  1. I am tired of seeing people not affected by this cruise cancellation posting comments that is no big deal. As the previous two posters stated is is a very big financial and emotional deal for those whose cruise was cancelled or shortened. In my case we had reserved three cabins for a family cruise with my two adult children and their spouses. We live on the west coast so airfare was a major expense and we had arranged to fly one airline to San Juan and a different airline home. In addition both my children and their spouses had arranged their vacations around this cruise. We were on the April 15th cruise that was shortened to 4 days but coming from the west coast for a four day cruise and trying to arranged accommodations for the other three days in San Juan was not feasible. Currently, other than one phone call from Celebrity telling me our cruise was shortened, I have had to initiate all other communication. In my communications with Celebrity I have received a plethora of different information. As of now I have been told I will receive the cruise fare I paid for all three cabins returned to my credit card within two weeks. In addition, I will receive $200 per person in air fare change fees. This has been told to me but I have no written confirmation or even an e-mail apologizing and spelling out the steps needed to be reimbursed for my loss. Because we booked different airlines each way this will not nearly cover my out of pocket expenses.

I am extremely disappointed In Celebrity's response to these issues. In addition they are giving people on the cancelled cruise 25% credit toward a future cruise but those of us on the shortened cruise have been offered nothing.

Myself and my family have over 75 cruises with the RCCL brand including Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Azamara but obviously with this company loyalty only goes one way.

    Thank you for the text

And after sending an email to the link provided on this thread , I received a phone call for someone from X. They left a message telling me to call back.

  2. You're mixing up airline vouchers and ticket changes in your assumptions. If someone has a special case to make to Celebrity or the airline, they can make it and see what happens. What is being offered is enough compensation related to flights for the vast majority of people. And Celebrity just isn't going to pay the difference in what you paid last year versus what a last-minute ticket costs to a different destination now.

For my case just changing the arrival destination for SJ to Miami cost us near 800$ of cancellation fees and rebooking. The original price paid was 1200 so we had to pull out more $$$ to make everythings right. So the 200 offer from celebrity is short for us and we did not talk about the new cruise price ....

  3. (11 a.m. EDT) -- Celebrity Cruises will pull Summit from operation for a two-week emergency dry dock after ongoing problems with the ship's propulsion system continue to plague the ship. Celebrity previously shortened the March 27 sailing of Summit by one day to work on the same issue.

"Celebrity Cruises is canceling one sailing on Summit to work on an electrical issue on one of the ship's propulsion systems," said Owen Torres of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines' Global Corporate Communications division. RCCL is the parent company of Celebrity Cruises. Torres also confirmed the sailing following the canceled cruise will be shortened.

The affected sailings are the April 1 cruise, which has been completely canceled, and the April 15 sailing, which has been shortened to a four-night cruise departing San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 18. The ship is expected to return to its regular sailing schedule on April 22.

Passengers on the canceled sailing will receive a full refund, as well as a 25 percent credit of the cruise fare paid for a future cruise and $200 per person to cover any flight change fees.

Cruisers on the shortened sailing will receive a direct refund for three nights, as well as on onboard credit worth the value of one night of the cruise fare paid, plus up to $200 per person for airfare change fees and/or hotel costs in San Juan.

And not to forget the april 8th cruise [emoji6]

  4. a) Some people have totally non-refundable, non-changeable plane tickets. $200 can be far less than the amount lost.

    b) Even if the ticket could be applied to a different flight (with the change fee), it still must be used within a year of purchase, not a year from when you were going to travel. You might have as little as 30 days to reuse the ticket.

    c) Even if the ticket can be applied to a different flight, it is of no use if the airline does not fly to where you need to go for your alternate vacation. If, for example, you have a Jet Blue ticket to/from San Juan, it has no value if your alternate vacation is in California where Jet Blue does not fly to.

You resume our airline tickets modification. We lose a lot of $$$ with this mechanical trouble

  5. Trying to reschedule a cruise with 2 weeks notice during high season in the cruising world is a financial nightmare. I do not expect them to pay me for the difference in price of my new non-Celebrity cruise. But I would like them to offer me something to show that they actually want me back as a customer.

