  1. 138east:

Good morning!  You've helped me before with wonderful info for cruising from Newark! Thank you!  This time we will drive to NY on 6/6 and fly out of JFK (probably 6/7). We board the NCL Pearl in Amsterdam on 6/8/19. We  are 2 senior adults and would need 1 night hotel stay.  We have Hilton and Holiday Inn points that we can use for hotel, however we need parking for our car til 6/22/19. Any advice for long term parking will be much appreciated. We're wondering if it would be better to save points and stay with a "park and fly package" or can we add a nominal parking fee when we have free night with points. Thanks in advance.

  2. Wonderful pics and info of Halifax! We're on a list for a tour that will be $100 ok...waiting on need that we get another couple or 2. This company has great reviews! However, your cost of car sure beat the price!! Were there any issues in travel? We also go to Lunenberg and a couple of other spots. We can maybe do on our own. What was your time there and travel time? Thanks for any additional insight. Marty

  3. Thanks for your help! I don't think we'll use our time to go there!

quote=chengkp75;56381693]Kennebunkport is 40 minutes each way from Portland on the Interstate. If you want to go the scenic route, it is an hour on Route 1, but you would be able to stop and see things along the way. The only way I know of to get there is renting a car, or taking a ship's excursion.

Not much really to see in Kennebunkport, other than try to see Walker's Point, or the Nubble lighthouse. Portland has better food and beverage choices. Kennebunkport is a small town, lots of large houses on the coast, and small houses inland, just like most coastal Maine towns.

  4. Thanks, Carol! I've been reading more and getting a better idea of the layout of the city. Not sure we'll make it to the USS Constitution. This is our next to last port on a 21 day trip and we will be tired. We may be better to take our time and enjoy the area we're in. Thanks again for your prompt reply. Your directions and info are a wonderful help to so many! Marty

  5. 138East: My husband and I will be in Boston on Tues 9/25 from 8-7. I made reservations for the free walking tour of part of Freedom Trail for 11AM. It's about 2 hours. We plan to take Silverline Bus there. I'd like to see Boston Common, Public Garden & Swan Boats, Faneuil Hall, Cheers Bar. Is this all possible? I've read about the water taxi to Charlestown for Old Ironsides/Bunker Hill, which sounds neat, but doing know how to fit it in since We'll be downtown 1st for tour and not at port to catch water taxi. I also read about a "Charlie Card" for all day transport on T trains, bus, and ferry. Would this be cheaper for us?

You were so helpful to me last year with info on stay/park/cruise in Bayonne! We're using our same hotel this year. Thank you in advance for your advice.

  6. We cruised last Thanksgiving with our 8 year old granddaughter and 4 year old grandson. They had a blast! The crew were great with them and they felt so special! My granddaughter loved the production shows, participated in activities, and she and her Dad made great memories at the Silent Disco. They both enjoyed the splash pad and lawn club. Already booked for this Thanksgiving!

  7. I've contacted Scenic Tours of Antigua for info regarding a 6 hour tour for $38 pp. This price includes the $8 pp entry fee to Nelsons Dockyard. 9AM to 3PM. It ends at a beach, if desired, before returning to ship. When booking online a 50% deposit is due. "Deposit is refundable if ship does not come to port." Reviews are excellent and sound like it's a 4-6 person tour in a van.

  8. I recommend that you shop a few agencies to find out. You can start with those that advertize here and through an internet search. Not much time at all, plus a few phone calls to follow-up for clarification...

You may be, albeit slightly, surprized as to which agents will want to book you..

    bon voyage

    Thanks! Will do!

  9.

I'm not seeing a direct public bus from the Ramada to Manhattan. NJ Transit bus #40 runs about once an hour from the bus stop on Frontage Road in front of the Doubletree to Newark Penn Station where you can get PATH to downtown or NJ Transit train to uptown.

From the Hilton in Secaucus I would get a quote from Secaucus Taxi and check Uber/Lyft pricing.

  10. 138 East,

You gave us info on Trinity Reservations for our cruise last year to Canada. Thank you so much for your help! We booked through them for another cruise this Sept. I noticed last year that the Ramada offered a shuttle to NYC, but we arrived after their last shuttle in and couldn't use it. I read an online review that said a bus runs from Manhattan and stops directly at the Ramada. Is this correct info? Thank you in advance for your help.

Also, we have stayed at the Hilton in Secaucus b4, using points. We arranged for parking there during our cruise. What would be the cheapest way to get to the cruiseport in Bayonne from this hotel?
