  1. I am now platinum with Princess and trying to figure out how they calculate cruise credits. On Celebrity they give you an extra credit if you book concierge or suites and extra credits for cruises over 7 days. How does Princess calculate their credits for obtaining a higher status. If I am in a mini suite on a 15 day cruise on Princess, will they consider it 2 cruises or 4 or just 1?

Just wondering as I am trying to figure out when I am going to be elite.

    Thanks,

    Andrea

  2. I just got an email from Princess telling me I can purchase beverage packages ahead of time. I was wondering if I got the coffee card, and I get a double cappuccino or any other double coffee drink will it be one or two punches. I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I like my coffee drinks strong and am wondering how many cards I need to purchase for a 15 day cruise.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. We sail on January 14th Papeete to Papeete and accepted an upsale offer yesterday. For $500 per person we upgraded from a B2 to a PH2. We could of had any of the PH category but we like the PH2 for its midship location. It was a splurge, but this is an anniversary cruise for us. We feel we are getting a good deal. A week ago they offered the same upsale for $1000 per person. For $1000 pp you can get an ocean suite now. Looking forward to our cruise!

  4. Yes, we should have gone a day early but we thought that we would have an extra day as the ship overnights in Papeete at the beginning of the cruise. It is okay, we will just find a place for us and our luggage and keep thinking that it is only about 4 hours to suffer and then a great trip ahead. I think changing the tickets are very expensive, but I will look into it.

    Thanks again,

    Andrea

  5. We will be on the Marina in January and we just booked a B2 cabin(8034). When I looked at the location of the room, there was a hanger in a box across the hall from it. It turns out that our room is kity corner to the laundry room.

Has anyone been this close to the laundry room? Can you hear the washers and dryers? If so we might have to move our cabin. I am very sensitive to noise and vibration.

    Any replies will help.

    Thanks

  6. Hello, I need some help with a place to go while we wait to board our cruise in Papeete. Our plane arrives around 6 am and I think boarding does not begin until after 12pm. Is there a hotel with a day rate that we can rest in or a tour that we can take? Perhaps even a long breakfast and somewhere to store the luggage? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Thank you

  7. Just booked a cabin for our daughter and boyfriend on Monday, a guarantee. My husband just text me and we already got a cabin placement. She got upgraded to a 1B from guarantee veranda to deck 9. It is a little forward but still very good. We also got her waitlisted dinner time confirmed so we can all eat together! Yeah, way to go Celebrity.

  8. Hello Cruisetrail,

Thank you so much for this thread. You are amazing! We are cruising on December 15th on the Silhouette and trying to decide between cabin 8253 or 9264. We have the 1A catagory and do not want to be near smoking areas and am okay with lifeboats below. We have had the misfortune of being next to rude families in the past and I thought since 8253 was between two cabins that only had a trundle we might be okay. There are other cabins available but we prefer to be mid or forward in the ship and not too high because of the movement. We are also concerned that the hump cabins may not give us enough sun.

What do you think? Thanks for any help.

  9. Since none of the more experienced Hal cruisers has answered your question, I will give you the information that I received. The lido cabanas are around or near the pool and are only for 2 adults and 2 children tops. They have a small table, maybe 2 chairs and loungers for two people(doubles?). They do not appear large enough for 4 adults, but are close to the pools so families with younger children might like that or more social people may enjoy being in the mix.

The retreat cabanas may be the same size, it is hard to tell but they are also for 2 adults and 2 children tops. They are $299 per week vs $199 for the lido cabanas by the pool. There are 2 Family retreat cabanas that will fit 4 adults and some say 2 children. These are larger and have a table with chairs that you can eat at and lounges to fit 4 people. These are $449 per week. The retreat area is designed to be a quieter area from what I have read. It is 2 decks above the pool area which will mean that your party will have to take the elevator/stairs to the pool.

I am not an expert, but I did reserve a Family retreat cabana (as there are 4 adults and 2 children in our party), pay in advance by booking through Ship Services. There was only one lido cabana left for a December sailing. Anyone can call and book as long as you have a credit card to pay for it and your reservation number. I am sure some others will chime in with more information. There are pictures of the cabanas on another thread. Just search for Eurodam Retreat Cabanas and you will see them.

    Good luck to you.

    Andrea
