1. DD and SIL are wanting to rent scooters or motorbikes while in Kauai for the day, and we are wondering if there are rental places near the pier, and what are good places to go touring on them? 1st time to the Island.

Thank you so much! ( sorry, normally I would try to use the search feature but it is still disabled)

2. Check the itinerary for these two options very carefully!

I am booked on the Grand departing SF April 28th since the Star's departure date wasn't an option for me with work. As I was planning my excursions I found out the Polynesian Cultural Centre in Honolulu is closed on Sundays... the day we're there.

So before booking, if it matters to you, check very carefully everything you'd like to do and choose a ship based off of that.

Nodales, you are welcome to come check out our roll call for the April 28th cruise on the Grand :)

3. They ran out of ukes for students. They have about 40 or so soprano ukes that are loaned out and you have to give them back after the class. There is a uke for sale in the ship store about $120. Can't remember exactly. Came with a case and tuner. Kimo has a list of stores in each port that sells ukes if you want one made in HI. Be prepared to pay $600+ for a good custom uke in the islands.

Thank you so much! I am not even sure if there will be ukelele lessons at all on our cruise, as the couple that is currently on will be switching to a Japan itinerary before April :(

4. Presently on Grand. Only 2 more days. We played Pearly Shells, Tiny Bubbles and Aloha oe. Kimo and Lokelina do a great job.

Thank you for posting! Was there enough ukeleles for people, and do they sell them onboard ? Thinking I would like to pick one up onboard if they are not too expensive.:)

5. Yes I am One of Those, in fact I called Princess last week to make sure that there WAS going to be a director on board, had the answer been NO, I would have found a legitimate reason to cancel my cruise. 19 days without a form of ACBL Bridge would be a no go, so this may be my last cruise with Princess.

Oh John, I remember how important the bridge was to you, although I have never learned ( I am sure I would drive experienced players mad :D ) it seemed like it was a real highlight for many.

6. You should receive confirmation but no matter what, I always bring confirmation for every OBC or other request. I don't leave anything to chance and make sure I have my documentation handy. I've had OBC not applied too many times to trust even a confirmation. :(

Thank you everyone!!! :)

7. Secretcastle-- I did some back checking. In April 2013 on Golden Princess out of L.A., doing the then "14 Days Hawaiian Cruise". The Hawaiian Duo "Elua", was transfer to the Sun Princess before completing the the final Hawaiian April 24 cruise from L.A. Princess needed them to start the Inaugural Japanese Sailing season in Tokyo. The first cruise out of Kobe, Japan this year is on April 29th. Same thing is happening to Makani 'E.

I just had an email today from Princess Customer Relations, and they said that they will be putting another duo onboard when Makani E disembarks :)

Mary - Hope to see you on the Roll Call for the April 28th cruise :D

8. secretcastle-- You are RIGHT! Check the Princess Cruise Atlas and it shows the Sun Princess starts it's Japan Cruise schedule on April 29 out of Kobe, Japan.

We are hoping they will have some kind of Hawaiian program for us, doesn't seem right to just cut off the program before the season ends :(

9. I tried Google and I get Fairwinds, Jim and Rozz. Not able to get the folks you are talking about here. I am cruising to Hawaii+more later this year and wonder if they will be aboard on our portion to Hawaii. Have the proper link anyone?

That is the website for them, they just go by a different name on Princess. I emailed them, and they answered that they will be switching out to the Japan run before the Spring 2014 season is over.

10. Secret castle. I just got off Makani E's web site and it still show their 2014 schedule. On board Grand Princess from January to May and then May to July on Sun Princess. They may not have up dated their web site. So sorry to hear they will not be on board in April.

Thank you for looking into it- I did see that as well, but they had emailed me to say they were not doing the whole spring season in the grand and did not know what plan Princess has for the rest of the Spring Hawaii cruises :(

I talked with them many times and I believe they will be on your cruise. You can contact them at rozlowry@hotmail.com and they will respond. A great group and very personable. They have a great hula and ukulele classes plus a performance of both groups. Please post what you find out for others.

Thank you Tom! You are so thoughtful to take the time to answer our questions, and I am so glad you had a great cruise. I will definitely contact them to see if we can look forward to their Hawaiian program.
Julia :)
