Hi.  I have been googling and gotten various answers, so I thought I'd try here.

We are doing a NCL Viva cruise from Trieste to Athens.   My daughter is 20.  She can drink there legally on land, but what is the protocol for while at sea?

    From NCL.com FAQ's:

What is the minimum age for purchase and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages?

Passengers must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcohol while in US sailings.

Parental consent is required for guests 18 to 20 to consume only beer and wine while vessels is in international waters. Authorization will be given only when the accompanying parent completes the Young Adult Alcoholic Beverage Waiver form. This form can be obtained and completed at the Guest Services Desk upon embarkation of the vessel. In Alaska and Hawaii waters parental consent is NOT permitted for guests 18 to 20 years old.

Europe sailing permits young adults 18 to 20 to purchase and personally consume alcohol while onboard.

    China/Asia:
Do not serve or sell alcohol to guests under 21 years of age. Parental consent is NOT permitted for guests 18 to 20 while in China/ Asia waters.

    Australia/New Zealand:
Do not serve or sell alcohol to guests under 21 years of age. Parental consent is required for guests 18 to 20 to serve or sell only beer and wine while in international waters.

  3. Welcome to CC.   Respectfully, I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill.  In all my cruises I've never had anyone try to engage me in a political discussion.  Sure, maybe an off the cuff humorous comment that I just blow off and change the subject but, no..it's never been an issue.

I highly doubt that results will be broadcast on the ship, that's not what they do.  They will though annoy you with other announcements like "Hey, bingo is starting in the Atrium".  😉

Yea, you are getting yourself wound up unnecessarily I think.  I'm sure you will have a wonderful cruise.

By the way, being a new cruiser there is a couple of forums you will be interested in to visit if you haven't already.  First Time Cruiser forum and the NCL Cruise Line forum.  Click on "Forums" at the top left of this page, scroll down and you'll find them easily.  😉

Is there room service offered all day? How late at night? Is there a charge for food other than breakfast?

    From the NCL FAQ section:

Is Norwegian Cruise Line now charging for room service?

There is a $4.95 Room Service Breakfast fee is fleetwide for all breakfast room service orders Orders placed by guests sailing in the Haven & Suites staterooms are not subject to the service fee*. A 20% gratuity and beverage service charge will be added for non-complimentary beverages and special occasion items.

    *Prices subject to change.

    Like really break it down.
So I get unlimited alcohol drinks under $15 with the included package. But no coffee or energy drinks? What about Gatorade and water?
The specialty dining… how many meals do you get included on a 5 night cruise? You can eat at any specialty place?
You still have to pay gratuities correct? Are they billed onto your account or paid in advance?
Is the included WiFi unlimited? Decent? We’re looking on a cruise on the Escape if that matters.
Anything else I need to know? This would be a first NCL cruise but certainly not our first cruise.

If you haven't done so read the Terms and Conditions of the current offer on NCL.com.   All parts of the FAS offer are explained in detail.

  6. I followed the links and checked out the lunch and dinner menus.  Looks like plenty of choices to me along with the buffet and other places to stop in that are complimentary.  Guarantee I wouldn't be losing any weight.

    No issue for me.

I have been looking at a certain NCL cruise for 3 months.  Every day I go to the NCL website and check the price.  Price has been the same.  Now they have a 70% off the second guest promo, but yet, the price is still exactly the same.  How is this possible???  I wish someone could and will explain.  Thank you.

You posted this in the Test Forum.   Recommend you post it on the NCL Forum.

Nope. Just arranged for it ourselves. He did peritoneal, so the first time it was arranged he didn't need a machine (all manual). The second cruise we planned on bringing the machine with us, but we ended up canceling when he got his transplant.

If your family member is doing peritoneal, then it can be arranged with the ship. We had Baxter deliver the supplies to the ship, which were waiting for the cabin for us when we arrived. The only thing we didn't have was a heating pad (not allowed on ships), but my husband just let the liquid get warm by placing them in the windows.

I'm not sure Dialysis at Sea sails with NCL.

    From NCL.com FAQ's:

    Dialysis

Guests requiring continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis are welcome to board all vessels. However, Norwegian Cruise Line does not have the ability to assist or administer hemo-dialysis treatments. Those guests using peritoneal dialysis should have all solutions and equipment needed to perform the dialysis delivered to the vessel on the day of sailing at least two hours prior to sailing. Please contact the Access desk prior to the cruise for more information on Norwegian Cruise Line's policies and procedures.

i know it is not ideal but we are going to do self carry off

It's less than ideal.  I would definitely change to a later flight.  After a fun relaxing cruise why end it with a stressful situation.  You could end up with a really crappy flight.

I've cruised mostly on Celebrity in the past. They usually tell passengers that they must be back on board one hour before leaving a port.  I noticed that NCL, specifically the Prima, says we must be back aboard two hours before leaving a port.
How strict is NCL about this?  If I get back to the ship one hour before the ship is due to leave, will that be a problem for me? Of do they say that just to make sure the last minute people get back in time?

The two hours you are referring to is only for boarding on embarkation day at the home port.

This is the OP of the thread. I find it amazing that people are so mundanely satisfied with poor service. Horrible embarkation, passengers passing out from heat in the 2.5 hours in the sun with no water stations provided: no problem. Slow and lackluster service; no problem. Long lines for supposed reservation times: no problem. Poor NCL takes my money and pretends they are doing everything they can to improve the situation but don't, no problem. If you ain't Haven class, you ain't nobody; no problem. If you spent a couple of thousand dollars on anything else that had so many problems, you would be raising hell about it. But folks seem all too ready to forgive a cruise line for a shoddy product. And I am getting tired of being, "classed". From airlines and their "preferred" classes of boarding the plane to seats on the transfer busses. If you do not prefer Salsa dancing and rap music, don't bother to sit out by the pool.  And please: Will passengers begin to show some courtesy and consideration? From the electric scooter drivers who seem to think that the corridors and table seatings were created just for them and their beeping little horns to the pushy people cutting into the buffet lines to the drunks in the hot tubs and the 80 year old men trying to look like Hulk Hogan in their Speedos and muscle shirts to the elderly women wearing thong bathing suits to the "studs" wearing cowboy hats who have never set foot on a farm or ranch. No, you don't look cute; you look silly and out of place. Somewhat like Walmart on Friday night. From now on I am going to rent a nice cabin in a remote state park and relax on my own terms and my own schedule. Goodbye cruising.

Epic isn't the best representation of NCL. It's the only ship like it for a reason. As many as 3 were planned but after the first one....no more.

There were no more after the first one due to a contract dispute with the shipbuilders.