I'm with you on that point and that's what I wrote to them this morning.

  6. We our cruisers from X that are on damage control since last Thursday.

We booked on the Escape and we are looking for transfer options.

I saw that Norwegian offers shuttle for 16$ each for the embarkation and the return

I'm sure that it's 16 $ each way for one person.

But what about taking a taxi from the airport

Is it better option (cheaper and faster)

On their website they write about someone waiting for us. But is it to wait for a bigger group and leaving later when full?

So any advice will be welcome [emoji6]

  7. ATTENTION ALL CELEBRITY SUMMIT APRIL 8TH CRUISERS - PLEASE SEE BELOW:

I am not satisfied with the compensation that Celebrity is offering. I had over $2000 in extra expense to book a different cruise that is leaving a day later. I now have 3 cabins on RCL and all of them are much more expensive on the new ship. The new airfare home is much more expensive too in addition to the $200 change fee. And I have one night in a hotel for 11 people to take care of. I suggest we all ask for MORE from Celebrity Corporate - HERE IS THE CONTACT INFO FOR CELEBRITY CORPORATE:

I've just wrote an email to resume our situation and explain all the extra money we paid to save our 20th anniversary vacation trip.

So let email them to make sure they know how we feel [emoji35]

  8. For us we have travel insurance with my work and this situation is not covered.

It's so uncommon and never been detailed in the possible scenarios.

Even the lady of the insurance comp. Said covered at first. But after looking more on the case it went to sorry but it fits anywhere for refunding.

We said but the cruise is cancelled but it was not enough.....

  9. Totally get that. You CAN get a full refund if you cancel. The problem is we can only go that week. What's left right now? Nothing with Celebrity, nothing with Princess so we're stuck on a massive RCI ship that goes to worthless ports. Guess it's better than nothing, but for this privilege, we've had to pay $625 more for the RCI cabin. We lost all our perks with Celebrity (free drinks, free gratuities) and lost our $525 OBC.

Now we have to pay for internet (not free to Diamond level C&A), have to pay $7.95 for room service per day, can't bring on our own water bottles, and have to pay for laundry. SO, incredibly disappointed with Celebrity. I cannot even put into words how upset I've been since Friday when the news was dropped on us. We booked it about 15 months in advance and the two ports we were SO looking forward to were cancelled. There's no way we were going to fly from the West Coast to spend 3 nights in a hotel, pay for food and activities (which the 50% refund from Celebrity won't completely cover) and then take a little 4 night cruise to ports we've been to a bunch of times.

Oh - and our independent insurance does NOT cover this since the cruise is still happening. If Celebrity had cancelled the whole cruise, we would've gotten our $2700 in airfare back. I have literally spent hours and hours cancelling private tours, changing airfare, trying to find another cruise, and re-planning other details. SUPER frustrated.

