Wonder if they sell those door wedges at WalMart.  Have to check it out.

I was going to suggest bringing one along once I saw the above post about not being able to borrow one on some ships.  If you have a choice, buy a heavy duty door stop.  I can understand the concern onboard for safety by crew.  We wedged the cabin door open only as long as necessary. Quick in and out worked for our family.

  2. The staff in the MDR will park the scooter out of the way once you are settle at your table and retrieve it whenever you are ready to leave.  Put the key on a key chain/wristlet and ask for the key to be brought back to you.  The staff once gave my FIL's scooter to a lady and freaked out a little when they realized their mistake.  Took about 10 minutes to get that straighten out.....not like she could have gotten very far during that sea day.... 😁

Go check out the theatre when there is nothing going on.  You will then know what floor to enter on and where the seats are that will best work for you and your friend.

Your comment about not noticing scooters on your previous cruises means that the staff are pros at hiding them in plain sight.

Please don't fret too much about issues with catching an elevator.  There are plenty of guests willing to help scooter users get a ride.  My husband and I blocked a crowd from an empty elevator on the Anthem to allow 2 scooters to finally get on.  We also fell on the sword and rode with them to push the buttons for them.  Tee hee

Best advice is to head to your next venue early to miss most of the crowds and have ample time to get settled, then wait a few minutes after a show to allow most of the crowd to disperse.

    Happy cruising!

I hope this is being treated as a port day and they can enjoy the  city.

In my experience, guests are not allowed off the ship.  Depending on the reason for such a delay, conditions can change at a moment's notice and the captain has to be able to move the ship as s/he sees fit.

Don't say that!!   We are coming a long way just to see those leaves!!!!

I'm checking the foliage forecast on a daily basis now...!

You might get color changes in late September as you head north.  I will have a chat with Mother Nature and see if we can work some magic for you.  😀

We're thinking about booking the Adventure for the September 24th for a Fall season cruise out of Bayonne, NJ.  Typically speaking, would the fall foilage to be full effect by this time frame?

Best bet for leaf peeping in New England is to book for October, but as Biker said, we can't really tell peak season till it is almost upon us.  All weather dependent - sometimes early, sometimes late.

  6. I think sweatshirts and/or wind breakers would be fine.  As Fred said, you can pick up cheap ponchos when you get to this coast just in case of rain.  I would not buy any "special" clothing just for the trip unless you were already in the market.

I travel with the freebie ponchos you get when visiting Niagra Falls.  We still have them so they also keep storms away.  🤣

  7. If you are going on the NE/Canada cruise, my short answer is plan on wearing layers.  I agree with others that a couple of quick loads of layering pieces will have you all set between land and cruise.

Longer answer is to use the 10 day forecast at weather.com for a few places you will be visiting before your final pack.  Weather in New England can change dramatically from day to day at this time of year, but the 10 day outlook will give you a nice trend.

Depending on where you are from, you might still be cold here even if you put on every piece of clothing you bring.  Many natives will be in shorts till late October and may not wear a coat till November.  That is just how we roll.

Enjoy the cruise - you might be seeing some great foliage color the further north you go.

I emailed them and received this response:

It is my pleasure to assist you with your question on your RoyalUp bid.

At this time, the sailing is under reviewed, and changes to bids cannot be made.

This could also be interpreted as all the bids currently in the system are being reviewed....so it is possible that new/modified bids will be allowed again in a day or so....or not.  Maybe some bids will be accepted a bit early to allow for more of those guarantees to be sold.

.... We were supposed to return to Anchorage from Denali by train, but were told there was a rock slide on the tracks. We returned by bus.....  I am not even convinced the story we were given was even true.

Did you pay extra to return by train or was that part of the transportation during the land tour?

A quick Google search shows that Alaska received an unusual amount of rain in July causing officials to close roads and tracks in the area for rock slides or for visitors safety due to potential rock/land slides.

Thanks for your great reviews.   I have booked day beds for Anthem Dec. 28  cruise and still completely confused about  them.  Do you know if they are preassigned or first come, fist served?

In my recent experiences and discussions with others, daybeds (bungalows & cabanas as well) are assigned by Royal based on the dates that are reserved in the cruise planner......ymmv

Do other slots open for the skydive experience during the cruise?  We have only been able to book for one.

I am not sure if "book for one" means you have only been able to book one person in a time slot or book your entire party one time.

If it is the former - there are slots that are available to book when you first step aboard - but they go fast.  Make it a priority to book as soon as you board.

If it is the latter, it is unlikely that you will be able to experience iFly more than once during your cruise.  If there are any no-shows, the staff will give preference to those that have not had a turn yet - especially children.

The only exception I have ever seen on Anthem is those who have purchased the Key - it is possible to book a session in a "regular" time slot and then go again during the special "Key" time.  IIRC, the Key time is usually during a port day.

what is this medical fridge some of you are speaking about? Is it in place of the one in your room? Unless one has a larger room, where would it be placed?

Room fridges are not standard in all cabins on all ships.  Here is an example of a medical fridge we got while on Rhapsody one time.  It sits on the vanity.  The second time we were on Rhapsody we received a mini fridge that was placed under the vanity.

We have a cruise booked for Aug 2020.  Any idea when I will be able to book My Time Dining.  I have tried recently on Cruise Planner and it does not give me any option for My Time Dining!

A cruise that far out might not have any/all dining options available to select for a while.  Do you see anything under the Dining tab in the planner?  If not, check back in in a few weeks.
