I wouldn't have thought the US authorities would let them fly home on commercial flights without testing them. If the passengers were not allowed to, then surely it would be the same rules for the crew. They could be carrying the virus through airports and onto aircraft.

I know right? I heard from him again this evening and he sounded just as frustrated. They aren’t being told much of anything. He said some crew are completely packed and have all their signing off paperwork and passports put together in the crew office. He’s all packed but doesn’t know if they’ve pulled his passport or put together his signing off paperwork or not. He did hear the Philippine government is sending a plane to pick up those crew up tomorrow. I can’t imagine all countries represented on the ship will be sending planes.

  2. I just got a voicemail from one of our crew members friends onboard. He said they had a meeting with the HGM today and they were told they wouldn’t receive 2 months pay like the Diamond crew did. They all believed they were but now it looks like not. Crew is also under the impression they won’t be tested and will be put on commercial flights home beginning tomorrow. Sure hope that’s not the case.

We have no idea when we can expect any results.  So we sit tight for a few days.

    As per the FAQ:

    7. How will I be notified when the FCC is ready? The future cruise credit will not be applied instantaneously, and we ask that you are patient and allow up to 30 business days to process it. No special codes are needed. We will automatically take care of it and notify you when it’s done. You can also log on to your Captain's Circle Account on princess.com to check your FCC balance.

I used the online form to cancel a cruise this morning - now when I try to go back to do another one (which we actually cancelled the day before yesterday but I think we can get the 25% FCC and our money back under the newest policy) I get the following message.  Maybe they are just overwhelmed???

Thank you for reaching out regarding your upcoming impacted sailing. We are in the midst of setting up a system to process your cruise postponement and issue your future cruise credit and/or refund. Please check back soon to begin this process. We thank you for your patience as we navigate these unprecedented circumstances.

I did several this morning before running into this message. Overwhelmed is probably an understatement.

Does anyone know if we used a travel agent do they have to do the paperwork or can we just fill out the form ourselves.  I know the agents will be very busy and I don't mind doing it but just not sure if it has to go through the travel agent.

You can do the paperwork yourself. As a TA, I thank you for thinking of us. 😊

As you are on the Princess board, the first post in this thread should be of interest

As I didn’t post it, I’m not sure how that screen capture wound up showing in your quote of my original post. Currently Princess is still at 72 hours as per the link provided.

Are you seeing anything (re: discounted fares) on the horizon for Alaska out of SF? Kids sail under WHTI so they have to go in and out of same port & that's our home port. 2 on hold, want just 1: Star June 12th or August 11th. FCC received for March 22nd Grand / no news yet on March 29th Grand

They have the “Summer Clearance Sale” that started yesterday but honestly the deals aren’t that great. There are some flash fares for Alaska but they are only showing for cruises through the end of May right now. As you probably noticed there are bunches of cabins open so I would expect more to be popping up on the flash sheet in the next few weeks.

  8. New advisory has been posted on Princess:

Health Advisory and Travel Safety Procedures

To protect the health and safety of all onboard, we are closely monitoring the evolving situation with novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We are quickly implementing enhanced screening measures and additional prevention and control procedures. Our protection and prevention tactics include:

    1. Beginning in select embarkation terminals on March 7th and as soon as possible in all embarkation terminals, we will be temperature checking all guests embarking on our ships using temporal scanning thermometers. All guests presenting with a fever or flu-like symptoms will be denied boarding, irrespective of their recent travel history. All guests who are denied boarding due to sickness will be issued a full cruise credit or refund.
    2. Beginning in select embarkation terminals on March 7th and as soon as possible in all embarkation terminals, we will be implementing enhanced sanitation protocols including the thorough cleaning of all hand touching surfaces for all cruise terminals before and after all sailings.
    3. Onboard all Princess ships, effective immediately, we are executing enhanced environmental sanitation protocols with a disinfectant that kills coronaviruses within 30 seconds.

So first time using ez-air, but have referred quite a few times since booking last year.  We just made final payment 2/16/20 for our cruise and airfare.  Checked today and another $50 drop in our airfare, went it and selected and got confirmation of new pricing.  My question is what do they do with the $50 they have already received in my final payment?  Since I am before the 45 -day mark of changes, do they give an OBC for that difference or refund it back to my cc?  Anyone have any experience with this?  Thanks. I searched these boards for 40 + pages and couldn't find any answers to this question.

