  1. Early April we did the Jolly Roger Catamaran Snorkel excursion through RC and it was some of the best snorkeling we have ever enjoyed. Great bargain and included lunch. Cozumel we did Mr. Sanchos all-inclusive. 4th time there and the food and drinks were good. Service awesome. $20 cab ride for four from the port, takes about 15-20 minutes.

We also did some private company tours there when on President’s Cruise last year. When I can find the info, I will post.

Silly question, for the OP or anyone who has sailed Harmony recently since we started daylight savings time. Do you recall the local port times in Roatan? Itinerary lists 8-5 but since Roatan is behind ship’s time, I suspect that the local time in port is 7-4. I’ve sailed the western Caribbean route out of Galveston several times and I’ve seen the time differences in port handled different ways.

We cruised on the 3/31 sailing. Roatan is the only port that the time is different- one hour behind ship (Galveston) time. All others match Galveston time.

  3. I’ve been type 1 for 45 years. Not saying it’s right or wrong or medically recommended but the only time I refrigerate my insulin is at home, and that’s for everything except my in-use vial and a new unopened one I keep in my backpack. Doctor told me it wasn’t necessary to refrigerate for shorter periods like a week or two. Being on a pump I may use a vial every two weeks.

I do use a Frio for excursions. It cools using evaporation.

Have them check with their endocrinologist for their best practices. Good luck.

  4. Definitely do the two connecting rooms. We have done that on our last 4-5 cruises and the 3 upcoming cruises with our now 16 year old twin girls. One of the main reasons we did that was for the extra bathroom and certainly the privacy. I’ve always found two connecting ocean view balconies cost much less than suites.

I have found the website can be screwy when listing connecting rooms so check frequently.

    good luck

  5. We have done both sushi and cupcake classes but on different ships. Both were a lot of fun. Everyone makes the same sushi rolls and if I remember correctly from our class last year, the California roll was the only vegetarian roll out of the 4-5 rolls made.

Depending on the age of your granddaughter, cupcake class may be a better option.

Thank you for all the answers, I appreciate it. For those on Dexcom, one other question, how do you handle security when you need to bring additional devices for a change during the cruise. Can they go through the scanner?  Can you go through the scanner with it on since you can't remove it? How do you handle this? We haven't traveled with this system yet and she is in all sorts of worry about this.

    Thank everyone again in advance.

I’ve worn both my CGM and insulin pump for many years on many cruises; no issues.  Not even a chirp. Enjoy your cruise!

My wife wears a Dexcom G6, which monitors her blood sugar via a device on her arm. It connects to her iPhone via Bluetooth and delivers continuous blood sugar reading as advertised. When it works (I won't go there) it is great, but that Bluetooth connection seems to break easily. .

Now, I am not tech savvy, will this Bluetooth connection work on the Allure or do I need to buy the Vroom package to ensure the connection remains continuous. This technology depends on such a connection.

We are bringing her test strips as a backup.

Thanks to anyone who has experience with CGM.

@Dolby1000 Not only do I have the G6, but also use the Tandem t:slim X2 which is tied to my G6. No need for internet at all. I’ve also used the Omnipod 5 with my G6 without issue. Started with G4 , then G5 all without issue.

side note - have Dexcom troubleshoot your wife’s connection issues. I’ve only had issues when phone or app needed updating, when transmitter battery on sensor needed replacing, or the occasional phone rich environment. Moving phone to that side of body always fixed it.

  8. Don’t focus so much on discount or other “sale” monikers. Look at total cost, including tip/tax to determine if it’s a bargain that fits your budget. Prices vary from ship to ship and even within same ship and different sailing dates. We have sailings booked where price is between $77.99 & $83.99 pp.

you can always cancel a package purchase if price goes lower.

As of now, Royal doesn’t limit the number or frequency of drinks. Depending on bartender/server, you maybe be able to order more than one at a time using same card.

