My view is that they are GIFT cards, not necessarily meant for someone to use as a savings account towards a future cruise, my bank has an option to put money aside towards a vacation or special purchase and that account is interest earning. My opinion is that a gift card is meant to be given to an individual or individuals as a gift, I don't see the logic in buying them for yourself as one way or another you are paying out of pocket, just save your money for the cruise and don't worry about getting or not getting refunds for unused portions of a gift card. There is not a way to please everyone and i think the intention of the program is very good.

My logic is I take money I save and purchase OBC via my seamiles card and reap double points.

If I just take the cash and apply it I get nothing. Works for me cause I always get OBC via the rewards.

I would imagine it's like any other gift card, if you present a $25 gift card at Target for a $12 purchase you still have a $13 balance on your card. Target wouldn't give you a cash refund of that $13 but it is still available for you to use.

Not according to their website. Any unused money is Non refundable.. Hoping for better clarification on this.

You can get any or all the cash out of your onboard acount at any slot machine in the casino, easy peasy.

Yes that is a good plan as long as they do not put a stop to it. :). I have not decided which way to go with them yet for our Jan cruise. Part of me says try it, and part of me says just call in the OBC as I have done in the past.

I called the gift card section yesterday with a few questions and this is what I have been told.

1.Q. Can I use the card around the ship?

A. No you have to apply it to your sail and sign account.

2. Q. Ok, If I apply $500.00 in gift card OBC but only spend $400.00 will they issue me a credit or antother card?

A. Neither, any unused portion is NON Refundable.

3. Q. So I am better off just putting cash in as an OBC because they will refund the unused amount correct?

A. That is correct.

To me I really like the idea of the gift card, it would be nice to give as a gift to help pay down someone's cruise, but I see Carnival making ALOT of money on this too, because of all the loose few dollars not used.:cool:

I sure hope they come up with something a little clearer on the left over part. Oh and you can by up to 5 cards for the .95 cent shipping so 1 card and 5 cards at the same time is the same shipping cost.

Now that Fascination is getting the Blue Iguana we want to go again. We are considering end January or February - If it weren't for the job schedule... :rolleyes:

I am really sorry to see someone pi$$ed in your corn flakes! Really what does it matter to you and what do you really care about what others do on their family vacation. All you are doing with this thread is getting something stirred up for people to talk about.

LOLOL :) I could care less if parents want to take their kids, they do not tell me how to spend my vacation dollars and I do not tell them how to spend theirs.

We want to go cave-tubing with this tour company. I have a lot of good this about them. The question is My boyfriend and I both want do the cave tubing but he want to add the zip lining to his. I do not want to zip line. Can he do that and still stay with me during the caves?

We used VIV twice and if you email them yes you can add one for both Cave/Zip and one for Cave only. They are great! They also provide lunch after the tour, but like poster above said I snack may come in handy!:)

PS they do one tour first then the next so if Zip is first you will watch and take pictures then you will all go tubing!

There is an older bartender at the main atrium bar his name is Tommy he is great and not to be missed!

BUT in 2006 I walked up to a quarter machine (back when they took quarters and paid in cash). Put in a quarter and the machine would not take it.

Looked closer and saw the cash out light was on, so hit the button and it kicked out just under $270.00 in quarters!! filled a bucket to the top! and paid half of my next cruise!!:D

Well it all started off as a joke with my wife's sister, but now she travels everywhere with a little plastic penis.

I would post a few pics of some of the places it has traveled but knowing how so many people get their panties in a wad, I would probably be banned for life:rolleyes:

But we have pictures of him (Sneaky Pete) all over the Carribean, on Cruise ships, Dominican Republic, Casinos in Canada, on the brink of Niagara falls, flying at 36,000 feet and the list goes on and on!

Heck this little guy has seem more action than alot of real ones (trip wise that is)...:D

We don't mind the cold, at least not the FLORIDA cold :D

 

I will put you on my calendar, but it all depends on the time of sunset. There are about two months in the winter when it is too dark by the time the ship comes to get good photo's. I will get back with you closer to the time to confirm whether we will try.

Last year on the Legend we got all my family members together as a reunion type thing. My Mom and I decided to prank my little brother and his wifes door. Each day he had something put on his door and by the end of the week it was filled with crazy things.

Day two We put up a actual for sale sign and listed his truck had plenty of funny things listed and 8675309 as the number

Day Thee A wonderful letter from Betty Lou Gritkisser from Skunk Hollow KY. along with a Huge Bra hanging on the door knob! (Bra was stolen)

Day four Party here tonight with photo ops fried turkey and live band

Day five Room for rent sign by the hour! King size bed wonderful balcony view

Day Six Garage sale sign All items must go lamps bed TV Ect.

Day Seven I forget but it was a hoot and they loved seeing what may appear next!:)
