  1. I've read that you will need to make reservations for the shows on Seaside but it hasn't been confirmed by anyone onboard yet that I've seen.

Water slides won't be used yet, it's cold in Italy right now and there wouldn't be many children on a TA for 3 weeks at this time of year.

Shows were great on Divina and the video clips I've seen from Seaside look fantastic.

I'm on the inaugural from Miami so can hopefully give you better info then.

Music we be thru out the ship and you don't have to reserve seats for the shows, go eat when we get on.
  2. On the Divina there are a limited number of passes that can be purchased for non-YC passengers. They are approx. $100 for a full day, $50 for dinner. I haven't heard if this will be done on Seaside yet.

We traveled with guests in Aurea and they came to our room to see it, but I wouldn't host a party in my room. I believe the mini-bar and room service is for your use, not a party. To me that would be like going to any bar on the ship and using my YC card to order a round of drinks for my hypothetical group of 10 friends who didn't purchase a drinks package.

I like the quiet pool with no need to hunt for a lounger. I like the roomy Top Sail Lounge without waiting and pouncing on a table when one becomes available. If you're bringing your friends and family who didn't book YC with you, that is not going to be the same YC that you paid for.

  3. We'll be onboard in less than 3 weeks and I can understand your view. No one's critique will change my excitement. Everyone has different taste - that's why we have so much choice! The ship looks absolutely amazing and I can't wait to see it for myself!

While I understand the fascination with the Seaside, we will be sailing less than a month, I find many of the critiques somewhat absurd. Some comments about the furnishings, certain design elements, the layouts of the rooms, etc. can be viewed as very depressing. I think we build things up and when they don't reflect what we thought it was going to be, it can result in a negative reaction. My test will be actually going on the ship and not parse through all the videos to arrive at a pre-conceived perception how the cruise will actually be and the issues, if any, we may have.
  4. To me this just shows that you can't please everyone. This cabin isn't deluxe in any way to my taste. I don't like the chairs, colors, or the wood or the tiles in the bathroom. But some may love it. I'm glad there's a lot of choice out there for everyone.

I agree that much of the YC experience is the private facilities, dining, service, etc., however if to use an example of one of my first inside cabins, I really don't understand why they can't do better? Example, the Celebrity Century's cheapest inside cabins below, notice how large & deluxe they are. Nice bathrooms too:

  5. My initial reaction has been that I prefer the 2 separate areas as well. But I'm willing to give it a try. :) I love the outdoor space in front of Top Sail.

I've also heard they'll absolutely adjust tables for 2 or 4 as needed for YC guests.

The same goes for the dining experience.

On Meraviglia, we dined at a 2-top at the front of the ship and enjoyed the vista. The restaurant set-up on Seaside doesn't lend itself to a nice, cozy, intimate evening dinner, either! I much prefer the separate restaurant and Top Sail Lounge on Meraviglia. That's 2 cozy, intimate venues in YC that Seaside has forfeited - and, for what?

  6. While I'm happy for you, I hate hearing this, lol. (said in a joking way)

I double checked and had my TA call about the price for my son because I thought (hoped) he'd be free. But it's paid for and done. We're on board in 3 weeks. I'm looking ahead to a fantastic week.

Btw, are you in the US? Someone from Australia has her children sailing free in YC Christmas week. I know there are different promotions in different countries.

We're sailing Christmas week next year - 12/22/18 departure. The cost for DD (3rd passenger in cabin) is $153.16. That cruise was mis-priced for awhile, though, so maybe that price is not typical.

  7. Wow, is that wardrobe tiny. I brought 14 dresses on the Divina in August (I know, maybe a few too many, lol) and my husband brought a tux and a white dinner jacket. There will hardly be room for his tux much less a dress in this wardrobe. That's disappointing.

Updated to say, just saw the video of the YC Deluxe Suite and happy to say there are two wardrobes. They will be very much needed with 4 of us traveling this Christmas. Whew!

This gives a better impression of the YC accessible interior. I think the last video of it had far too many people in the room to give an accurate impression of size.

  8. With a 10% discount, my 11 year old was just over $400 and my 15 year old was just over $500 for our Christmas cruise as the 3rd and 4th passengers in the cabin. I was told kids 11 and under don't cruise free in YC for Christmas. I'm not sure if they're ever free in YC. I believe they are.

We have 3 cruises booked in the YC on Seaside with our 14yo DD. For all 3, the price for DD was less than $200. No special promotions that I was aware of.

