I ended up "holding" my cabin last night for 24 hours by calling RC and just put down the deposit this morning and the price went down $100. I was terrified of booking last night in fear of what deal would be today :)

My thinking too, was that there is no comparison. Glad to show my husband I'm not alone in my thinking :)
I think I've convinced him to do Allure this time as it fits our budget for the two of us and next time we can do Carnival with the kids

Thanks everyone! We'd even consider it if it was a guaranteed interior just to go on the boat, but with it being a Balcony I thought there must be some catch. My husband hasn't been on Carnival so he really wants to try it, however I think I've convinced him that since this falls in our budget for the two of us, next time we can do Carnival and take the kids too :)

Which should my husband and I go for? We are in our 30s and it's for our 10 year anniversary. The price is pretty much the same for all and the ships go pretty much the same places. We've been on RC before (most recently 10 years ago) and I've been on Carnival once 20 years ago. We took the kids on Disney last year but this trip is for us (no kids).
Pros/Cons of each?
Which would you choose?
We cannot decide :)

I've been searching for a few weeks for a cruise for my husband and myself. We were originally looking at Carnival (either Magic or Conquest) for our budget. I haven't cruised on Carnival in 20 years and he never has. We were on Royal Caribbean 10 years ago on Sovereign of the seas and booked an inside guarantee and had an interior room that was teeny tiny but to us it didn't matter at the time.
So the Allure now has a neighborhood balcony guarantee (XN) for the date we were looking at on the Carnival ships for a little less than what Carnival wants for a Balcony. The weird thing is the Interior room is 200 more per person and the Oceanview Rate is 300 more per person on Allure for same sail date. When I price the going rate for the same neighborhood balcony for the time period it's $650 (total for both) more to "choose" the room today.
My questions are-
Am I stupid not to jump on this rate while it's available? We want a balcony and aren't really picky.
How bad could the room/balcony be?
Should we do Carnival (magic or conquest) over Allure?

I'd be a mess going the day of if it was more than an hour drive. I'd also check around to see if your hotel or another offers a discount for port parking. That way you could save a little money there as well :)

We will always park at the port too! We stayed in Titusville on the way to PC and received the 40% offer. It couldn't have been easier to redeem! Definitely Will do this for future cruises

Sounds like a blast! Charleston is the closest port for us and it's great to know you had a great time! Glad to hear about them putting in a Guys and Blue iguana as well!

We stayed in a 4E cabin on the Dream and found it to be awesome! The kids club was literally around the corner from the room. The extended balcony was also nice. There were four of us in the cabin and it suited us well.

How private are the "private" balconies on the Allure of the Seas?
