we will be doing is with TA based here in australia. any info how the experience will differ would be much appreciated.

just have a read of the Quantum reviews.. SHOCKED .. and whilst I've noted a few deals for Japanese cruises from China - I think I'll reconsider - given the number of chinese (yes - the cruise is based from there) and the overall general 'behaviors' as noted in the reviews.

We did Voyager from HK to Singapore a year or so ago - and the nationality mix was mainly Australian, English, American and to a lesser extent Asian.

How can one put it - if you reside near a heavily populated area in Australia with this nationality - you may 'have experienced' those behaviors, of jumping queues, of crowding, etc etc.
