I'd say it's been agreed to, not settled... Because nothing is settled until the contract is signed.
Right, from what I understand, the workers have from now until January to vote on the wages and the rest will be decided later. It could surely go south if the dock workers vote down the wage increase and stick to 70%. But I don't think Bentley J Goldchain thought the strike would be so unpopular as it was. He needed a win.

Nothing has been settled, just delayed. This is just an extension until January, not a new contract.
I believe they settled for a 62% raise. But the other items will be addressed in January.

It’s really not overly complicated.
if Carnival started enforcing its rules and expelling passengers that break the rules in port, things would change.
You would hear all the crying on Cruise Critic and Facebook.
The bottom line is these folks spend allot of money and it’s all about $$
Ah no, the trash that have been having fights are NOT spending any money. Why do you think they are on Carnival.
Instead, Carnival wants to blame the drink package and come out with some press release that says they are coming down on drinkers. Yeah, that will do it.
Just look at what OP said about the kids on board. Remember when CHristine Duffy did that whole song and dance about behaving on cruises? One of the items was children 17 and under needed to be escorted by adult or in their rooms. Surely seems like they are failing in that regard.
Funny, you take a higher price cruise from the likes of NCL and they offer UNLIMITED drinks and when was the last time you saw a video from a fight on NCL.
ETA - Even on my Firenze cruise earlier this year, the colorful guests right next to us, were smoking weed right there on their balcony. I took pictures and went right to guest services and showed them the pics. Security comes up and asks them to not smoke in their room while the pot smoke pours out of the room. They remained on the cruise for the entirety.

So...I gotta ask. What is the point in achieving that goal (getting to Platinum) if you aren't going to exercise the (rather meager) perks by switching lines? Just so she can say "I did it"?
Pretty much! I don't get it. We reach it this October then we have a December cruise. Our cruises next year are all on other lines.

But MSC attracts large groups of "not the most sophisticated" foreigners.
I'll gladly take a stuffy Frenchman or Guinness swilling Brit over the trash Carnival has been having on their ships lately.
My wife is dead-set on reaching Platinum this year. Which we will do in October. After that, I said we are switching to other lines.
Thankfully RCL is bringing another ship to San Pedro. Wish NCL would offer a permanent ship.

We've sailed around the holidays for a number of cruises but this year will be our first that we are actually on the ship for Christmas. We're looking forward to it.
I love Christmas with the family but I will not miss buying and decorating a tree, buying groceries for Christmas dinner, cooking Christmas dinner, cleaning the house for guests, cleaning the house after guests.
We will miss our dog though. He loves pulling his treats and toys out of his stocking.

I think you can get a day pass to Margarita Ville for $50 for adults. Not sure on kids price.

We docked two hours late on Saturday. Cruise director stated it was due to high winds that made navigation difficult. But then we were delayed much longer than two hours for debarkation and I have no idea why. My family was off the ship around noon and there were MANY more people waiting to get off. We were traveling with birth certificates and the line through customs was much shorter for us. The customs line for passengers traveling with passports was so incredibly long. We easily saved an hour, maybe two hours, simply because we were in the birth certificate line.
There are three things guaranteed in life....death, taxes and Panorama will arrive at the dock late
Thanks for the review! On any Carnival ship, we generally always stay in the aft.
Sadly on Firenze, the main lido is a bust so Carnival now has DJs and music in aft making even the back of the ship unbearable.

I know it sounds probably ridiculous but I would post that picture to John Heald's facebook page.
There is NO denying that that is a bad mold problem and the fact that GS gave you the runaround for so long is deplorable.

Thank you so much. We will do this too. We’ll have two little kids with us, so we’ll just have to pack wisely I guess. Carnival has really dropped the ball with this parking situation!
Agreed. We will not sail Pano again as long as parking is directed offsite.
Pre-covid, Carnival was set to build another parking garage onsite but I guess that is on-hold indefinitely. Lots of wasted land there with that dilapidated shopping area and parking lots that look to be just construction material storage.
I would have thought the Port of Long Beach would have made something happen by now.

