  1. Thought I would put in my two cents worth since we have sailed both Oceania and Regent pre- and post-Covid.  Prior to Regent our favorite line was Oceania.  We have only sailed Riviera and Marina so I don’t know about the older or newer ships.  We found the service and food excellent pre-covid, especially in the Specialty restaurants.  We switched to Regent because when my husband did an apples to apples comparison for the same itinerary and found that Regent was about the same price but with more included.  Once we were on Regent we were hooked.  We took one more Oceania cruise to the Amazon post Covid.  The quality of the food and service had dropped precipitously.  The main dining room was so bad that it was always empty because people gave up on waiting for poorly prepared food.  We have taken several Regent cruises post Covid and all were wonderful.  I am booked on the Mariner on the Sydney to Abu Dhabi segment this March.  I cannot wait.

  2. I feel really bad for those whose cruises were cancelled and for the World Cruisers whose trip of a lifetime turned upside down. For once things went in my favor.  I board in Sydney and disembark in Abu Dhabi.  I look forward to meeting many of you when I get home on.

  3. The buffet looks fabulous and a welcome change.  Most people seem to love Sette Mari, but after a while one gets to know the menu by heart and there is a need for something different.  Do they let you eat outside after you get your food off the buffet?  Can't wait to join the Mariner on March 1.

  4. I am going on the 2024 WC segment from Sydney to Abu Dhabi so. Had to get my own visas.  Australia was very easy so I was willing to try my hand at the others.  Indonesia was a bear, as others have said, but I finally got it approved.  Sri Lanka was not too bad.  India was a nightmare because I am doing the Taj Mahal overland, and there were questions only Regent or Visa Central could answer.  I gave up on Visa Central because no one was picking up my call.  I finally got a very nice young woman at Regent Operations who was able to answer all of my questions.  At the end she said that so many guests were having trouble that they have someone on the ship who will handle the process for us for $38 including the visa.  I gave it one more try and decided to let Regent handle it.  She also informed me that Visa Central is very shorthanded so it is better to do things myself.

I didn't know you could get 1/2 order of popcorn sundae. Thanks for the info.  I will certainly try that!

I have gotten them down to a mini popcorn sundae like the luncheon size on Splendor, etc.  It takes a few tries (over several meals) but they get it.  It saves a lot of waste.

  6. My husband and I have been using Travel Guard insurance through our travel agent for many years.  This past May we finally had to file a claim.  Two weeks before we were supposed to board the Regent Navigator for a 78 day cruise through Northern Europe, my husband had a major stroke.  We contacted our agent two days later.  We provided all of the required documents two weeks later.  It is now five months later.  Travel Guard says that the claim is still under review.  Both my travel agent and I have contacted Travel Guard directly, to no avail.  It is true that this was a large claim, but they should have resolved it rapidly once they received the necessary medical and other documents.  My advice is -- do not use Travel Guard if you are afraid of having to file a claim.  You may never get your money back.

    Hi Ladys Mom,

My husband and I are also booked on the Regent 2024 world cruise.  Nice to meet you.  Have you cruised with Regent before?

We have happily sailed on Regent close to three hundred nights and we are looking forward to January.

Nothing like getting back from a day of touring, ringing room service for drinks and snacks to enjoy on your balcony during a sunset sail away! Life in a Regent ship is hard🤣IMG_0739.thumb.jpeg.110785960b1dc845ebfe228893904496.jpeg

We can't wait to get on.  That is Regent.  Whatever you want, if they can do it, they will make it happen.  I think for those of us of a certain age, a Regent cruise is the "happiest place on earth".

  9. We started getting trip insurance because of elderly family members.  Since then we got older and purchased it for ourselves (just in case).  Had a couple of small claims over the years, such as the time our luggage wasn't delivered from the plane to the ship for five days and we needed to purchase some clothes to wear.  When Crystal went under, our travel insurance reimbursed us for the loss.  It took a while, but we got most of the money back.  With very long cruises in the offing (70-132) days, we would never travel without it.

  10. They have just cheapened the Regent experience.  Receiving the documents in the envelope always made the cruise experience start out on a special note.  Now getting documents from a regent will feel no more special than what we would receive from any mainline cruise line.  Bad form Regent!  JMHO

  11. We did three Azamara cruises before the pandemic.  It also was before RCCL sold them off.  While we liked Azamara, what we love about Regent is that everything is included and the crew are friendly and attentive.  If your first Regent cruise is on the Splendor then you are starting with what we consider the "best".  It is the newest ship, until Grandeur sails in November and the most luxurious.  No matter what level suite you are in you will feel comfortable and pampered.  The food at all five of the restaurants is outstanding, though we favor Compass Rose because of its variety and ability to customize your meal to your liking.  If you ask 24 hours ahead, they will even make you a dish that is not on the menu.  The included wines have always been satisfactory for us.  If you get to know the Somelier, they will find wines that are to your liking and expectations.

Thank you, last September we were in a Penthouse Suite and it was there but these cruises we are in a Superior suite! We will leave a note!

We have found a note to a Stateroom Attendant or a Butler works really well throughout a cruise for whatever you need.  We saw our Butler take the note out of his pocket and check that he filled someone's request.  When they have so many suites to take care of, a written reminder is easier than trying to remember everything.

  13. I have sailed on three Azamara cruises and many RSSC cruises.  The Azamara cruises were all before they were sold by RCL and before the pandemic.  Our first two were in Veranda, with its infamous shower curtain, our last was in a Club Continent suite.  We always found the crew, and especially the senior officers to be incredibly friendly.  The food was good, but not outstanding.  Entertainment was minimal with not even a proper showroom.  For our last cruise we went all out of self-purchased business class fare, the full alcohol package, and purchased shore excursions in every port.  The cruise was from Amsterdam to London.  We had a marvelous time and count that cruise as one of the best we have ever had.  The service we received was augmented by the service we were granted as high-level members of their loyalty program.  Our main reason for not continuing on Azamara is that we love longer cruises and Regent's all-inclusive program fits us to a tee.
