Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I wasn't aware that ocean cay has a dock. Assumed it was a tender port. That's great! Well, I guess its less great if my ship isn't the one that gets to use it. LOL.
  2. I'm on the seashore in April 2025, and its the same situation, but in my case at least the Seashore is there a day and a half, and departs Ocean Cay the second day at around noon. The other ship arrives in the morning of the second day, so probably most folks from the seashore will be off the island before the people from the other ship will be getting there.
  3. Im not sure I understand this? I believe I read that in order to maintain voyager club status level it is necessary that the individual cruise at least once every three years. Is this what you are referring to? So if my wife doesn't join voyager club, and doesn't get her gold status, we could theoretically wait four years before sailing with MSC, and then she could activate her status match, and even though mine expired, we would still be able to get the gold benefits when she activates at that time? If so though, she wouldn't get other benefits, including the OBC, right? If wife does activate her status match, we will both receive $50 OBC for this sailing, right? Does that amount go up with additional cruises?
  4. I was going to post similar question. I was struggling to get mine set up, because the MSC website and app stinks. But I called and the rep helped quite a bit. We have a higher status on both Princess and Norwegian. They used Princess and I got my MSC Gold status within a day. Then gave that to my TA, who called and got 10% off the cruise I had already booked. That is a huge deal. In our case it was $600 off for a YC suite. Generally the Voyager Gold perks don't look all that exciting, but the 5%+5% discount, if booking at least 6 months out, is awesome. My wife still has to get her status match, so I continue to remind her. Shes more of a procrastinator.
  5. Cool. Thanks for the replies. Was mostly curious, as it looks like the Aurea sundeck and bar is kind of adjacent to the YC sundeck pool area. Nice to know we can go wherever.
  6. Does a YC passenger also get access to the Aurea exclusive spaces? Or is that restricted to just Aurea suite passengers?
  7. Well, if everything made sense I would always be confused. Lol. Thanks.
  8. Thank you! So, they dont have an unlimited laundry package, or a per bag deal? Just a "per piece" deal? Does a pair of socks count as one or two pieces, and socks, or a pair of underwear counts the same as a pair of pants or a jacket? Seems strange.
  9. Any idea what the cost to upgrade one device, from the basic internet to the streaming? Thanks.
  10. Just booked seashore YC Grand for April 2025. Experienced (40+) cruiser, but first with MSC. Got a few questions. First, the YC comes with the basic internet. Anyone know how I upgrade to streaming for one device? I see the option to purchase the streaming, but I wouldn't think I need to pay that full price, but rather there should be just an upgrade price, right? What would the cost be for a one week cruise? Also, it looks like there is a laundry package option, but when I go to that on the website, it doesn't show any actual options to select. Is there a secret? What do the laundry packages cost. Been on lots of cruises, with most mainstream lines, but the MSC website and app is the most glitchy ever. Would like to take care of business now if possible. Insight appreciated.
  11. When my wife and I started cruising, 30+ years ago, they referred to it as the "lido buffet" (sovereign of the seas), so we still do. The buffet is always on the lido deck. Not "fancy talk", just what we have always called it.
  12. Overall, this was an excellent cruise. I would definitely book Apex again, and would not hesitate to do the infinite veranda either. Although it has some drawbacks, overall we were extremely pleased. And I was a very concerned with the infinite veranda before we got on the ship. Accommodations, food, service, entertainment, were all very good. Few negatives, including: Need more public restrooms. Depending on where you are in the public areas, frequently there are very long walks to the closest restroom. Restrooms also could have more frequent maintenance. I like the cloth hand towels, but too often they were all gone. Definitely need more recliners in the main public pool. Particularly in the sun area. I think the pool bar should open prior to 10:00 a.m. The exterior of the infinite veranda windows should be cleaned more frequently. I think ours was only cleaned once, and by that it was only hosed off. There are probably a few other things I'm not thinking of. But basically, and outstanding ship.
  13. Disembarked a little while ago. We did the self disembarkation. We were hoping to get to the airport and get in earlier flight, but no luck there. Disembarcation was a breeze. Got off the ship, and headed right to the taxi area. Jumped on a taxi, and off we were. As far as embarkation and disembarkation, this cruise was as good as it gets.
  14. The buffet. Traditionally cruise ship buffets were on the lido deck.
  15. There are rowing machines. I think two.
