  1. Confused. What is waitlisted for Your Time Dining? When we booked they asked if we wanted YTD or a selected time and we said YTD. Do I now have to get on a waiting list to eat in the main dining room? I thought we just show up when we want to eat and when a seat is available they seat you like in a restaurant? I'm so confused by all the terminology!

  2. Good to know. We currently have my husband and son in a 3 person room because his best friend was thinking about coming with us, but he's flaked out on us. I've put off changing the room to a 2 person (it would save us money) but then I got worried that maybe it was sold out. Maybe there's time to reduce to a 2 person room! I would think with 43 days left his friend isn't coming. His main reason for not coming? He can't go that long without Mountain Dew......don't get me started.........

  3. I ordered ours off Etsy. They are really cute! The guy did a great job on them. We got each kid a cinch bag with the same logo on it, then everyone a shirt. The bags are doubling as their Easter baskets this year (then filling them with water shoes, new beach towels, goggles, etc) Funny story: I ordered them and got everyone in the family their favorite colors. Pink for myself and both daughters, blue for our son, and green for my husband. I thought they'd be cute for embarkation day. My husband said "I am NOT wearing that". I said he was at least for a picture. His rationale behind refusing? He doesn't want to look like a tourist!!!!! Ummmmmmm....we are on a cruise ship. Either we look like a tourist or an employee. There's no in between! Ha ha. I can't wait!

  4. Conquest already has Guy's Burger Joint and Blue Iguana Cantina.

There is also a free/included barbecue place on Deck 10 (above the Lido buffet) called Ol' Fashioned BBQ, which we liked a lot. It's not branded as Guy's BBQ, but it was still good.

People don't usually discover its location until the third day or so. :)

Good to know! Thank you for that information!

  5. Thank you for sharing this. I totally mistook what this was... and I shouldn't have. It's called "chat" - not messaging. It is a chat app, not a messaging app. We'll go with something more robust to the realities of life aboard ship, not relying on both of us to be staring at our phones all the time waiting for a message! :)

I agree. Wow....I thought it was more of a messaging thing where you could get messages and check when you want with notifications. Bummer. I don't want to be staring at my phone constantly. but a quick "hey, I took the kids to the room to change" would be nice to send!

  6. I think this is a great price! I can't wait to try it! Last year when we were on the Independence of the Seas, I had no way to get ahold of my husband when he abandoned me for the casino! I had no clue where he went. I wanted to read for a little bit by the pool and he said he was going to go explore and "be right back". 3 hours later I finally gave up and went back to the room! This year, bringing kids, I wanted a way to stay connected. Heck, $5/person for the whole cruise?! Much cheaper than walkie-talkies, AND I wouldn't want to carry those around anyways!

  7. I'm not sure about Carnival, but when we did Royal Caribbean last year, as soon as we got our cards there were kiosks before getting on the ship that were selling the lanyards. They were good price too. I like using a lanyard because I don't want to have to carry a purse or worry if I have no pockets. Plus, for drinks, they put a sticker on your card and you'd have to flash your card to get a drink. By wearing the lanyard, I didn't even have to show them half the time. They saw it before I could even offer to show my card.

This time, we are bringing the kids for the first time so I went to Etsy and Amazon and ordered lanyards for everyone and we will have them with us ready to go!

  8. We are staying at the Fairfield Inn. I picked this one because after calling all of the Marriotts in the area, this one had free airport shuttle, and only $10/person from the hotel to the port. Then, they do a free shuttle to a restaurant called Rustic Inn where I looked up the menu and it looks amazing!

  9. Anyway, I love the Havana area. Very quiet and relaxing. The only way I would do this ship again is in a Havana cabin of some sort. Inside would be fine. I enjoy the balcony, but I haven't spent much time on it. I have been busy, busy, busy. Walking a LOT!! So from now on I will stick with insides and OVs. Not worth the extra money IMHO. I know there are those who feverishly disagree, and that's fine. Do your thing. It's just not that big of a deal to me. I don't eat breakfast or drink coffee so that argument is invalid in my world.

I have only sailed one other time and we had an inner cabin. My husband's work sent us on the trip and we didn't complain one bit about having an inner cabin. This time, we purposely booked and inner cabin because I just know that we barely ever spent time in our room except to sleep. I didn't need windows or a balcony. I'd rather save the money and spend it on excursions or souvenirs. BUT that's the nice thing about cruising.....everyone can do it their own way!

  10. As with any medication, even over the counter, there is side effects that sound scary. If you are concerned about how your or your family will react to the meds, try them first before getting on the ship. See if you feel anything. If you have negative side effects, then you know not to try it on the ship when it could potentially make your trip not as good.
