Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Laurieal, so good to meet you and am enjoying your reviews. I am fortunate to have followed Fiona’s sparkling review and then yours, as you both provided wonderful pictures and commentary. Perry performed for us late on our cruise, September 11-23 in the 270 Lounge. He tripped and fell on the stage during his show; we weren’t sure if it was part of his act at first. He was really sore, but professional that he is, he continued and finished the show in great pain. Hope he is feeling better. I see that he is doing his matinee in the theatre and not 270.
  2. Fiona, thanks for the review. Glad to hear that DH is on the mend. Have to agree with much of what you had to say. Yep, 270 presented its own difficulties about where to sit and see. The Esplanade was crowded on deck 4 often, so we used deck 5 as an expressway to get from one end to the other. Certainly loved the tropical vibe and set up of the solarium. As we are Canadians and had not travelled to this part of the world before, we loved the itinerary and enjoyed most of the excursions, since there was so much to see and experience. Bumper cars were a hoot! For sure, we will do this itinerary again in the future and we would sail Anthem again. I wonder if you might comment on Covid on the ship. We started feeling badly towards the end of our cruise and tested positive 2 days after we got home. Deck 3 on our cruise was full of sick people, as well. Thanks again!
  3. May I echo all the kudos sent your way, Fiona. Your detailed reviews and pictures allowed me to "spend" an extra 12 days on Anthem. So thank you and go well in your endeavors.
  4. Yes, lobster night was on day 10, a sea day, for us too. Our waiters brought out an extra tail each for our party and cut the meat out of the shell for us! The head waiter then brought us a third tail. It was such an excellent meal and we were so well treated in American Icon.
  5. Fiona, we were on Anthem on Sept. 11-23. Your reporting is spot on and it has brought back some very nice memories for us. Love the pictures and the cruise compass reprints. Keep up the great work and enjoy the rest of the cruise.
  6. We sailed on Anthem on September 11. The Gift was presented. Hard to get the plot but excellent production values, singing and dancing. My wife had tears in her eyes at the end of the show. The lead actress in the show was outstanding throughout the cruise and in several different shows (she will play the villain in We Will Rock You)
  7. Loved the Solarium for breakfast and lunch. Quiet and much more civilized than WJ. Problem with the Solarium was that it opened late some mornings (or not at all) when we had to leave at 8:45 for an excursion. Many of the same basic items you can find in the WJ to eat. Cafe 270 was rarely busy for breakfast (unless there was an activity in the next door 270 lounge). Had cold cereal, oatmeal, breakfast sandwiches made to order similar to Egg McMuffins or panini, fruit, bagels toasted for you and spreads put on for you, regular hot beverages and specialty coffees. You could eat your meal on some long communal tables outside of 270 or inside the 270 lounge. Sink to wash your hands outside of the solarium upon entry but nothing outside the 270.