Gotta love CC, people moan and groan when they do not get new builds. People moan and groan when they do order new builds. Never gets boring here.
Meh, wife and I would still be sailing Inspiration and Imagination every month if they were both still in Long Beach.

Did we do this one yet? Says she did not post any information on the internet.
Said some called her asking if she wanted an upgrade. Then she gave them money. Then cruise was cancelled.

Sorry, I can't help you there. We were/are flying in to LAX from LAS for both cruises, and are using Carnival's ground transportation services to get to/from the port. It's a very nice comfortable bus.
@Mike45LC
Yes, Firenze guests get to use the parking garage.

Looks like OP and others will be happy. But not the cruise lines making the change, it's the government.

Did you like the Firenze? It looks really nice on the YouTube ship tours I have seen.
It has pro's and con's. The deal breaker for me and why we will probably NOT sale on it again is for the following reasons....
1. The retractable roof is dumb. For just about the entire cruise it was closed making the main pool area very warm to the point of being miserable. The side areas (on 11) have nice seating but it's entirely closed in and there is zero air circulation. (Staff kept saying it was too windy to open roof up.
2. This ship should not have been assigned to CA. Small pool area pushes everyone to the back (aft)
3. The aft, while similar to Pano....Carnival now views it as necessary to have DJ music out there. The speakers are about a foot above your head and WAAAAAYYYY too loud to be enjoyable. You can't even hold a conversation.
4. Bars way to crowded.
5. Carnival clientele. Speakers on pool deck, the group next to us smoking weed on balcony.
6. Tried Serenity and while it's nice, there is NO breeze and hardly any shade. Got very hot even at sea. Worse during port.
On the positive...
1. Great that the chicken place is open for bfast and lunch.
2. We thought the buffet was good. MDR was excellent.
3. Service, excellent.
4. Il Vaggio excellent.
5. Good new bars
Since we are in San Diego, we really just cruise out of LB for quick getaways about once a month. We generally like Radiance. Since we cruise this itinerary so much, we always stay on the ship at port. We just want to relax. Turing the aft pool area into the new lido party area was frustrating for us. And the main pool area was a joke of heat, not many chairs and no breeze.
If you're the type that likes to chill in your room or inside doing activities, you will probably be fine.

Whoops, double post.

We just ate at Il Viaggio last week. It was by far our favorite meal on the ship. I actually felt ill when we left there because I was so full. The portions are large, and the service was impeccable. I liked it so much better than Cucina.
I can echo this sentiment. Il Viaggio was excellent on Firenze. I can generally eat everything you put in front of me but I could not finish my dish. Of course I needed to save room for desert. The gelato cake was amazing but the tiramisu was....a bummer.
*Pro tip, don't fill up on the amazing bread.

Was on the week after the inagural, week of May 6th, and we got on fairly quickly. I think it was a little after 11am.
-
We didn't check it out but I believe the MDR is not open.
As far as I can remember though, most of your fast casual places are open, chicken shack, pizza, Guys, deli, La Strada grill and Tomodoro's (new Mexican food place with Italian stuff mixed in).
We did not eat at La Strada.

Look into negligence laws.
"As businesses are more and more getting hit with cybersecurity attacks, plaintiffs often sue under a plethora of claims seeking to recover damages and for various equitable relief. There exist many defenses to each of these theories, but this article focuses on the common law cause of action of negligence for an entity’s alleged failure to maintain adequate cybersecurity protections."
I would imagine there are tons of loopholes.
I belong to San Diego's largest credit union, they do not even offer MFA\2FA for their web banking. Doubt I would be successful in any suit against them.
-
It would not be hard for Carnival to implement any form of multi factor authentication for their website. When dealing with purchases of potentially thousands of dollars, I would welcome that change.
But doing some googling this morning, it would seem that there are a great number of laws on the books that punish the "do-er" of computer fraud but I can't find anything that holds the company liable.

woman brings gun on Carnival
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Depends if the Carnival designates the ships "Gun free zones".
Not only that, when transporting firearms, they need to be in a locked case (and unloaded). Suitcase does not count as locked case.
