  1. Heading into cooler waters. Scheduled to cross through the Magellan Straits/Passage tomorrow to Punta Arenas.
  2. We got closer than Mic, but did not actually cross the Antarctic Circle. We did get our Blue Nose when we crossed the Arctic Circle, north of Iceland.
  3. It's getting more windy , and colder . We had to offload a guy at Mar del Plata for a medical issue . We hope and pray that they are getting the treatment that they need and that they are getting better . CC Meeting went well. Several officers, Cruise Director and Food and Beverage showed up. Thank you ziggyuk for your planning and organizing.
  4. I won’t be posting the Daily, but I can tell what the lectures are if you like . I will post photos of the Freestyle Daily’s after we get home. Along with many other photos of the trip. Scheduled lectures tomorrow are Intro to the Antarctica Program, A Short History of the End of the World, I have not seen any lectures on tv yet.
  5. Good morning Montevideo . We had a ripping rain storm for about 2 hours just before left last night .
  6. The area has been restored well here . Yesterday there were numerous complaints of 2 hour tender waits . They use a shuttle bus system at the port here . A bus brings people from the ship to the terminal and people embark to the ship normally . But now we don’t know, but will update when we find out.
  7. The ships did all leave -Celebrity Eclipse 19:30, Symphony of the Seas 19:45 and MSC Lyrica 20:00. Don’t know what held them up, but they are now at sea. We are the only cruise ship tomorrow (to the best of my knowledge). Hopefully smooth sailing. FYI, Monday’s temperature is projected to 31C for Montevideo. 😎
  8. We will begin our cruise tomorrow afternoon. Thank you for the address, hoping our taxi will know the way. Our guide told us about the hurricane force winds (110mph) that damaged the cruise port.
  9. Of the 2 ships that were to sail none have left. Celebrity 1 1/2 hour , MSC 1/2 hour ago. RCCL is scheduled to sail in 1/2 hour. So wait and see .
  10. The down side to us doing this tour now is that we miss the nice weather at home . The day that we took the train to Miami it was in the upper 50’s at night and the low 70’s in the day , which we love . We set our AC at 68 F at night to sleep cool and well and drown out the new , loud neighbors . The AC here is anemic . When you set it for 19 C here is only reaches 22 C = 72 F after fixing it . The day temp here is like a Spring or a Fall day where we live - 86 F .We can’t wait to board the ship and go South for the Winter for some cooler temperatures tomorrow . This afternoon we hope to see an RCCL , MSC and our old favorite , the Celebrity Eclipse sail away this afternoon . We should see the NCL Star on the horizon at sunrise from our room .
  11. Sorry about that . We are currently obsessed with our own trip . We did make it to the Hotel at 9 PM last night , 2 hours ahead of EST . A very long day yesterday . At the check in line with Aerolineas Argentinas , they made us change the weight and contents in all 4 bags . 1 overweight bag cost $100 . English is no longer the most common way of talking in the City of my birth , Miami , Florida . After take off all of the shades we pulled and everyone except the Americans went to sleep for most of the flight except meals . Lights on inside , but no open shades - weird to us . It is an adventure . One day to tour , today and board the Star tomorrow , we hope . .
  12. Having our last lunch at home and waiting for our eldest grandson to give us a ride to the Brightline station . It will be interesting to compare it to the Sapsan from Saint Petersburg to Moscow and back .
  13. Our driver asked if we wanted to go back a different way and we said sure . It's a good thing that we did .It was more scenic And a tourist had rented a car to DIY and got stuck . A local tried to help them and they both got stuck Our driver asked us to get out for safety and pulled them both out . Three vehicles in a row . No more adventure until we got to the city . 20,000 whales we killed by this gun The Whalebone arch to the church We wanted to have fish and chips and a pint here but went shopping instead A rainbow in the sky - God's promise never to destroy the earth by a flood again The next time that God destroys the Earth will be by fire the Bible says . We thought of that when we heard and saw the weapons of the RAF If you purchase anything in Pounds Sterling , you will receive change in the local currency , not accepted in the UK . The expedition ship was boarding also We prefered our enclosed tenders
  14. Currently packing for our Train ride to Miami where we spent the night in the hotel tomorrow . Early morning flight to Buenos Aires Friday but we lose 2 hours so it will be late there . One day to tour BA or some spare time if someting goes wrong with the flight .
  15. On the move going fishing Follow the leader toward the beach Mr and Mrs Upland Geese Not many of these Penquins here . Because they bray like an Jacka** and live in holes the guide told us to watch our step there and " Don't step in a Jacka** hole " .
  16. Gentoos ! This lady had crossed the rock boundry line . We didn't see if she went to the naughty room as we were to busy taking photos . The Falklands is something to crow about ! Even for the chicks in the crowd . Note the sharp teeth on the bill for catching fish ( OR FINGERS THAT GET TOO CLOSE )
  17. We read that the tender operations didn't go well today and that a group went an hour early and wound up being up on the 13 th tender . They are still in port at least 1/2 late after being there 10 hours ! We still feel like reducing our time to 7 hours from 8 is ridiculous in a tender port . 😲
  18. Yes , we would recommend them !! You don't have to pay them until you are where the penguins are , $ 200 cash p.p. and a box lunch included which is when we were paid . The last time they required pounds Sterling . Gentoo and chicks are next . 😊
  19. No worries , we want to take of the people who take care of us . We usually Tip extra part way through because sometimes on longer cruises they change people . We went last year from the last Alaska cruise all the way back to Ft. Lauderdale , so it counted as several cruises . We had several people who's contracts expired at different points along the 5 week cruise .
  20. Thank you , but who cleans the room , and makes the beds , takes laundry etc ? Is that included in the price of the suite ?
  21. The Kings , do not cross the rock boundry around the Kings or Gentoo as you may wind up in the Truck naughty room . We were some of the first people there . Don't forget your jacket in the truck , it was cold and windy . Syncronized snoozing Scratching
