  1. We had an A1 on floor 8. We had two small kids and also three seniors. No one cares about noise, and kids took naps with no issue.

I admit: the movies can be loud and yes you hear a bit of noise even with the door closed. We enjoyed watching the show and also the view of “nothing” (staring into the distance) after midnight from the balcony.

The only thing that did bother us was lots of soot starting day 3. Probably due to the wind. Just wipe off seats before you sit down!

I say go for it. The balcony is amazing!

  2. I travel for work and my parents go with me. I too wanted an annual policy for them. I called Nationwide and found out that the annual policy does not cover trips booked out over one year in advance. Which ...... most of our cruises are. We have ended up taking their cruise insurance. It is pricey but you also get full pre-existing waivers up to the final payment date and great medical and port change coverage.

I never knew all the small print so I highly recommend to call a company or agent the first time and discuss your travel plans. We could have really been in a bad spot.

    Happy cruising  🙂

  3. We were just on Ovation in star class. My daughter is 7 and wanted to do the bumper cars. I can tell you that we had to wait 5 turns between riding. Thus it was about a 20 minute wait (I asked our genie if that is normal and she said yes when the line is over half way around the SeaPlex). I had told my daughter that we will only use the benefit twice so waiting that long was a bit annoying when we could have just of well stood in line ... but I told her in life you take turns and she was fine.

BTW even my 71 year old parents shared a car and has an amazing time. It took me a minute to find out to reverse the car but once we did ....

we are back to star class from Hawaii to Vancouver next May. We will be hitting up the bumper cars (not the skating ... that was hot and took too long to put on the gear.)

Are you doing a few days in Hawaii in advance?

We haven’t decided. I think my boss is already not so thrilled that I may be gone for an entire 2 weeks (trust me.... my team can run the ship without me!). I would like to arrive so that we have 1 full beach day, embark and enjoy day, and then have the second day in Honolulu for Pearl Harbor! I think that is enough for us to be quite honest.

We’ve just booked this cruise too, travelling with friends. Never been to Hawaii, Quantum class ship and a virtual balcony, lots of “firsts” for us.

Come and join the roll call for this cruise.

I went to look for the roll call and cannot find it ...? Are you on there?

  6. I’m back! Lol

I gave up mid way into a review last time ... but forgive me :-) I plan to do better this next time. That said, it is quite a wait!

We are super excited though! We booked the royal loft suite on the ovation for May 7, 2020. I am having fun reading Andy C’s thread as I imagine the demographic may not have too many littles for my (then) 8 year old to hang with and lots of competition for the lounge...  but when you have a room like that ... we may just stay in the room.

Actually I am just going to be glad to be on vacation. My project will be over a few months prior and I can relax on the first 2 week vacation in forever. As icing on the cake,  I can make my dad a happy man... he has always wanted to see Pearl Harbor. He was career military.

There are not many ovation reviews, and we have never been to Hawaii,  so this will all be a bit of surprise for us!

Yeah... only a LOT of days between now and then. ( but don’t cry for me ... In August, we are in Alaska on Ovation).

    I welcome comments or recommendations!

  7. I threw golf balls at your windows today. No one came out, but your stewards looked perplexed later when they cleaned the balcony. I did see you all this morning in the cabin when I was riding. Thankfully you were all decent. LOL.

Edit: I’m joking about one of those 2 points. Which one though? MMMM

Hmmmmm so you told me you could see us .... it today I found this? Lol!

  8. I’m back!!! So first things first: desert at the chef’s table. It was delicious yet too much for me. I took mine back to the room.

We had great table mates. One couple didn’t show, but the rest made for great company.

Yep! I did ask them for permission to share pictures. No one is part of witness protection apparently.

Our dinner assistant was Boney. Amazing job!

The dinner was so nice that we offered up our room as the after party, which is where the wine bottles come into play.

We also managed to get to karaoke, Boleros and “da club”. That said, when Tuesday morning rolled around, there were multiple thoughts going through my mind, being most appropriately represented by sayings such as

    “nothing good happens after midnight”

“Leave when the party is at its best”

“How old are you?” That last one was actually my mom ...

Anyway let’s say I spent the better part of a day drinking water and getting better. As a wise old Irish man once told me “look at it this way: your day can only get better...”

I got my book read and then we went to momma Mia. I really enjoyed it even if I have seen it before. Thereafter, we went to samba grill. It was just ok. It was a bit warm and the approach was interesting. Salad bar first and then they clear the table for the meat portion... but it is preplanned courses of 8 meats. When I used to travel to Brazil, I loved the dinners at these places, but they would have multiple waiters walking around, and one could choose their cut of meat, and at that combined with other foods. I don’t know... wasn’t my thing and wouldn’t pay for it.

We called up some others who Phillip has in his charge; they wanted to hang out and said they were bored. So the four of us went to love and marriage at 10:30. OMG! Funny! I highly recommend the show.

Today I went to the gym. It had maybe 20 people at 8:30. Assuming most people were off the ship and in Cozumel! We went to port for about an hour. Came back and had lunch in coastal kitchen. We then lounged by the pool and just got back. Ran into Lisa and Andrew - was great to be able to speak for a bit!

