  1. We leave Aug 28 on the northbound Millenium cruise. I'm not looking forward to the flight home to Houston from Anchorage, but this itinerary I think is the best. This will be our second inside passage and we can't wait. A really nice perk for us is the train ride from Seward to Anchorage; heard great things about the trip.

Out first cruise did Glacier Bay and this one does Hubbard, so I'll get to compare. However Icy Strait Point will be new and looking forward to that.

  2. I agree about the Chef. We just got off the Equinox and their head chef is Indian. There were several dishes in the Buffet that were curry based which I don't care for at all, but there were also lots of other dishes to choose from and I certainly never went hungry. I will say the waffles and pancakes were some of the best I've had at sea. Two years ago we sailed the Constellation and every meal we ate in the MDR was outstanding. This cruise I found the dining room to be hit or miss. Some nights it was great and others not so great. It sure wouldn't make me change cruise lines as I believe Celebrity is better than most.

  3. Cafe el Bacio is our favorite spot on any X ship. Just got off the Equinox and I miss those mochas and lattes not to mention the alcoholic ones. Sure they can really get busy, but the wait is never long and we always had excellent service. In fact we tipped our favorite server at the end of the cruise because she took such good care of us.

  4. We are mid 60s and our first river cruise was on Viking. Mostly everyone was our age or older and retired. We are very active as you need to be but ocean cruising is by far still our favorite, but river cruises will take you places the ocean liners can't go. We're heading to China in March for a trip down the Yangtze.

  5. We were on the same cruise and also thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The Equinox is a beautiful ship and everywhere we went we had excellent service. I will say we had select dining and we did not make any reservations but went every night around 7 and were seated immediately. There was never any commotion or hustle and bustle among the waiters or assistants. For us it was a very calm enjoyable experience. We had the same table and waiter every night. We chose not to do formal and ate both nights in the buffet which was just okay. Next time DH will bring a jacket because I think we missed the best food on those two nights. We were a party of four so getting a table was probably easier. I think all of the Cruise Lines should rethink their tables for two!

We also booked another cruise while on board.

  6. Our first cruise with X was only 2 years ago to the Baltics on the Constellation. After many cruises on RCI and Princess, we thought Celebrity was hands down much better for food, service and even entertainment. Fast forward two years we just got off the Equinox and while the food was good it was not the quality of the Connie. We sail to Alaska in August on the Millenium and I'll be curious to see how it compares. I will say this, I think Celebrity offers a great product and while to others the food may not be as good as in the past, it still beats most of the other cruise lines out there. After the Connie we sailed with Oceania, and while their service is incredible, I was not that impressed with their food and did not like their MDR at all. We ate there twice on a 14 day cruise. Their specialty restaurants are included in your cost but because there is no charge the quality compares to Celebrity or RCI.

  7. Our first cruise with Celebrity was on the Connie and we fell in love with Celebrity on her. We just got off the Equinox and sail on the Millie in 2 months, but the Connie so far is still our favorite. We booked another cruise on her for Sept 2016. BTW we sailed on her right after a cruise on the Allure. As you know that ship is amazing and I had lots of worries we'd be disappointed in a small old ship but I worried needlessly. The Connie was wonderful. Enjoy!

  8. We just got off the Equinox however we boarded in Rome around 11:30 and were overnight in Istanbul. I'm pretty sure after you check in and get your pic taken for your sea card you will be able to get back off and tour the city. Have fun but be prepared for lots of people. Istanbul is a city of 16 million.

  9. We too sailed on the CB and if you liked that size ship I think you will like the S class ships better than the M class. The Buffet has its own bar and it's very easy to get a drink there. I had a soda or wine everyday at lunch with no wait. But I do understand about itineraries. We are in our mid 60s and time and itinerary are very important to us as we want to do our foreign travel while our health is good and we are in good physical shape. The CD on the Equinox bid us farewell our last night with these words: "I wish you good health because if you have that you have everything". How right he is!

  10. We did the Baltics 2 years ago on the Constellation and it was a great trip. We used SPB tours in Berlin and St. Petersburg but fortunately we had no problems with pick pockets or petition girls. They did take really good care of us. We just got off the Equinox from Rome to Barcelona and the beds could not have been more comfortable. I felt like I was sleeping in my own bed. It's amazing how ship comparisons are so different. We love Celebrity though and it is now our cruise line of choice.

  11. Thank you Caribill and to all others who calmed my concerns about the food. I love Chinese food and can eat it all the time, but it probably is more Cantonese style than true Chinese. However, after reading all these posts, I'm sure I won't go hungry and will be able to find something to eat. It won't be chicken feet for me though my husband probably will give them a try. He eats anything at least once.

Thanks everyone for sharing your helpful comments.

  12. Thanks for your review. We sail on the Millie August 28 from Vancouver to Seward and really looking forward to it. We just got off the Equinox last week and we had a fabulous time. She is a S class ship and the Oceanview is much larger and easier to navigate than the smaller ships. However we sailed on the Constellation 2 years ago and absolutely loved everything about that ship so much that we booked another cruise on her next Sept. 2016. We love Celebrity's entertainment as well.

  13. We just got off the Equinox earlier this week from a Mediterranean

Cruise sailing from Rome to Barcelona. It's amazing how a different itinerary can change a ship. We had chocolates on our pillows every night, and the entertainment was outstanding. Paul Baya and one of the female singers did a duet during one of the shows and he has a fabulous voice. I was surprised.

We loved our cruise, the service was the best.
