  1. I believe that I read that La Choza and Casa Denis are owned by the same family, but you are right that most of the really good restaurants are a few blocks off of the Malecon. Some of the very best food that I have had was from a street vendor in Playa del Carman and in tiny booth in the indoor Mercado in Progreso.

I have found that the best is were the locals eat.

    Thank you!

  2. You can't go wrong with ANY restaurants downtown. They are all authentic. The better ones are not going to be on the main street, Rafael Melgar. Walk a street or two off the main drag, and you will find dozens of excellent restaurants. Trip Advisor has great listings with photos of menus. Our favorites are LaChoza and CasaDenis (beware the salsa, it is flaming hot). You can even get good food from some of the street vendors on back streets. Anyplace selling street tacos is good.

    Thank you!

  3. The terminal parking at the beginning of November when we finished our 6 night cruise it was $15 a day (total $90) and so glad we parked there. It was extremely convenient to walk right out load up and leave. I highly recommend parking at the terminal.

  4. I’m a tad late to the party here but just had to comment at the Excel spreadsheet. I also included my Excel schedule in my Allure trip report from couple years ago and it was interesting reading people’s comments after I posted it. As a frequent member of the “Friends of Excel” support group, I can appreciate a fellow cruiser in doing a similar schedule.

That’s one thing about cruise critics, no matter how anal your family and friends thinks you are, you come out to cruise critics and meet other similarly anal people and you feel much better that you are not alone. The support group does wonders.

I’m just waiting to see if anyone color code their underwear to match the color spreadsheet…:p

Great idea on the color coordination of the spreadsheet and undies. [emoji23]

  5. Along with a million other things today is also the day to make our Snack from the Buckeye State for our Halloween themed Cabin Crawl!!! Can you tell what I am making?

LOVE buckeyes!! The candy not the team!! lol We are your "neighbors to the north" but our daughter attends OSU so we have adopted the Buckeyes for a time!

Looking forward to your review, we will be sailing on Oasis for our 2nd time in April - taking our high school senior and 2 of his friends for their spring break!!

Hey jmaedcruise! Which is your cabin # on our crawl? I don't have you listed? Are you on as an alias or in with someone else? [emoji16]

Lol!!! I have a color coded spreadsheet too!! [emoji23]

My color coded schedule is just one tab in my cruise spreadsheet. I have a tabs for things to do, buy, pack, still left to pay for, etc. I love my spreadsheet.

  7. That is the first thing I did when I woke up...checked all the webcams. Very eerie.

Me too. I have checked Nassau off and on all day today. I was watching a little bit ago and it froze up and now won't load at all. Guess the storm took out the camera or power. Just noticed a tweet from 25 minutes ago that it is offline.

  8. Port parking is what we plan to do. Terminal 18 open parking lot seems easy enough if I hop out with luggage while Porter takes them away.

DH can just park in the closest available space and cross the street to meet me at check in. (No kids in tow) yippeeee:D

    Exactly what I'm thinking!

  9. I'm just gonna put my 2¢ in. I thought the very same thing as fanatic when I saw this and every other one before it. I have never understood the purpose for posting every time there is a medical emergency

If you are on the ship & it effects you, you already know what is going on.

If you are not on the ship it does not effect you and you really do not need to know this is happening.

Just my opinion - not trying to make anyone wrong here but cruisinfanatic is not alone in his opinion.

Well, for me it isn't a matter of need to know but when I saw it back in port I was quite curious and besides I'm nosy by nature. Would I survive not knowing? Sure. Would I prefer to know the scoop? Of course. Just my opinion and everyone is entitled to have an opinion. [emoji4]

  10. According to Captain Ron, there were a couple of people that wanted to "slap themselves" yesterday during the sail away, so they put them off the ship after the medical emergency was transprted. That was the reason we spent a longer time back at the port.

Wow! I think the only slapping myself at sail away I'd do would be because I did not sail sooner and more often.
