  1. Not Peloton. I know this for sure because one of the class participants told us everyday she had one : ) My experience was on the Anthem about 2 years ago. So grain of salt. The bikes were state of the art Schwinn -in a separate room with floor to ceiling windows. The doors are frosted so you could technically go in and spin I suppose without anyone noticing. I did not notice the door was locked. When there was not a class that day I remember seeing the bikes are pushed together and roped on one side of the room. I think the classes were at 8am? There was also another offering in the afternoon. The instructor --I think it was Marcus...better than the view over the ocean. : ) I believe the prices were $12 per class. Spin was only offered on sea days. Make sure to sign up in advance for spin at least because it was always full. There was a wait list and the stand-by's were on deck. Icy cold lemon water and fresh towels in the spin room.

  2. I’m sorry to tell you, that while working out in the gym, I’ve witnessed many of the classes. The ones that are truly like your home classes, yoga, spin etc. you’ll be charged an extra fee. The “free” ones are usually sales pitches where you will be sold additional supplements, shoe inserts, or extra nutritional and training classes. If you want to spend extra to make your vacation a “spa” vacation, you can certainly do that.

Our best bet for “exercise” class, was to participate in ballroom or Latin dance lessons that are sometimes offered around the ship (but not the gym) . These are usually run by the dance pros or cruise directors staff. You don’t always get a full sweat on, but they are free and fun!

Another thing we do is take active excursions in port. You can rent bikes in many ports, snorkel, SUP, or kayak.

    Have fun!

100% agree. I was on the Anthem about 2 years ago and I loved the pay classes. I did Yoga, TRX, and spin. The bikes were state of the art in a separate room with floor to ceiling windows. The doors are frosted. Lots of cardio equipment. Don't go for the weights. Not many and no places to lift them.

  3. RCCL is a family friendly cruise line. You just need to do your homework and pick the one that works for you. In any case, as a mom of 4 having a one year old see the pool and dip toes in would be like giving someone a piece of chocolate cake but not letting them put it in their mouth lol. Don't do this : )

Yikes! Ok, I will have to break the bad news to her then. We are going for my friends 40th birthday celebration (who is also the sister of the person coming with the 1 year old) so she "has" to come on the cruise to celebrate her sisters birthday and wasn't going to leave the 1 year old for a week with anyone, but also just wanted to hang out on the ship instead of going into port. Hopefully Royal can figure out a way to make the ships a little more "friendly family" in respects to babies in the future. At least her baby is only 1 so maybe can just sit on the side with her and dip toes in to keep her satisfied. I couldn't image having a 2/3 year old and having to tell them they can't go in the pool. Thanks everyone for the responses!!
  4. In which case you didn't have the flu. Tamiflu is not going to clear flu symptoms in 12 hours ever. Most people who say they have the flu have a bad cold.

I did have the flu..I had a postive nasal swab for Influenza A. I said I started to feel better not that I had cleared flu symptoms. Doctor.

ETA: It's kinda hard to know which strain you had without the actual test ; )

  5. Oh and we never ate breakfast or lunch in the dining room. It is the same as at home. Will we eat a diner that has peanut butter chip pancakes..NO. Will we allow him to eat a waffle that is at a station that ladels out peanut butter sauce, whipped cream etc?...NO. Look at the buffet--is there a container of chopped peanuts at the same station..skip it. Easy!

  6. We have taken a couple cruises with our peanut allergic son. Once when he was 3 and once when he was 7. In general I have found that most cruiselines are the same in regard to allergies. We noted it on our reservation but frankly no one knew anything about it. That was fine because it would not have changed anything. We met with the wait staff in the dining room and let them know. We met with the pastry chef in the buffet and he pretty much told us that none of the desserts would be safe. I figured they wouldn't. Just like being at home...We can't just grab a choc chip cookie or a handful of pretzels...due to process issues. No biggie. What he could have was ice cream in the dining room. They opened a new container and had a fresh scooper. Also, soft serve ice cream was ok. I packed all of his favorite candy so we had sweets for him.

The buffet we stuck to waffles, pancakes, pre-packaged yogurt, fruit, pizza, french fries, chicken nuggets. We did not give him any of the buffet foods that were full meals with multiple ingredients--stews, pastas with sauces etc.

We always had the Epipen. He had a great time and so did we. It is really no different than being at home if you bring things your child can eat for dessert..lol. Our priority is dessert as you can tell.

  7. When I read that bit about your husband not wanting you to check-in with the kids..it made me smile. : ) He wants all of your attention. Your kids won't care of remember so maybe pretend your childless for the week? That might be fun but you also might come back with a souviner. Happened to me : )

  8. You will get all sorts of answers. We are all different parents/people. I myself would not take a child under 4 on a cruise. That is just me. I have 4 kids (16, 15, 12, 9) and just now does it ALMOST feel like going on vacation is actually a vacation : ) For the most part it is just not working while spending a sh@t load of money. If you are go with the flow and not desparate for some R&R you will make the best of it!

  9. Congrats on your upcoming vacation! We opted to "go dark". The grandparents had the ship emergency number. Our phones went into the safe and we were off the grid. Everyone survived. My kids are now older and when they go to sleep away camp (1 week) there is a policy that parents and children have not contact (unless an emergency of course) just for the very reason you stated above.

  10. Wow - that's a great price .... almost that much here in Maine... On ship I always got a glass (or two) of Caymus ... buy one get one free ... I'll have to check it out next time. Jan

Find out in vintages IF and When they will have a nice percentage off bottle purchases. We did not have the BP.

  11. Caymus was well over 100 for 750 bottle a little over a month ago at Vintage on Navigator, what ship were you on, glass was over 20

This was on the Anthem. They had only two 1.5ml bottles left and they had a 30% or 40% off bottles of wine purchase for a period of time so we got two and brought one home : ) I held them like infants on the way back to our stateroom.

  12. Have been to Bermuda 3 times. We like the smaller remote beaches. We always spend a day like this: Take the bus to the stop closest Gibb Lighthouse...climb to the top! Walk to Church Bay beach to lounge. They have a local that has snorkel equipment and loungers etc. Note that it can be choppy on occasion here so it might not be great for snorkeling. Take the bus to The Swizzle Inn (South Shore) for a couple of pitchers of rum swizzle, awesome food, and a giant slab of chocolate peanut butter pie. Stagger back to the bus stop : )