We have the comedy club at 7; chops at 8:30 and then maybe the 70s party.

    Enjoying the view! Talk later!

  9. Wow, great review so far. We’ve never done star class but I’m so tempted and by the end of your week I might cave. Leanna is my daughter’s name, you are the first I’ve “met” with same name. Have a great week!

The name is awesome!!! I meet so few people with my name! Glad you are enjoying as you would never regret the star class!

  10. So I haven’t been very live, obviously. We had a wonderful day yesterday. This room is amazing, and my mom has already decided that instead of Alaska next year, we are going to try to book both 1720 and 1718. We have a total family of 8, so that works well.... but it means I better not meet anyone! Cause he would be 9 and no one is giving up their spot!

We ran into Andrew, Lisa and Owen on the rising rise. He gave us some great rooms hacks! I also spied him earlier in the day at the flow rider !

We went to chops last night. Get the seafood tower. I honestly don’t know if we got more than usual, but we were stuffed. So what do you do when at a steak place and you fill up on seafood? You order a steak, potatoes and asparagus on top! Yes, yes. I had a 6 oz filet on top of it :-) Shout out to Claudiu from Romania; he was amazing!!!! Ask for him

    dcdf6d2943624ffa6f9fdd46f3009d33.jpg

We then went to Karaoke [emoji441]. So fun! We had a blast for about an hour watching a very fun group of people sing and rap! We hit up Blaze for about 10 minutes (wasn’t bad, but I cannot dance well)... and then came home. To find .... cheese and wine! Which means we sat out and had wine and cheese.

I had a ton of water and hit the sheets.

Woke up at 9 this morning and ran on the track on deck 5. The crew was repairing a portion of the track, so it was turnaround city every three or so minutes. Mom and Layla went walking this afternoon and it was fixed.

Today has been boring! And I’ll take it for once. We had salad at park cafe: roast beef was delicious! Then we sat in the lounge for a while. We also tried the new vanilla bean coconut milk latte at Starbucks. It gets a meh.... wouldn’t pay for it.

I tried to read on the balcony. I got hot and came in... I feel asleep. I then woke up the sound of people delivering laundry and wine [emoji485]. We ordered tapas from vintages as the cheese last night was just a bit better than meh. High hopes folks!!!

And tonight is chefs table. It is at 6:30. Tonight is also formal night, so I guess I’ll shimmy into a dress and heels and be on my way.

    Later everyone.

  11. This has been our greatest frustration with the whole SC boarding process. 3 times on Harmony and once on Allure - we have NEVER managed to get a driver to actually take us to the SC area. They have always dropped us off around the corner. I know it's not a particularly long trek but it's disappointing to have to hike up to the flags. We have also NEVER had an incident-free event with getting our luggage. For whatever reason, they always seem to be delayed in getting our luggage up to our suite. Last time (Allure) we made a POINT of saying that we were staying with our luggage b/c of the poor history of getting our luggage delivered promptly. They insisted that we go on without our luggage and sure enough...it was almost an hour before our luggage got to our suite. I can't even venture a guess at where our luggage goes (every time !) but we have definitely NOT had the good service (with luggage delivery) that I hear others speak of.

Yeah, our luggage didn’t make it into the room, but showed up about 5 minutes after we did. Kinda odd, but we got it! I just think that the banner may cause more waiting than is worth it... they should just say to proceed to the suites entry in case of delay and to expedite the process.

  12. Checked in! We had an interesting Uber ride to the port. The guy misses the turn and I’m pretty sure he has a side job based on the three different girls who called during our 5 minute ride.

We waited in the car drop off lane quite a while; he asked us to get off in the not-quite-there-yet lane. We hiked to the star class banner and waited. After a few minutes, we walked over to the suite entrance and were assisted. Phillip is still on the boat. But Iva was helpful and check in was easy. The porter was great and friendly.

We are, however, in the hold. Hoping Phillip gets here soon and we don’t have another family already monopolizing his time . Lol

  13. You awake Swiss Miss? Rally the troops, rub your Genie bottle.... it is almost go time.

We are up! We actually hit the hay at 8pm last night, we were sooo tired. We woke up at 7 this morning and went to church down at St Sebastian and just got back! I missed out on diet Mountain Dew yesterday so I went by the Speedway to get one. That sound the cap makes when you open it... ahhhhhhh! Caffeine!

We are now in the hotel room, bags packed and getting ready to staple on the luggage tags. Check out shortly and meeting Phillip at 11am.

I haven’t gotten around to reading all the updates on your post but here we go!!

    See you soon!

Glad to see you and the ladies made it safe and sound, and are enjoying yourselves. Is Total Wine been cleaned out yet, or is that later tonight?

Ha! We actually stopped at CVS and bought a bottle of bubbly just in case we couldn’t make it to the sea level bar.

I only saw Total Wine for the first time today, as a result of this forum. I plan of making use of that star class drink inclusion! lol