From personal experience, it hasn’t been refunded to my card until 30 days after the sail date. But if you call Princess or your TA, they can request a refund be initiated and it’ll be refunded to your card within 10-15 business days.

  10. If you haven't seen it yet, they have extended the OBC window for those sailing sooner than March 9. From

    https://www.princess.com/news/notices_and_advisories/notices/temporary-cancellation-policy.html

Guests who choose to keep their booking as currently scheduled for departures between March 6 and May 31 will receive the following Onboard Credit amounts:

    • $100 USD / $150 AUD per stateroom for 3 and 4 day cruises
    • $150 USD / $225 AUD per stateroom for 5 day cruises
    • $200 USD / $300 AUD per stateroom for 6 day and longer cruises

Do you guys know if this FCC can be used on a cruise already booked with an agent or does it have to be used on a new cruise or a cruise already booked directly through Princess??

I know it can be used for a cruise already booked but not sure if that includes cruises already booked through an agent other than Princess???

Can be used on a new or existing cruise, agent or direct.

Are we getting the cost of the PVP credited since everybody else is getting it for free ?

I'm working on finding out the answer to that one. The Princess reps are slammed...even the dedicated travel agent line tells me there are 100 calls ahead of me and then hangs up. Chat is overloaded right now, too. Hopefully someone can get through this morning!

  13. Princess is temporarily changing their cancellation policy. The link is here: https://www.princess.com/news/notices_and_advisories/notices/temporary-cancellation-policy.html and details are below.

To assist guests' decisions regarding their upcoming cruise vacations during the evolving worldwide COVID-19 situation, Princess Cruises is temporarily making some changes to our cancellation policy for cruises departing up to May 31, 2020.

    Revised Final Payment Timing

Additionally, we are amending Final Payment on cruises sailing June 1 through June 30, 2020.

    What's New?

The details vary by departure date. The following applies to new and existing bookings on cruises and cruisetours in all markets globally.

    Date of Departure* Benefit
April 3, 2020 or earlier Cancel up to 72hrs before sailing to receive Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for 100% of cancellation fees
April 4, 2020 - May 31, 2020 Cancel by Mar 31 and receive FCC for 100% of cancellation fees
June 1, 2020 - June 30, 2020 Final Payment moves to 60 days prior to sailing

*Date of departure is from the start date of your cruise or cruisetour, whichever is earlier. Excludes charter cruises.

Guests who choose to keep their booking as currently scheduled for departures between March 9 and May 31 will receive the following Onboard Credit amounts:

    • $100 USD / $150 AUD per stateroom for 3 and 4 day cruises
    • $150 USD / $225 AUD per stateroom for 5 day cruises
    • $200 USD / $300 AUD per stateroom for 6 day and longer cruises

For our guests booked on Crown Princess Mediterranean itineraries, we are finalizing some itinerary changes and a special offer that we will be sharing early next week.

    The Fine Print

Future Cruise Credits (FCC) are non-refundable and may be applied to any new or existing booking not yet paid in full on a Princess Cruise departing on or before December 31, 2021.

The FCC does not have to be used on the same product that was cancelled and is non-transferable.

To ensure we cover guests who already made final payment, the revised final payment date means no cancellation fees will be assessed until 60 days prior to sailing.

    Timing

FCCs will automatically be applied to each guest’s Captain Circle account after they have cancelled. FCCs will not be available instantly and may take up to 10 business days to be processed.

  14. The notification about the Grand at https://www.princess.com/news/notices_and_advisories/notices/grand-princess-updates.html has just now been updated to include this important information:

For guests who sailed on the previous Grand Princess voyage (Feb 11-21), if you have experienced any symptoms of acute respiratory illness with fever, chills, or cough since your return home, please immediately contact your medical provider. You can also view the COVID-19 information card (PDF) provided by the CDC.

By reading the PDF information card it sounds like self-quarantine is on its way for the folks from the past voyage who aren't showing symptoms.

Wow, that stinks.  What I read on the other forum I referenced earlier was that letters were slipped under passenger doors overnight.  So it would seem that if those delivering the letters knew that Princess would have communicated the news to all of the other staff and crew.

You’d think. He knew they were skipping Ensenada but not a word about Coronavirus. Hope they spread the word to everyone soon.

Shame on Princess...I just spoke with a friend who works onboard. He hasn’t heard a word about it and he works all over the ship in passenger areas. Out and about on deck as we speak. Crew need to know.