Thanks, you made me go back and look.

I pulled the price from cruising power and I went back and looked and found out that it is giving me the same $54 whether I select Canadian or USD currency (big shock at yet another IT fail) so that $54 that I posted was Canadian and it is actually $40 USD per person.  I have not seen any variation between ships.  That other $75 could be round trip or maybe it was for 2 people

I just went back to check and as usual @Ourusualbeach was correct (pun intended).  It was $39.95 pp to IAH and $31.95 pp to HOU - my wife had to go to Sacramento to pick up our girls and it was much easier from Hobby.

Please know that I realize the “lie” within this post might seem trivial, but I am making the post anyway.  Mostly because at some point I begin to feel like Royal Caribbean, as a company, has developed a culture of creating an illusion of good intent and good value when what they are actually doing is making cut after cut without being honest and up front about it. They are decreasing the value while trying to hide the decrease from their customers. So, my example may seem trivial, but it is a clear example of my point…Royal Caribbean putting a shiny cheap cover up over a degrading product.  Case in point… I am currently on the President’s Cruise and went to get a cup of coffee at Cafe Promenade last night.  There were two containers at the coffee prep area one marked milk and one marked half and half. Knowing this subject is one of interest I tested both for what they contained.  They contained an identical product, milk.  I have read this same thing from others who has found the same thing over the past year.  So I do not believe this to be an isolated incident. Royal Caribbean, if you’re only going to provide milk and not half and half then do not lie to your customers about offering half and half as an option.  It is insulting and speaks to lack of honesty and integrity.  It makes one question what else you are not being honest about.  What other short cuts are you taking and purposely misleading your customers about?  Whereas I can accept changes and cuts as Royal tries to turn around a bad financial situation, I can not accept being lied to along the way.  If you’re going to remove a product, remove the product.  But don’t lie about it and intentionally mislead your customers.  Again, I know the “lie” might seem trivial.  My post is to speak to the greater idea that once a dog kills a chicken, it can not be trusted around chickens.  Once I am purposely misled, I then question everything.

We were also on this cruise and it wasn’t the experience we had; in fact just the opposite.

We ate breakfast 5 times in Solarium and 2 times in Windjammer. I drink my coffee black while my wife adds milk and the blue stuff as I call the sweetener. One morning at Solarium as I was getting our coffee, both pitchers looked to contain cream (I go through a lot of mugs making sure I get the right still😄). I mentioned it to staff and they ran back into kitchen and came out with same color pitcher but with milk. They apologized profusely. Same thing happened in WJ two days later.

Perhaps I had better luck in my experiences/outcomes. They absolutely need to mark the Pitchers differently than black and orange bases on a stainless pitcher. That would be helpful in many ways.

  11. As with all Royal sales, whether it’s a deal or not depends on both ship and sailing date factoring original purchase price. Prices dropped for DBP, UDP, and Voom on our July 2023 and March 2024 cruises.

it’s always a crap shoot whether the sale lowers the dynamic pricing of anything!

  12. We had a South Beach Cabana and it was awesome, especially if you can catch it on sale.  Walk isn't that far, and shuttles are going constantly.  We liked it because it wasn't on top of the waterpark.  We just walked over when we felt like doing the slide or other stuff.

As you probably know, only those using the "for-fee" areas of water park need to pay for it.  Those that don't enjoy the tons of free water activities as well as the cabana.

  13. Thanks. The ship has an excursion there that day and it’s a day they are normally open so we should be good in that respect. We weren’t going for the tour, just to visit the brewery for an hour or two.

Don't expect Lost 40 or Flyaway, but worth a visit.  Staff is good and beer is better than the Honduran stuff (which isn't half bad).  Doing it via ship excursion would help in getting there when its open.  A private taxi or island excursion will be catch if catch can.

So getting a taxi from port to the brewery is a challenge?  Usually we are fighting off taxi drivers in ports😄
