We leave on the POA on Aug 26th. We are not expecting to visit Maui and are preparing for that. I have been in touch today with the private tour company we are booked with for one of our Maui tours and they said they are waiting for word from the Hawaii Tourism folks for guidance on how they will proceed. We have travel insurance and are told that missing a port is not something it will cover mainly because the cruise ships just re-adjust their itinerary and something replaces that missing part of the trip. Also, the cruise contract with NCL states that the company can change the itinerary as deemed necessary by the company.

We are scheduled on the POA to be in Maui at the Kahului Port on Sunday Aug 27th. I am considering renting a car and driving to Lahaina that morning, shop for a couple of hours, have lunch, then drive back down to the Maui Ocean Center for a couple of hours before retuning to the ship. If we plan to arrive in Lahaina about 10am taking Highway 30 up the coast, then after lunch head back taking the Lahaina bypass, will this help prevent our getting caught in traffic? I am concerned after reading on CC about the possibility of traffic on highway 30 with long delays. We want to be able to see Maui Ocean Center on the way back, then have time to rest/refresh before our dinner plans on the ship at 6pm. Does this sound like a feasible plan? TIA

Thank you all for your responses. Yes we have booked two private excursions, one with C Big Islands and one with Robert's. We are going to the Smith's Luau, it sounds like a great luau! We booked others though NCL, but still have one open day in Maui and one in Kauai left to fill. I was very disappoint4d that there Na'Pali Coast cruise by was cancelled. Now we have no way of seeing it unless we book private and get transportation to a different port to catch the excursion.

Taking Pride of America Aug 26th, we have never sailed with NCL before. I have been looking at excursions over the last week trying to decide, but many of the ones we are interested on are "not available ". I am assuming they are booked. Once we embark, will we have another opportunity to possibly book those we are interested in, as well as change specialty dining reservations we have already made?

Doing a 2 night land and cruise tour in Waikiki. Any suggestions for a sunset dinner cruise?

We are on the POA Aug 26th sailing with NCL. We will be in Maui 2 nights and want to see the Od Lahaina Luau the first evening there, but the ship will be docked at the Kahalui port. Any suggestions on transportation from the port to the Lahaina Luau?

First time NCL cruiser here. Our TA has included the Free at Sea promotion on the POA in August 2023 that will include the Unlimited Beverage package as well as 2 SDR meals. We have never had a beverage package before so have questions: Are we able to use our Unlimited Beverage package inside the specialty dining restaurants? How about inside the Main Dining rooms? Also, "each guest is eligible for 2 drinks per person per transaction". Does this mean that each time we order a round of drinks, that we cannot order more than 2 drinks each? I see that there is a "Hawaii Beverage package" on the POA. Is this simply another choice of beverage packages along with the usual ones because this is an Hawaii Cruise? The Unlimited Beverage package is still available on this cruise correct? What are "VAT and or taxes for certain ports" ? Will we experience this tax in any of our Hawaii ports?
