They know that most won't stop to think it through, especially those who don't follow CC and really don't have a clue how this works. They just look at it as getting more.  I'm active on CC since 2008 and the FCC rules are new to me. I would have never thought about how they are credited and how they would apply to a future cruise.

That's true. One would think it applies to the cabin or reservation and not per person. When/if cruises resume there will be lots of frustrated and confused people. What do you mean I cant apply my kids FCC to the cabin with Kids sail free? Yes, I see frustration in the future.

That’s why they are offering everyone that is offered a cash refund the option of a 125% FCC...to entice them not to take the cash.

Buts it's not that enticing if the credit is not split up to benefit the customers. Imagine a 4 way split of 125% if you booked with KSF and want to book another KSF then you would actually loose money. Or if one person in the group no longer wishes or cant cruise because of work (or lack if work). If I paid for everyone and 1 person cant or doesn't want to cruise I loose out. That's why with flexibility in how the FCC is divided, it's not as valuable as cash even with the 125%. Just my humble opinion.

Exactly. But if I book on another line, it won't matter how the fares are proportioned, I'll just have my cash back and can book whatever. Even if I sacrifice $200 in FCC by taking the cash back, it won't much matter if I'd have to go out of pocket $200 to use the extra $200 FCC. All I'd be accomplishing is tying up $200 more of my own money with RCCL.

If I had the choice of all cash of FCC. There is no way I would take FCC. Who is to stay the company won't go bankrupt and make FCC worthless or raise prices to compensate for the FCC.  Just better to have cash to do with what you want. What should RCL decide who gets what FCC allocation. Take the cash and run!

They are all the same. Wont matter much.

Yes, the lines are the same but cash is King. I seems like the lines should make FCC as friendly as possible to encourage people to take it rather than just getting a cash refund. With cash you can go to a different line or take a non cruise vacation.  But I am sure the number crunchers have decided that their restrictive FCC  rules will be more profitable than being flexible. If they didn't think it would be profitable, they would be more flexible.

Yes it is evenly split under both cruise with confidence and the sailings that Royal cancelled.  It was before all this mess started that FCC's were issued based on what the person actually paid

So I wonder if I should have any confidence that mine will be proportional. The 1st rep said yes (Mar 10). The 2nd rep (Mar 20) said yes. He even gave me the numbers of 600 for one and 300 for the other. He also said that he left detailed notes in my account in case I had to call again. How much confidence should I have that I will two 2 FCC instead of 4 for $225. While I don't like the policy, my problem is not the policy but just being told one thing by the person on the phone and then being given something different.

I don't think they ever changed how the FCC was divided.  I thought it was always split equally among all the guests for the cruise with confidence policy.

I see. If the FCC is not related to the Cruise with Confidence policy, it is proportional. If it's under the the confidence policy its evenly split?

My guess is nothing.  They are giving away cruises to casino members and great rates, including comps to TA's

I guess when they start cruising again they need gamblers and drinkers and not families. Do you think TAs are heavy spenders once they get onboard? I guess so. Since the cruise was free they can spend alot.

Yours was a different situation.  March 10 was a key date as during the day they changed their policy from allowing a partial refund and a FCC to only FCC under the cruise with confidence policy

Was that also the date they changed from awarding FCC proportionality to equally? Also fo you think it's weird that I got my refund before the FCC? Hope my FCC doesn't get lost. But I'm not going to call again right now. Last time I was on phone 2.5 hours.

It was really great a few years ago when they had 3’rd and 4’th guest sail free with no restriction on age.

Maybe they will bring that back if cruising starts again. I remember, though, you mentioned that Royal could fill shops with TAs and unadvertised friends and family sale. So maybe they wont offer anything to the general public.

I had a friend that spent hours on the phone with different reps and supervisors trying that exact same thing....Royal would not budge.

On Mar 20, I called because I had been given FCC of 100%  dividend equally by 4 people when only 2 had paid. I asked for 50% FCC divided among 1st 2 guests and 50% refund. This is what was promised when I made my 1st call on the Mar 10th. On Mar 20th after 2.5 hours I was promised the 50% refund and 50% FCC in names of 1st 2 guests. I have received the refund. Now I am waiting on the FCC. I wonder if I will get it and get it CV correctly applied to only 1st 2 guests and not the 2and two who paid no fare under kids sail free.

I cancelled our cruise on March 10, supposed to sail March 22. I got a Dr. note that we couldn't sail and got all our money back.  Credited to our CC.  This was before the sailing got cancelled anyway.  But their "Cruise with Confidence" policy says you can get 100% FCC.

When I canceled and what the rep told me on the phone. Was I would get 50% refund and the 50% penalty would come back to me as FCC.

Sure, what is the number for the legal department?  If you are actually on the phone with them, why are you posting here?

I don't think this is a nice comment. The poster is posting to because that is what these boards are all about. I both posted and called today.

The point for me is one of principle. I would love to go on the cruise and wish that there never was a COVID-19. I do however expect that the company, any company, comply with the terms of the contract I signed. It's like buying something on Amazon for the listed price and have the tell you that they forgot to update it after you ordered it. If I were running RCCL I would give every cruise passenger that had to cancel because of this health emergency a full refund and count on good and loyal patronage to recover afterward. It's just good customer relations.... But that's just me.

I do think they are  alienating the people who will cruise after the world opens. They need to keep their die hard fans  because it will be hard to convince new cruisers to sail for a while.

Just curios as to where you digitally sign the contract.  The only contract that I’ve ever signed is when I do the set sail pass and that I normally do a week before our cruise departs.

Best  of luck to you in your endeavour .

Not sure, but there is always a button that says by clicking submit you agree with........

So I'm the phone right now with RCCl legal. It appears that they failed to update the online contract. That is not my fault, or the fault of any other person who booked online. The contract that is online, which I have uploaded copies in my previous comments, is the contract that was signed and the contract that controls. you cand check with an attorney if you want. It seems that RCCL has made a giant mistake.

So are they going to help? Do you really want to cancel? Canada has closed their ports until at least July. This cruise won't be sailing. I also can't imagine how they could sail anywhere else in 3 days?

Please check out the PDF I uploaded with my comments. I've spent more than four hours total on hold for reps trying to resolve my complaint. I did not allow them to cancel my cruise on their terms, and loose over $1,000,  and instead filled a dispute with American Express to see if they can cancel the payment based on the contract terms. This is clearly a breach-of-contract on RCCL's part. I've also contacted an attorney to see if a class action is possible and that opinion is pending. I'm still technically booked on the cruise. We'll see if the US-Canada border is still closed on May 19 and what RCCL decides to do. This is such a disappointment as I've really enjoyed sailing on RCCL's amazing ships including in the awesome two-bedroom aqua suite on the Symphony of The Seas. I will never sail with them again and cancel the two cruises I have booked for later in the year if this issue is not resolved per the terms of the contract I agreed to.

I don't see what is causing Royal's confusion. Is this booking for 2 guests?  I looked at the pdf and it's very clear to me. Is it that the have changed the terms after the fact and are trying to hold you to the new terms? On the bright side. It's good that you did  not cancel. There will be no cruise sailing on May 17. I would bet the farm on it.
