Kids want to stay in kids club and wife wants to stay on ship (to make most of kids being in kids club!)
I'd to have a quick look around Nassau, maybe visit the beach for a quick walk, stop somewhere for a beer or two etc.
Not all day - just maybe a few hours.
Any recommendations?

yeh OK so the boats sitting in the harbour and going nowhere but whats the rush?
I assume you get breakfast on that day but everything else is closed? Why not take you're time and chill?
I guess at some point they will make you leave but I really don't want to rush around and/or queue to leave.....

Right. We've got a teenager with us who is likely to wander off and do his own thing.
If one of us and him pays $5 we can text each other on board?
-
OK so you can take 12 cans per person on board?
Are there fridges in the cabins though?
Surely you're not allowed to go to dinner with a bag full of cans from your room under your arm?

Four of us with 2 kids. 4 day cruise. Not cheap ($5 and $8 per day)
And you get charged for 4th day where you're off the boat in the morning.
Worth it? Or pay as you go?
-
I don't remember pre-booking price comparisons, but they do offer fairly good deals if you book the first day.

Not cheap is it?
Better to pre-book or wait until special offers on baord?

That is correct! However with FTTF you can check in when port opens and be one of the first to board the ship. So your check in time doesn’t matter with FTTF.

Ah so I dont even have to bother booking a checkin time because I've got FTTF? I can just show up when I want?

Not cheap to park at the port I see?
I see there are other offsite options - how much hassle and how much cheaper?
-
Rest of my family are not keen on seeing Nassau at all. One option is Atlantis but it aint cheap is it?
Not sure if its worth all the hassle?
Other than that might just be me going for a look around Nassau?

We've got a 14 year old and a 5 year old.
5 year old will love the kids club but how do they get in touch with you in the event of a problem?
14 year old will probably wander around a bit and do his own thing - how do we keep track and/or find each other or do you just have to arrange to meet at certain time?
-
I've read somewhere that if you book a checkin time that you can check in that time or any time AFTER that? Is that correct or do you still need to turn up in your "window"?
Also, we've paid for FTTF - does this make a difference?

Might I suggest that you consider an OV cabin instead of a balcony? I suspect you are considering either Liberty or Victory and on those ships, the 35sf space of a balcony is incorporated into the inside space of the OV cabins. And if you were to consider a 7 day cruise, choose one of the Dream class or Vista class ships, because they have OV cabins with a split bath: one bath has toilet, sink, shower and the second has sink and small tub/shower. EM
Whats an OV cabin? I think its the Liberty

Like most things cruising, what is tight for one family might be very acceptable (for the savings) for another. When my kids were 5 they would have found the bunk a fun adventure:D
A 3 night is pretty short, I could find a way to make it work - you likely won't have too much luggage. Balconies we have stayed in were a sofa bed (probably full size) and two twins pushed together to make a king rather than a double - my reference is US sizing, not sure if different in UK.
You might want to book near the spa/gym and make use of their showers to ease the crowding when everyone is getting ready.
Another option would be two inside cabins - for only 3 days you might find it ok to not have the balcony.
Consider what is most important to you (space, view, cost) and decide what you are willing to sacrifice to get the thing you want most. Enjoy your cruise:cool:
Now thats an idea - you could use the spa showers without using the spa?
I think our 5 year old will love it but not so sure about our grumpy 14 year old. BUT its only 3 days.
To be honest, our first cruise so I'd like a balcony. Like the idea of sitting out there - and of course its a little bit more space.
(BTW - is the railing big on the balcony i.e. ok for a 5 year not to climb over in 2 seconds)
-
There are plenty of public toilets on board but they are located mostly near to public areas public areas. So their proximity to your cabin will depend on your location.
But we're talking minutes walk?
-
Alcohol not too bothered. Confused about soft drinks though which kids will drink tons of....
Food. Again, premium restaurants not too bothered - kids wont care. (and I can get a steak in Orlando before/after the cruise). Is the "free" food ok though? Only doing 3 days cruise so I guess theres plenty of choice to last this long?
-
I'm guessing are plentiful and close to the cabins?
Thinking about 4 of us in a cabin with just one toilet. Inc a teen who thinks nothing of spending an hour in there. Not so good with a 5 year old whos dying to go!
I could shove the teen out the door to use the public ones while rest of us are able to use the cabin one/have a shower.

Looking at balcony cabins with Carnival for a 3 night trip from Florida. 2 Adults, one 14 year old and a 5 year old.
Looks very small to me -especially with a big lumpy teenager! Looks like they have a pull down top bunk, sofa bed and a double bed.
We were thinking of having one balcony room, then one inside room opposite but its a fair bit more expensive :-(
So why the rush to get off at the end of the cruise?

Yeh I understand people have planes to catch etc. With us we're just going back to our rented accomodation in orlando for the last few days of our holidays.
Appreciate they need to turn the boat around and of course don't want to hang around too long but I'd rather not rush/queue to get off and have a leisurely breakfast.....
