Price was too expensive when we were on the Ruby this year.......for a 7 day expect around a bit under $300pp
WOW!! My sister is on the Sapphire right now and they paid $250 for both of them for a 14 day cruise. She said it was $199 for one person. Sounds like the prices are different all over the fleet.

I'm a big fan of the 3 for 3 promo and it should be coming up soon. It gives you paid gratuities, which can save you around $100 per person for a 7 day cruise. You also get some on-board credit. We are getting $100 each for our 7 day. The third is an upgrade in your cabin category.
If you are a drinker, there is also a promo (I think in the Spring) that gives you a free drink package.

My sister is currently on the Sapphire and was telling me about the Thermal Suite. I'm wondering if the thermal suite is the same on the Star. Can anyone tell me exactly what is available in the thermal suite on the Star?
Also, does anyone know the current price for a 7-day cruise? Thanks!

Thermal suite is a place with steam saunas (eucaliptus and regular) both coed, multiple showers to rinse off, and about five stone tiled warm lounge beds to lie on and relax. We enjoy it sometimes.....but be aware it is dark in there......no windows.....but quiet soft music .......low lights.
Is that what is available on the Star? I'm getting the impression that what is in the thermal suite is different on various ships.

My sister and bother-in-law are currently on the Sapphire. They said that it is $199 for one person or $250 for two. They are on a 14-day cruise and that price is for the entire cruise.

Which ships have gelato? I thought it was all of them, but apparently, that's not the case. The website says just Royal and Regal, butt I know that the Ruby has it. Anyone know? Thanks!

I'm with your thinking.
What do those people actually get out of a stuffed bear of a person in a bear costume? I could understand if they were sailing with their grand kids but not to get excited otherwise.
It's more like going into a second childhood phase of life.
I don't understand why anyone would want to do a city bus tour or sit by the pool all day. Everyone has different interests, which is good. Fortunately, no one is forced to care about Stanley and I'm not forced to go on a city bus tour. 😃

When I cruise with my Mom in the same cabin, it's like I'm Elite, too. When my parents cruised with my sister & bro-in-law, they were in a separate cabin, but were told to go ahead and board with my parents. That was in Seattle. (the area is pretty small there).

Sis and I often joke that the only reason we go to Alaska is to make a trip to The Alaskan Fudge Co. in Juneau. We might just riot if we couldn't bring back our chocolate treasure.
Truth is no one has ever asked what was in our bags anywhere we have been.
Your post made me realize that I brought candy on board from the shop in Ketchikan (which everyone sold visit, by the way). They were in a bag and box, but not pre-packaged. Like you, no one looked or asked what was in our bags. I even brought back chocolate-covered oreos from that shop for our Cruise Director and no one batted an eye when I left them for him at Guest Services.

Oh I hope this does come about. I can only have caffeine free and this would give me so many more choices.
I agree! I love these machines so I can have caf-free diet coke with flavors. I never get a soda package, but with freestyle machines, I would be tempted.

Has anyone done the GoCar Tours? I'm wondering if it's worth it and how comfortable the little car is.
Any info would be great.

The waterfront is always fun and interesting. Ivar's is a Seattle staple for lunch. There is a big ferris-type wheel that is fun and you get amazing views of Puget Sound. At the same location, there is Wings Over Washington. It's kind of like a ride and you "soar" over beautiful scenery from all over Washington state.

I guess I just do not understand the big deal about stuffed animals. My kids had stuffed animals and my grandkids had stuffed animals but they all gave them up very quickly when they grew past 5 or 6.

I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been snarky. I apologize.
Many people love Stanley because he's fun. I grew up never getting over toys and stuffed animals. I have a few in my house. They make me happy. My Mom & I each got a Stanley on our Alaska cruise in May 2015. We buy him a little pin for his hat from every port. When I see him over there on the cedar chest, he reminds me of our cruise and gets me excited for the next one. 😃

Figured it out, there HAS to be a child, nope, we can't go if it's only adults. SIGH
That sucks! They should have one for adults. I would go. 😃

My parents did it for me in October. They immediately booked my Mom & I on a cruise using the FCD, too.
There may be many factors that go into whether or not they will do it. I have the same unique last name as my parents, we were booking a cruise right then, the Future Cruise person didn't care...who knows.
It never hurts to give it a try, though. 😃
PS: I can't imagine that they would charge a credit card number that isn't there. If they are willing to let your friend get your the deposit, I think it would go on their card.

I'll add another vote for the 3 for 3 deal. The in-category upgrade doesn't matter too much to me, but the on-board credit is great and the paid gratuities is wonderful. That's just extra OBC. For my next cruise in September, I'm thinking that the free gratuities and the OBC we're getting will cover any on-board expenses we may have. I usually buy a few photos, a couple small souvenirs in the gift shop and maybe one dinner in a specialty restaurant. It's nice to not have to budget extra money for those things.
I don't really drink, so the Sip & Sail doesn't interest me, but for those who buy many drinks, that can be a big money-saver.

We are on the Star in September and the water is available to buy. 12 bottles for $7.08. It's under "beverage packages."

When on Ruby last September the new menu experiment was in full effect. The changes were not substantial in my opinion though yes some old favorites were gone. Overall though IMHO if you liked the old, you'll like the new.
Do you recall which "old favorites" were gone?

I'm cruising on the Star in September and nothing is listed yet. I bet if it goes well, they will add it to other sailings. I'm 48 and I admit, I would probably go. 😃

I agree with the others, if you do that flight, make sure you can walk off with your luggage and have transportation set. I think it's doable, but the stress would be too much for me. 😉

I wore black dress pants and a nice top to formal night on our Alaska cruise and I'll be wearing black dress pants and a nice top on our next cruise for formal night. We saw people in jeans and a tee at formal night in the MDR. A lot of women don't wear dresses anymore. Dress pants and a "fancy" top are lovely.

Fruit tartlets at the IC. I ate so many! 😃
Missing photos on USB - Can you still get them?

I had this happen to me and the answer is a big fat no, which really sucks. Next time, I am going to use the computer room to check before I get off the ship. They delete all the photos by the time we are disembarking. Sorry about that.
