  1. If you are already on the ship, you will have to take part in the 5:45 PM (5:30?) muster drill. Every facility on the ship shuts down and employees will usher you towards your muster station. Stateroom attendants make sure all cabins are empty and there will even be crew at every staircase landing to keep you from wandering back to other parts of the ship. You might be able to hide in a bathroom but why? Dinner service is scheduled a half hour later than normal on the first night to accommodate the muster drill. The later (8:15 PM) drill is only meant for those passengers who boarded after the main muster has started.

  2. In my (limited) experience, the waiter will ask if you want to wait for other people at the table to arrive. I think it's polite to mention to your table if you have reservations at a specialty restaurant. On one day my last cruise we had a couple arrive an hour late for the early seating due to the husband's motion sickness acting up. We were ordering dessert while they ordered appetizers.

I'm curious if the waiters can check whether you have specialty reservations. Anyone know?

  3. It seems like some people just don't understand that while the eye of the hurricane is past Puerto Rico, there was still massive wind and rain battering the island all day yesterday. It was literally not safe to come outside and evaluate the damage. Today they can START that process. It is unreasonable to expect answers already!

  4. I love the Costa Maya excursion that you recommended. My only concern is that we won't have enough time to do it. We are supposed to be in port from 12-7 and the tour is 5.5 hrs long. It said that the tour starts 1 hr after the ship docks so that would be cutting it really close. Since this is my first cruise, I am not sure how all of the timing works.

    Thanks for the suggestions

If that excursion shows up in your Cruise Planner, you won't have to worry about the length. They will only offer excursions that fit the time frame. But just in case, a benefit of booking an excursion through Royal is that the ship will wait for you if the excursion doesn't get back at the planned time. (On the flip side, booking through a tour company on your own is often cheaper but then you do run the risk of missing the ship.)

  5. While not exactly fare based, Celebrity awards varying points/night based on cabin category booked. Much fairer way to "reward" loyalty, IMHO. So, Royal doesn't have to look very far to see another method.

How does different points per cabin category reward loyalty? A first time cruiser can book the most expensive category and get the most points per night. That's not loyalty. That's just money.

  6. How would you use your OBC from a TA?

You will have to wait until you are actually on board the ship to use your On Board Credit from a TA. From what I've read, it will show up as a credit to your account on day 2 of your cruise. If you have a lot of OBC and don't expect to spend much on the ship, you might consider not prepaying your gratuities just so you will have a way to use up the OBC!

  7. Here's some information I found at http://www.royalcaribbeanincentives.com/full-ship-charter-faqs/

"How far in advance should an organization charter the ship?

Royal Caribbean International does not typically consider Full Ship Charter requests within 6 months of the requested sail date and/or for those sailings booked above a pre-determined threshold. Most clients charter one year in advance and some as far out as two or more years. For Re-Sale charters, it is in the best interest of the client to allow ample time to promote the charter (9 months+). The cost of displacing booked guests will be a factor for any “open” sailing and will generally be lower if the charter is contracted farther out."

It sounds like charters for 2018 are most likely already booked because there would be too many already booked customers to displace.

  8. Due to finish in december. Adventure is svheduled to stop at martinque til the middle of november. www.cruisetimetables.com/cruises-to-fort-de-france-martinique.html

Can find details here as RCCL have no interest in giving ptior notice. Also Caribbean ship spotting on Instagram have updated pictures of works

I don't get why you posted that website. It doesn't say anything about the dredging schedule and it shows Adventure going to St Lucia (except for the July 19th sailing). Did you mean that as each cruise gets closer, that website will update before Royal admits the Adventure will sail to Martinique again?

  9. I don't have a negative balance yet because I'm still more than a month before final payment and still had ~$1300 to go. I'm now seeing a balance of ~$500. My cruise planner costs (all excursions) are ~$800 which explains the difference. The thing is, I can't find anywhere that shows the sum of those cruise planner costs. I can go to each individual excursion and it shows balance $0 but no summary. There also used to be a payment history that has disappeared.

It's as if they are showing all payments as applied to the cruise balance even though one of the payments was the result of checking out in cruise planner. They are effectively double counting that payment!

  10. I'm interested to see what happens with the June 10 sailing. However, the itinerary on the website shows the original itinerary. If it changes, I don't mind. If you know something I don't, please post it.

June 10's itinerary doesn't go to St Lucia. Adventure rotates through 3 different itineraries. The next possibly effected cruise is June 24th.

  11. Adventure only sails the itinerary that includes St. Lucia every third week. The May 13th sailing was the first (and so far only) sailing that went to Martinique. We're all waiting to hear for sure what happens with tomorrow's sailing (June 3rd). People that have called RCI say they are being told they are still going to St. Lucia. Royal scared a lot of people by updating the itinerary online which then showed the change for all future sailings of that itinerary also. Personally, I'm betting the May 13th sailing will end up being the only one that actually changed. Ask again once tomorrow's guests start boarding!
