  1. I cancelled on Tuesday.  My CN certs were recredited to the account, but I don't see a FCC.  Also haven't seen a credit on the card for the things I cancelled before canceling the cruise.  I know they said it would be 7-10 days, but I'm curious if anyone has been credited yet.  Does anyone know if the taxes/port charges will be refunded or added to the FCC?

  2. This does not affect the FAS.  It is an additional OBC.  It is not in lieu of the other perks offered when booking.  On my recently cancelled cruise I got all of the FAS perks as well as doubling up on the CNs.

well i have read that China has only 2 cases left they have managed to contain it, obviously through authoritarian means and that will never happen here...

I'm having a hard time believing that China only has 2 cases left.  Sounds like fake news (or propaganda) to me.

I can't believe (ok, I really can) that they actually think banning travel on cruise ships will stop the spread of coronavirus. Hello! It's spread by people, regardless of whether or not they are on a cruise ship.

The madness has to stop.  Nothing will stop the spread of this thing.  We will have to learn to live with it. The entire world economy is at stake here.  Unfortunately, the Cruise lines are a convenient scapegoat.  But such is the world we live in.  Sigh.

  5. I look at this as a positive thing.  I’m a banker.  No bank is going to lend this kind of money if they’re not reasonably sure they will get the money back.  Trust me, no bank wants to have to own the Epic or any other cruise ship.  They want to be repaid in cash.  If they weren’t convinced they would be, they would not have made the loan.  This loan is a good thing.

I was thinking the same thing! Would love to know if anyone has successfully done this - cancelled and rebooked at lower rate for same cruise?

I'm thinking the same thing.  No one will be able to answer this question until at least the tenth, but it would sure help a lot of people.  The price of my TA in April is now about 1/3 of what I paid.  Would love to simply cancel and rebook the same cruise at the lower rate and bank the difference as FCC.  As it stands now it looks like it’s doable, but why do I suspect they will change the rules to not allow you to do this?

Just one more thing you comment on, but know nothing about.  "Both the brands use capsules for brewing which are sealed packed containers consisting of coffee grounds in the variety of flavors." 🤥

Yes, they are real coffee.  And very good, if you get the right brands.  I work from home and spend the day going from my office to the kitchen to hit that wonderful little button on the Nespresso machine.  :)  I was dreading not having it on the ship.  But it sounds like the Senseo pods will work.

Question:  Do the Senseo's get stale?  The Nespresso pods are in plastic so they stay pretty fresh.  I'm thinking I should wait a while to buy the Senseo's since I'm not leaving until April 18.

At least it is real coffee that is drip brewed. Nespresso (like k-cups) is just instant coffee in a pod.

Now this is where we differ.  I love my Nespresso.  It is real coffee, but it's espresso, not brewed coffee.  Nectar of the Gods.  LOL

My TA is in 7 weeks and we have two ports in Italy Florence and Rome. We are past final payment and the only thing I can wait for is for NCL to cancel the cruise. Changing ports would be highly unlikely since we are doing 4 Spain ports, 2 Portugal ports and a French one.

I’m on the same cruise.  I don’t have a real problem with changing the itinerary.  Changing the flight home from Rome would be the bigger challenge I suspect.  We’ll see what happens.

  10. I’m in the stay on the ship, have breakfast and depart a bit later camp.  I’m not sure I would try to arrange a pickup time if you’re staying in Manhattan.  There’s a taxi stand right across the street from the terminal. Getting where you need to be will be easy and reasonable, with no need to try to arrange in advance.  Just my two cents.

Most TA's leaving from the states are not until April, not March, those ships are making their way to Florida or NY from The Caribbean and South America. Tad early to sound the alarm bell!  Anyone on any of these TA's are well past final payment so not sure what options are open to them. I guess cruise lines could avoid Italy but some of the TA's end in Rome for the spring and summer cruises in the Med

I am on a TA leaving April 18 and ending in Rome.  As stated above, we are well past final payment.  Still confident that this will be under control by then.  If not, we'll just have to go with the flow.

  12. Is there a huge difference in the quality of the two options?  I'm doing a TA in mid-April.  I wasn't initially interested in upgrading the package, but started feeling guilty about work.  I need to be available for fire drills.  :(  Will the basic WiFi package be sufficient or should I go with the streaming option?

Seems like that liquor would be Auto charged to your account.

And that it was.  My son discovered he likes beer.  😃. Unfortunately you cannot get the drink package perk for them.  It would have been a whole lot cheaper.

  14. We actually started with NCL because of our then 18 year old son.  He wanted to be able to buy beer so he could get into the nightclubs.  NCL allows 18-20 year Oldsmobile buy beer and wine with a parent’s permission.  Turned out we really liked the ships, the entertainment, the specialty restaurants and the casual atmosphere.  I also agree about the solo cabins.  Last year I did two trips to Bermuda with friends. We really liked having our own cabins and the Studio Lounge.  Best coffee on the ship.  😃

  15. I'm doing a 15 nighter in April.  I went ahead and bought the stock at $51.50 two weeks ago.  Like others have said, I look at it as a tax free dividend.  We cruise a few times a year, so I think it's worth it.  While the stock my continue to drop a bit, it will not become worthless.  We are long term investors, and I'm an optimist.  I have confidence we won't lose on the investment.

  16. I'm also curious how exactly this works.  I went to book my April cruise with the travel agent and she told me I had a $475 certificate from NCL from the casino.  I didn't even know it was there, but logged into NCL and sure enough it was there.  It could only be used off of the cruise fare, which is fine with me.  I've played around a bit on NCL.com but can't see how many points I have.  Do you have to call CAS for that?  Also, could there be other goodies waiting for me that I don't know about?

  17. I LOVE the studios.  Did two cruises in one on the Escape last year and booked it for a 15 night TA in April.  The cabins are bright, cheery and have plenty of space for one person.  The studio lounge has the best (and free) coffee on the ship.  In my case, I travel with other women friends.  We like having our "own" space, and our own bathroom.  ::classic_biggrin:

I would not hesitate to book a studio.
