By that do you think they mean that pop from the guns at bars?  Or is there some other dispensing option?

This device is actually called a fountain.

This just continues Princess' race for the bottom.

Thank you, but I called on Monday to find out my options and she told me that the mattress was definitely lost and they could ship me another one, bumping someone else's order down the list and it would take another 3 weeks or I could get a refund. I requested a refund.

At least the delivery guy should be sleeping comfortably...

And yes, it is a breach of contract because the local shipping company has 48 hours to arrange delivery once they get it and no one ever contacted me. I had to initiate all correspondence.

Also, one does not have to be paranoid to worry that some past passenger may have purposely contaminated the contents of a dispenser unit for soap, lotion, or any other product.

When princess still had the little bottles ... I once used some shower gel.

It was the wrong consistency, it had clearly been adulterated...

I don't think it was nefarious, I think someone added water to use the entire contents of the bottle.

But, there was no indication that it wasn't new, so who knows...

I was recently in a sandwich shop on land...

They had a bin with plastic tableware.

I took a fork.   It was encrusted with rice.  Someone had obviously used the fork

and put it back in the 'new' bin.

We recently had dinner in the Crown grill (CB). We enjoyed the specialty sea salts. I was able to take pictures of two of the three containers.

Artisan Salt Co.  1. Hiwi Kai (black lava sea salt)  2. Yakima (Applewood Smoked sea salt) 3. Can some one provide me the name? I think the jar has a pink label?

We would like to give these as Christmas gifts to some of our friends. I did go their web site but they changed the packaging and labels.

    Appreciate your help. Thanks

I just don’t get how that is trying to one-up anyone. It’s nice to see where people have been, & share experiences, & helps in making new friends.

Based on the asking person's demeanor:

"I've been on sixty cruises and am very important; how few have you been on?"

    ...kind of thing.

I don't think it's at all unusual to encounter the self-important on cruises.

And, of course, it is also normal shipboard conversation as well.

What was your favorite cruise, etc.

We always get tables for 2.

I don't think this is everyone's experience ... during prime time ... at least not without waiting/getting a pager...

Plenty of complaints here, from time-to-time.

    But, good for you.

IMHO you dine with other people if you want to interact with them.

I recall speaking with the maitre d' on carribbean on a cruise...

He said there was a waiting list of 50 couples for two-tops.

Those folks were forced to larger tables, and clearly had no interest in inacting.

I have met some nice people on cruises ... even booked future cruises to cruise with some

    again.

But, I have also been seated with some duds.

One granny would say: "My son is a doctor, and he paid for this cruise..."

Multiple times per night, every night.  (And then she would take all the breadsticks)

I have also had quite a few folks offer me their political opinions.

And, as everyone knows there are two types of people who discuss politics...

People who agree with me, and idiots.  🙂

One delightful couple recounted a previous cruise where a waiter had jumped overboard

trying to kill himself.   The delightful folks were annoyed that the ship had to spend time

searching, which made them late for the next port.

I would prefer if some of these duds were using their phones, so I don't have to listen to them...

Now, I just get two tops.  Only poor Mrs. Pablo has to listen to me.

Sooo, embarked today. As far as the Chromecast, was able to connect it to the tv and change the input. My issue has come with the wireless router. For some reason it's not connecting to the medallion net. And you need a router/hotspot to get the Chromecast to work in hotels and places with password protected logins.  I think because there's no password, that may be of issue. Hopefully it's something that I can solve. I've seen others mention they got their router to work. I'm curious how...

What is the make / model of your router?

    I have 2 file hubs / routers.

The first can make a wifi network and share files.

It is limited to connecting to a network with a password.

I have a newer model that can connect to wifi that require both a password, and a login.

For instance, a hotel -- where you need a password to connect to the wifi, and then

you have to fill in a login screen with room number, lastname, and perhaps package you wish to purchase.

Yes, all the TVs have HDMI input ports.  Pretty hard to find a TY these days that doesn't have them, no matter how cheap they might be.

I think the important part of the posters question was whether they can connect their dvd player to the tv,

not whether most tvs are manufactured with hdmi inputs.

The cabin might not have a remote which will allow any 'other' inputs to be selected.

The tv might be locked in hospitality mode, disallowing any remote from changing the input selection.

The tv might be wall mounted in such a way that it is not possible to access the physical inputs.

Here is a description of what one poster had to go through on carribbean:

    https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2576428-connecting-your-hdmi-device-to-the-new-oceanview-tvs-on-caribbean-princess/

But, I do agree with you, most TVs are manufactured with hdmi inputs.

I didn’t write that but it is my photo.  Why would someone need to access that?

There are frequent questions here about accessing the TV jacks, hdmi, etc.

People might want to do this to play a movie from their dvd player/phone/tablet/laptop, etc

or use a streaming device like a roku, chromecast, etc.

or display the pictures from their camera or phone.

In the cabin configuration shown in your picture it is super hard to access the tv inputs.

The picture is excellent at showing this.

Also, from reading the replies, some things are acceptable -- checking a schedule...

If someone across the table from me is using their phone, how do I determine if

what they are doing is an acceptable behavious?

yes, included in charge, always has been, that is why they charged $5 in beginning when started this special dine stuff. which is outrageous  to begin with

To the best of my recollection, the upcharge started with the Painted Desert on Grand Princess, when it entered service in 1997.

    That's 21 years ago.

When if gets to 25, I think you can assume it is here to stay, and stop worrying whether it's outrageous or not...

I've been assigned an inside cabin that can hold four people on my upcoming cruise on the Caribbean Princess. I'm assuming the upper berths jut out from the wall like the cabin we had this month on the Crown Princess. Since I'm sailing solo, will it be possible for the cabin steward to make the beds together against one wall? That would give me more room to get out of bed without hitting my shoulder against the upper berth. (I've got a call into my travel agent to try to change to another available cabin that doesn't hold four, but thought I'd go ahead and ask here in case I can't change.)

On carribbean, whether the uppers are on the wall, or in the ceiling depends on the deck.

I'm sure the steward will make the bed up any way you wish.

I have read of people having one bed removed to accomodate a chair needed for a medical condition.

The upper berths on the wall look innocent enough, but they are always watching for an opportrunity to bop you on the head...

Here's a pix from behind the bed in a minisuite (L222) on the Royal earlier this year.

I think you must be wrong!!! 🙂

There are many posts in this thread saying the only outlets in a cabin are at the desk, and behind the TV.

Even though I have used the outlets you describe behind the bed many times, I must be wrong too!

It does make me wonder where the nightstand lights are plugged in...

(this may not be possible in full suites)

And, I certainly wouldn't bring something like this (from amazon) to plug into the outlet.

    61V6kCQ4L3L._AC_SL1387_.jpg

Just in case anyone else doesn't want to buy such an adapter, this is the link on amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A17I1VW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This lets you plug in the nightstand lamp, and a US-style plug.

Note that it doesn't change voltage, so anything you plug in needs to be rated for 220.
