  1. Well we have had nothing but consistent, reliable and fast internet which is VERY different than every other experience we've ever had aboard a ship. We feel that this internet experience has RUINED us for any other Celebrity ships until they move the whole fleet onto Starlink ... and a week after we get home from this cruise, we'll be boarding the Solstice for an 8-day Mexican Riviera. We're already preparing ourselves for a frustrating internet experience there!!
  2. Yesterday was a sea day and the results I published here were download 24.96 mbps and upload 4.76 mbps. At present, we are sailing between St. Maarten and St. Thomas, it's about 11PM and the current speed test results are:
  3. It's about 6:30PM here on the Beyond and we're back at sea. Just ran a new speed test and here's the results:
  4. Good Morning from St. Maarten ... Day 4 aboard the Beyond! At present, we are docked in St. Maarten and it's about 10AM. Just ran a speed test ... download 82.37 mbps and upload is 33.53 mbps!!! I don't know if my numbers are that good at HOME! So, seems like the world of internet at sea is greatly improved with StarLink.
  5. It's 10PM on Day 3 here aboard the Beyond and the current download speed is 41.53 mbps and upload is 6.84 mbps. Truly, no issues with the internet at all (at least SO FAR, LOL!!)
  6. We are currently aboard the Beyond, purchased the premium package and at least so far the internet is fantastic. Considering it's a SEA DAY with a full passenger load, it still doesn't seem to be impacting the speed. Bottom line -- it's the very best internet we've found on any ship. Just did a speed test and download is 24.96 mbps and upload is 4.76 mbps. Now, I just hope I didn't jinx the overall performance!!
  7. We are currently aboard the Beyond in Sunset Veranda 8336. It is the largest SV room with the largest balcony we've ever had. I peeked around the corner and can tell you that the balconies on the cabins to either side of us are equally large. Our balcony has 2 chairs and a small table as well as 2 chaise loungers. Our beds are closer to the balcony and between the beds and the balcony door there is a huge about of space ... at least 6 feet by 8 feet .. that's VERY nice extra space to have. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I'll see what answers I can get for you while we're onboard.
  8. Greetings! We will be sailing aboard the Solstice, departing December 11 from the Los Angeles Cruiseport. We've sailed many times from Long Beach, but this will be our first time leaving from LA. We'll be driving in from Phoenix and would appreciate any recommendations for a decent hotel for the night before and where to best park our car. Since we'll only be at the hotel to sleep, it doesn't need to be anything special. Any hotels include parking for the week and shuttle us back and forth? Or should we just grab a hotel anywhere along our route in the LA vicinity, drive the rest of the way to the port the morning of departure and park the car at the terminal? Thanks in advance for your guidance.
  9. We've sailed Celebrity many times now, and we can tell you the experience is much quieter and far less action-packed than we've enjoyed on NCL. Of course, there's a disco and lots of bars and lounges ... evening shows ... even the occasional deck party. But the crowd seems to be older, more-seasoned cruisers who don't want a lot of craziness nor the crazies that create it. It's great that the cruise industry offers something for everyone, so just be clear with what YOU enjoy and choose your line and ship accordingly. That said, Celebrity is a very high quality product in terms of food, service, cabins and live music -- but it's definitely NOT similar to a Royal Caribbean, NCL or Carnival experience.