  9. You're onboard now Sunshine? I've been curious about the YC wardrobes. All of the videos focus on the bathroom and don't skip right over the wardrobe. I was wondering how big it is. I liked the walk in closet on Divina and thinking the wardrobe will be small...

Regarding YC - this is what I was expecting. The beds are plush, the cabins are larger (not huge but enough to make a difference), the balcony slightly larger than standard balcony, the bathrooms are larger (and marble), and the closet is larger. Nothing is spectacularly different about the cabin. But there is enough of a difference especially when enhanced by prosecco and strawberries, a mini bar, and a butler. When you add that you are steps away from the Top Sail Lounge on One Pool/Bar - these become extensions of the living area. So it's not the furnishings as much as the experience.
  10. I've seen people turned away from the MDR on the Divina wearing shorts on formal night, so I would at least try to make an effort...long pants, collared shirt, doesn't have to be formal but same as you'd wear to any nice restaurant would be appropriate.

Been on Divina 3 times in this year. Regardless of this: 'men are required to put on suits or jackets and ties.'

MSC does NOT enforce this at all. We were on Divina Nov 2017 and saw all forms of dress including SHORTs, etc., in the MDR on formal night.

We personally do dress up and really miss the Formal evenings. Most of the cruise lines are doing away with Formal nights. We have seen the changes over the years. This year we cruised on Celebrity, MSC, NCL, Princess and RCI. Even suits or jackets and ties, and long gowns are getting to be things of the past. Each passenger dresses as they like as long as they were clothes. Not a NAKED cruise. LOL

However, cruising is still one of the great vacations and experiences. We enjoy each and every one of our cruises. Going back on the Divina Feb 2018.

  11. If you take a minute to think of what that extra space is needed for, I'd count myself lucky that I don't need it.

The quoted poster may be right, I am beginning to feel cheated with my YC Interior Suite, based on a Russian video of the larger YC Handicap Interior Suite!
  12. We were on the end in 15033. Was yours one of the square rooms that are slightly larger or at least a better configuration?

We didn't mind the walk to Le Muse. I liked to see what was going on everywhere and to see everyone ready for their evening. We also enjoyed the music throughout the ship. But the location is definitely odd by the pool. I'm sure it will be more convenient and has been better planned on Seaside. Can't wait to see TS and OP on Seaside!

just returned try for 15029 which was our room.\, or a room near it --why??

on 15 th floor same deck as top sail and also 2 doors away from a door leading to the guest elevators.

in addition near the elevator just for yacht members that go from 14- 18.

The walk to le muse is a pain , on the other side of the ship--clearly a planning error.

it took us many days to figure out the easiest and most direct way to get there

  13. Why not just buy your drinks individually? They haven't discontinued that. You're not being forced to purchase an all inclusive package. Drinks are very reasonably priced - moreso than many other lines - and if you're only drinking fewer than 18 in a week it won't be more than what? $25-50? For the difference in price instead of the vouchers? I understand it was a good program. But I don't understand how it's a make or break item to cruise with MSC or not.

  14. We were on 15 which is where Top Sail Lounge is located, but it's easily accessible from 15 or 16. One Pool is on 16. Most of YC is at the front of the ship and easy to navigate your way around. Le Muse, on the other hand, is all the way in the back. Your butler will escort you the first day (and every day if you'd like). The easiest way is to go to 7 and pass through lounges and the atrium then take the elevators up to 15 and Le Muse. We would either take a drink with us from TS and stop in the Atrium or lounge to listen to live music for a few minutes, or get a drink on our way. Seaside has totally changed the configuration and everything for YC is forward over a few decks. Happy Sailing!

  15. I've been disconnected from chat twice when they didn't have an answer for me. It's annoying.

Today I went to book some beer and drink vouchers online for our March 2018 Seaside cruise. I didn't see them there so I chatted with the person online. They told me they are cancelled. I tried asking what the alternatives would be and that I was not happy since they were available when I booked. They just ended the chat. When I tried chatting again the person just disconnected me.

Has anyone had this type of service or do you think it was an IT problem?

Also what will be good alternatives? Those packages seemed very reasonable.

  16. Lol, no photos here either, but I did bring some home and keep them by my bed!

As far as the animals, I heard they ruin the towels so they don't do them as a rule. There was actually a towel animal demonstration in the atrium one evening that looked entertaining. In two sailings with MSC we've never had one. We're sailing with the kids next month and for their first cruise, I do think it would be fun if we came back to our suite to find a little friend in the room one night.

Nice one, Darcy! I didn't have any photos of the chocs.
