I would try the Mayan Mule.
Ingredients:
2 parts Milagro Reposado Tequila
0.5 parts Lime Juice
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
3 parts Ginger Beer
Mint Sprigs and Lime Wheel, for garnish
I wonder how they are going to make it though, because the ships only have ginger ale and not ginger beer. It probably won't taste right, just like the Moscow Mules that they make with ginger ale don't have the same taste as the ones made with ginger beer.
When I was on the Regal last year they did have ginger beer but you had to ask some of the bartenders to take a second look. It's easier for them to use ginger ale from the gun but they have the real deal. I watched them make it when I was on a Moscow Mule kick.

Don't get caught up in your perks, the bottom line should be what is the cruise costing exactly at the end. If the price on a sale is worth giving up the pre paid gratuities and your final cost is lower it's worth giving up the tips for a price that's lower than pre paid tips and the price of the cruise.
I saw a couple get so caught up on the fact that they had the AI beverage package they wouldn't look at a price drop that was worth them giving up the beverage package for the better price then purchasing the beverage package when onboard. I look at each sale independently and figure out which deal works best for our bottom line.

I agree about picking up a Subway sandwich to bring on the tour. DH and I split one and some chips. The box lunch was nothing that either of us cared for and he watches his sodium and everything was very salty. We had a group and they were all thankful I had given them the suggestion to bring a sandwich.

If you really desire a lot of coffee how about bringing a couple of big thermal mugs and then you can take them back to your room. I have never seen anyone take away a pot of coffee from the IC. Not saying you couldn't, just haven't seen it done. I bring along a large Yeti, have it filled with coffee and have them add an espresso shot.

I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the offer!

I know the Regal does not have the new bedding yet but our bed was pretty comfortable aboard the Regal last week so I took a look under the sheet to see what type of mattress it was. It was "layered" up. There was a mattress with an egg crate or something similar topped with a padded mattress topper strapped over the foam and mattress. The topper was in a zippered cover for laundering purposes I suppose but it was very comfy.

Yes, someone needs to close this thread. It's been well established that this coincided with recent (then) severe flooding in that area. Port days were even cancelled on various cruise lines (right before the flies :)) due to waist high water on the local streets.
Maybe it helps to know that the conditions change. There were many on the Regal who were afraid to get off the ship because of what happened a few weeks ago. Hopefully others will read it'snot like this all the time and will get off. Leaving the thread as it stands with the flies only encourages the wrong information. Hopefully my comment will assure someone else to get off the ship as conditions change.

Thanks to the OP and the video. We will be calling on the DR in March. Hopefully we will not have the fly infestation to deal with then.
I think it is all dependent on weather conditions. The word around the ship before we arrived was about the fly infestation. Many people were afraid to get off the ship. We went and had a very nice day in the port by the pool. It's a shame others let something that happened weeks ago interfere with what they could of easily walked off and found out for themselves so they missed a port day. To each his own but as I told my husband, if we found it to be undesirable we would turn around and get back on the ship.

Enjoying every post!
Please let me know if you see any signs of Christmas decorating. I know they will most likely have decorators board on Sunday I was just wondering if after the last bit of cranberry sauce is gone tonight they start doing some decorating. Interesting, wonder if they serve the turkey dinner again Saturday for Landfall night.

I have never paid $25 to take a taxi to hotels in the 17th Street area.
Taxi's to that area should only be around $10-$15. I believe when we take the cab all the way from the port to airport it's only around $15 and the hotels are along the way.

Must be something new. I'll see if they have it on the Regal.

I will be reading this thread anxiously! We board next Sunday!

Thanks for the info folks, I did not know that.
Will you provide an entertainer "scouting report" after you debark? :)
Yes, I will!

I usually book right away when they release new schedules as I like certain rooms and want to secure them right away. I then watch for promotions along the way and check pricing against the promotion and see what is the best deal. I have always saved money somewhere along the way!

Upgrades and upsells are two different things.
I mark my booking meta upgrade only and have received upsell offers on the last 3 cruises including our upcoming. I also have others that mark no upgrade and they receive the offers sometimes. The upsell fairy is fickle too.
When we were on the land portion of Alaska I got a call from the office that we were offered an upsell at the last minute but the price was way more than I would of ever paid. I asked if there were others with the same offer, it was extended to 2 others cabins in the group and we had 8 cabins in a row. All booked with the same agency and some of the cabins had the same loyalty levels. Some where offered, some were not. No rhyme or reason.

Budget is very easy. We have rented cars at the airport then on the day we sail I return the car to their Quay location. They have a free shuttle to the ship. You can also do this in reverse if you want one post cruise, have the shuttle pick you up at the ship and take you to the Quay location to rent.
To make everything even easier, I go to the ship first, drop off luggage with the porters and then go to the Quay location and just have to hop on the shuttle with my carry on to go back to the ship. The Quay location is right outside the port, across the parking lot from the Renaissance.

Did you see my question on post #53 about Crab Shack and the menu on the St Thomas night?
-
I'm sorry to hear that about the flies.
Are they offering Crab Shack any nights and could you please tell me the theme night for dining for the night in St Thomas.
Thank you!

Thanks for taking time to share the information of your cruise. I will be on soon and live these Threads!

I was wondering if anyone knows if the serve a Moscow Mule on the Regal in a copper cup? Also, is it under the price point for the AIBP?
Limited to one entrée only in fixed dining room- how did I miss this rule?

I was thinking that very thing when I read your comment! :D
One time it was explained to me they had to take the whole plate of food, not just one of something served. I often want to try something, such as the protein, but I don't want to waste the other food so I don't order something I want to try. I also like to get the fettuccine some nights with something simple like grilled shrimp or grilled chicken. It's been hit or miss over the years.
