Charges for all room service with the exception of continental breakfast, price increase for the bubbles package. Being newbies it makes me wonder what else may get changed by the time we cruise.  Its not a deal breaker but we are not impressed having things changed after we paid for our cruise, never have had that happen on our land based vacations so at least in the short term it makes me annoyed...

  2. Ack, up here too little over a pound. I did have to go and buy some new clothes though as I have lost 2 inches off of my waist.

Have 86 days till our cruise so there's time to lose some more yet. Though with this weeks announcement from Carnival we are second guessing our decision to go on our first cruise to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Frustrating to have the game changed after one has paid for a trip.

  3. Well, as a future first time cruiser I am disappointed that what I expected to get is now not possible with room service as a complimentary benefit . Its not a deal breaker but being a newbie to this I wonder what else may be taken from "complimentary" to " minimal charge" by the time our cruise embarks. Being of limited means we need to budget and changes complicate those budgets.

Never had this happen with my paid land vacations so I'm wondering is this normal to expect if we should book with CCL in the future?

I think to a lot of people a draw to cruising  is the paying one price. Then after that almost everything is included. If this continues then I believe a lot of people will start to or go back to land vacations. I understand the cruise lines have continued to fill ships.  Now with the economy becoming so unpredictable Carnival is going to shoot themselves right in the foot.

Agreed, we are going on our first cruise in March. DW and I have usually avoided room service as it doesn't fit into our budget so we were looking forward to it. $2000 to CCL is chump change but to hard working folks like myself and many many others we expect to get what we paid for when we booked and PAID for our cruise.

That's awesome about your Dad congrats to him. My health is one of my whys for losing weight. When I started I was even walking with my cane because of my surgery on my foot and the weight was making a long recovery. Since starting I've come off all my arthritis medicine, anti depressant and cutting my blood pressure medicine in half. Today I have my physical and hoping to to come off my blood pressure meds then I will be free of taking anything. It's amazing how much losing weight can affect your physical and mental health. Have a great day everyone.

Getting off my blood pressure meds was one of the reasons I started trying to lose weight... Good Luck Paula hope the doc says its ok to quit the meds!

Great job! When you see that first digit change to a "1" it's so rewarding!

Thanks Shell!  203 is where I am stuck right now and around 185-190 would be the lightest I've been in over a decade.

We cruise in 106 days so there's still time..   I will not be the guy with the gut hanging over his speedos! ( its just wrong and nobody wants to see that! )

  7. Hi gang, Im back down 1.4#. Hitting a plateau now where its a battle and small increments is all it will be... I am getting comments that I look slimmer and that's nice.. It makes the efforts worth it. The gym has a bonus of free tanning so I'm taking advantage of small doses so I don't fry on the ship...

I'm trying to lose my weekly pound or so early since once Thursday dinner comes it's going to be tough!

Ya that will be tough... The DW and I have a tradition of going to a casino buffet as the kids have so many places to go to on Thanksgiving.. Gotta load up on salad ( will be tough as they always have great prime rib and Italian sausage and peppers ).

Woke up at 2am, so figured I'd throw the ribs on and go back to sleep. After 3 hours I wrapped in foil and headed to the gym. By 7:30 all the weekend meals are done! (And fresh, warm ribs for the missus when she gets home - night shift RN)

But I think it'll be a cigar for lunch... :classic_ninja:

I'm up 3 to 210 over the past 2 weeks.  Dave inspired me to join Planet Fitness - been going the past few days and sure enough - I miss going to a gym regularly - feels great every time I finish.  Starting out slow on the weights - not up for the lingering burn quite yet, I'll give it another week or so to get a rhythm going then push it a little.  Nice to have a variety of options for cardio.  I have several playlists of motivating (to me) tunes so I zone out and hammer away.

Dog was getting restless and just wants to run so bad.  Got a 50' spool of paracord and now we go to the park and she runs like heck.  First time she took off I got my finger in a bite and she darn near took it off - got a great rope burn out of it.  Then she came charging back (I was in a crouch calling her) and she barrelled right into me knocking me a few feet - would have made a great video.

Still loving the smoker - did a pork butt for some pulled pork that I've been eating for a week.  The sauce is a bit too sweet so will find something else for the ribs I'm doing this weekend.  The rest was due to the Halloween candy and some beer.  Hopefully with the exercise I can imbibe a bit and still make some headway.

What brand of smoker are you using? I have a Traeger.
