I just received this email from Oceania regarding our cruise departing from Copenhagen on August 24:

Dear Valued Guests and Travel Advisors,

We have an important update to share with you about revisions to our embarkation testing policy. Effective August 1, 2022, Oceania Cruises will no longer require guests to produce a negative covid test to embark their cruise, subject to local regulations.

Please Note: Voyages embarking from Canada and Greece as well as those sailing to Bermuda, will still require a negative covid test at embarkation, until further notice.

The relaxing of this policy is in line with the greater travel industry around the globe as society continues to return to a post-pandemic state of normalcy. Testing is not required to fly or stay in a hotel or dine at a restaurant, and now, as a general rule, guests will no longer be required to test to board one of our ships.

With the advent of vaccinations and widely available therapeutics, travelers can and should travel with confidence and peace of mind. While this requirement is relaxed, Oceania Cruises continues to strongly urges all guests to test at their convenience prior to travel and intermittently during their travels.

Of course, should the unlikely need arise, this policy may be revisited and revised as necessary, and we will endeavor to keep you informed of any changes.

    Warmest regards,

    Carlos E. Ortega
    Vice President, Guest Services

We received the same email, this morning, regarding our cruise leaving Aug 18 from Barcelona.

FWIW, just received a message that requests for shareholder credit must be submitted within 15 days of sailing, as one has to be an NCL shareholder at the time of sailing.

I submitted my paperwork 60 days out and got the credit in 2 days.

Just posted this on a different thread but it is worth repeating……..

Guys, I own an AI company and I can tell you with 100% certainty that airlines track your flight searches on their websites as well as third party websites.  The algorithms will up the prices the more you look.  If you disappear for a while they may lower them again but no guarantee.  My son left my nuclear AI company to make piles of cash writing pesky consumer algorithms including those most pesky travel algorithms.

ALWAYS SEARCH IN PRIVATE MODE ON SAFARI OR INCOGNITO MODE ON GOOGLE.  (I know caps is being loud but it will save a ton of money so I am being loud about it)

Search a few third party websites (privately) and if they have lower fares than the airline website, choose the link directly to the airline to buy the tickets on the airline’s site.

It used to be that the airlines tracked their own traffic only but no more, now they all coordinate and share info.

Also, another United flier here.  Customer service is the number one reason.  That and I lived most of my life in the frigid weather near their Ohare hub before finally moving south.  Plus they have the best FF program in the business.  I never pay for flights and always fly business simply from using my United Chase cards.  If I go to the store and even buy a loaf of bread, it goes on my card.  It all adds up to free flights quickly.

Would using DuckDuckGo work the same?

I have O Air and premium economy for my October Marina Lisbon to Athens cruise.  I received my seat assignments for Chicago to Lisbon but unable to get seat assignments for the return.  Is that normal?

We ran into the same thing a few days ago.  I called O and the rep said it was because the return flight had not been ticketed yet.  That would be in another 5 days.  We would get another air itinerary by email when this happened.  Two more days to go, so we will see.

    Hi LHT28.

I asked the TA after I posted here.

The TA responded seconds ago saying I would have to pay the higher price, like $900 higher, to get the current promotion. That does not work obviously.

This seems ridiculous. I might as well just do the Cruise only fare and pay my own way, this is no advantage at all, especially in Cdn $ as you well know.

I guess being a booked guest means nothing.

it was $1000 pp higher for us to get the promotion.  No way.

The private car or mini bus tour option does not qualify for the 25% though from what we were told.

You are right.  The Executive Collection tours do not get the 25% reduction.

BTW: Trying to add two tours on the same day can get a “ conflict” message if the times are too close.

There needs to be at least 1.5 hours between tours or you get the "conflict" message.  That's how it was explained to me by an O rep.

  8. Whoa, worst cruise I was ever on was a HAL Alaska cruise. HAL used to be a pretty decent line until Carnival bought them. The ship was OK, but the food was almost inedible.  They had a midnight dessert buffet.  Everything was stale and tasted like it came out of a box of Betty Crocker mix.  My last HAL trip.