I'm sharing you're frustration same for us

  10. As I was checking in for our family cruise from San Juan Puerto Rico on Saturday April 8, 2017 I noticed an email from Celebrity that I thought had to be spam or some type of fraud. The email notified me that the cruise was being cancelled. I thought this to be peculiar as I was on the web site checking in at the same time and from my reservation and the web page, all appeared to be in order. With only twelve days till our departure, I took no chances and contacted XXXX, one of Celebrities representatives, who after a few questions hit me with the news that our cruise had indeed been cancelled. After the initial shock I queried what Celebrity intended to do since our vacation was less then two weeks away and that the week in question was Easter/Passover week and at this point in time, alternative vacation options are either sold out or prohibitively expensive. XXXX replied that Celebrity was offering full refunds on the total cost of the cruise, 25% off a future Celebrity cruise and $200 per person for flights that are changed. This offer of compensation perplexed me and brought to light a plethora of other issues associated with such a last minute cancellation. As a former Marine and retired Law Enforcement Executive, as well as a past customer of Celebrity, I am astounded and disgusted by Celebrities approach to this cancellation. I will take a breath and attempt to summarize a few of my thoughts on this debacle. Lets address the obvious. A 25% offer on a future cruise costs nothing unless the consumer takes you up on the offer and actually trusts you in the future to provide a cruise. (XXXX further provided that the discount applies to Celebrity only, not Royal Caribbean. Are they not the same company?) The $200 refund for flight changes is exactly what the airlines charges and is once again ridiculous since the only reason I have airfare to San Juan is to get on board the ship for a cruise. In my case with a family of four, I booked though a travel agency that charges an additional $100 per person for changes to the flight so I lose $400 out of my pocket for their failure to provide the service we paid for. Now lets address the refunds. XXXX tells me that our refund for the cruise which totaled $3323.88 will be processed in a minimum of 7 days as they have an entire ship of passengers to refund. He further stated that once we submit documentation for the flight changes it will take at least 7 business days for that to be processed. As I try to make sense of this, I am at an additional deficit for planning as Celebrity holds over $4100.00 of my money for at least a week. By my calculations, that should allow me four days to find, finance and book an alternative vacation for Easter/ Passover week for my family. In my opinion, this is totally unacceptable. I fully understand the fact that things happen that are out of our control. I do not understand and will not accept Celebrities pathetic response to this situation and will seek advice regarding the rights of those of us who have been harmed by their worthless offer of compensation.

Reading your're post resume completly our situation also. It cost us big cash to change the final destination from SJ to Miami . At first it was impossible for us but finally the airline let us do it . Even if celebrity are offering 200$ PP we are losing a lot with this and adding to new cruise that we found in Miami . Like U said the time of year and the last minute cancellation work big time against us. The deal with celebrity is now replace with a pricier new cruise 😲. The offer of 25% is boggus for us since we don' t plan to sail for the year to come. And worst if you're right and not usable for RC that adds more frustration.

So adding all of this and the lack of help from our TA to find a backup plan. We worked hard and did so many calls to try saving this vacation.

Surely not the best things to be in relax mode before the cruise.

  11. You will love the Escape! Sometimes its nice to sail another line and experience some new things. What I liked about NCL was they have a MDR open for lunch on embarkation day. They actually have three MDRs. One large one with a dance floor and live music and two smaller ones that have the flavor of a specialty restaurant. If you are a party of two NCL seats you at a table for four and removes the extra set ups. No table two inches away like on X. There are coffee machines in the cabins. There are phone charger outlets on the bedside lamps. The specialty restaurants cover prices are lower than X. The District Brewhouse is a great draft/craft beer place. Lastly, The Waterfront area is a great concept for those of us who want to sit in the shade and look at the sea....

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

    So great news [emoji106] [emoji41]

  12. I called xcruise today and they offer 25%

for a future cruise good for one year.

And for the 200$ and my situation having flight with flyhub. Having already replace my cruise and flights they asked to send all the documents of the new flights and the cancelation they credit 200$ pp on our credit card.

Getting better and more relax .[emoji41]

All of this rushed everyone like us that was unable to push back our vacation time .

  13. The Summit mayhem pushed us to find another sail on the 8th or 9th. Finally found one leaving from miami instead since San juan was no more an option. I've been working late on that case. The worst part is our flight hub airplane tickets. No refund possible just able to have a credit to another flight Mtl to SJ with the same airline comp. It was tough to be able to change the arrival from Sj to Miami. At first they were not ok with that but finally I got it.

Now I know that xcruise will refund the cruise fare on the summit booked with the TA . I need to call them for all the add on and excursions already paid and the how will work the future credit of 25 or 30 % for a future cruise and what is the deal with the 200$ pp for arrangement for modifying airplane planning.

How long they will be active and how to redeem thoses perks

I did not wish all of this for my 20th wedding celebration holiday

  14. Ive call capital one and no chance for refund even my protection plan at my job don t cover this kind of thing.

They said mechanical problem not covered.

I said to them iťs worst ... Iťs a complete cancelation from celebrity .

I'm sure we are a lot beiing let down with that
