I have a friend who booked 30 minutes before they took it offline. Saved about $1500. 🙂

I waited until midnight and booked :x I didn’t realize they raised the prices! I kept refreshing the page until the sale popped up. Did not realize the prices rose 😮

I was pleasantly surprised at the pricing (I wasn't looking for mermaiden voyages). I managed to grab the Panama Canal and the California to Vancouver at acceptable prices - both in central sea terrace. I often get initial sticker shock when I see the price, but then I remember that pretty much all the "extras" are included in that price (other than alcohol, of course). Compared to other lines that you need to add this in after the fact, I would say Virgin aren't too far off. I'm still debating the NY sailings, but I already have most of 2025 booked...

I’ve never sailed Virgin and frankly I thought the exact same thing (and I’ma freaking Carnival cruiser!) I feel like I’m taking crazy pills adding up all the extra stuff you get on the cruise really didn’t make it all that much more. Maybe I should have taken a VV much sooner.

We will have two nights in Honolulu on an upcoming October cruise.  We were thinking about possibly flying over to Maui to spend the night (since our cruise will not be able to stop there).  Does Carnival allow passengers to be away from the ship for the night and return the next day before sail away?

Yes. Cabo and Bermuda I was allowed to do that!

cabo was A “sail away and return”

situation and Bermuda was a 3d port situation

  5. Wow these are great replies! Thank you!

Oh yes I’m once did the 2d in Cabo but I hated having to get back on the bed boat at like 6pm. Some people were staying overnight in port. I loved being off the boat past midnight in Bermuda it was so fun drinking rainwater IPAs at 1am at the Frog and Onion.

They may not do it anymore but they used to do "Cozumel Plus" before COVID where they'd stay late into the night.

And often with ABC itineraries, you'll stay until 10PM at one of the islands. With mine it was Curacao and that island is beautiful at night.

Ohh that would be great as well!! I hate leaving so darn early JUST when the good Resturants start to open. I take the 5D Ensenada/Catalina cruise a few times a year and we always leave just before things get fun! 😞 I’m gonna go look into this one! Thank you

Asking for a friend? Is being on a repeat inaugural cruise ( not this ship’s first cruise) that important to you all? I am sorry but I just do not get it, and is Carnival truly charging a premium for the perceived uniqueness of a ship that has been around the block for several years?

Yes carnival made this to be a big deal.

Announced it on all their media outlets,  multiple news outlets, then processed to call it their “inaugural cruise” To drum up attention, acted  like it was some kinda big deal.

when I booked (first day) the cruise was 100$ more per room than any other sailing on this ship and was a lot more than any other sailing this time of year.

i didn’t look into it, (I should have) but the way they worded it I thought costa had just sold these ships pre sailing. I didn’t realize they were already used ships.

if you care about 1sts (and I certainly do) it’s a big deal. As I said call me weird but everyone likes different things. Don’t yuck someone’s yum I always say. Disappointment can exist, I’ll tell that to your friend.

Things change - inaugural sailings are often delayed - this one happens to be moved up. No guarantees in life.

A massive company like Carnival, that operates multiple other cruise lines and has 25+ ships just in carnivals fleet announced an Inaugural Sailing,

let that sink in. A billion dollar company now decided to F off those people who paid for a cruise 8+
months ago by saying “oh no biggie we are PUSHING UP the date adding a 7 day cruise.

If it was moved back? I get it. I totally understand. I’ma huge carnival fan,  I’m booked on 6 carnival cruises this year alone. I’m Plat. This isn’t my first rodeo, but to pop in a 7d “inaugural” sailing?? After announcing 8 months ago and us just basically finishing off paying to announce this?? Wow.  There’s no justifying this.

I’m feeling LIED TO. We can

make Excuses for the billion dollar company and I don’t care if I am downvoted for my comment but I am freaking PISSED. I can’t even change the date on my “inaugural cruise” I’m basically paid off at this point.

    To be very blunt

i would not have booked this cruise if it was not the inaugural. The point was is that it was inaugural. Call me weird but I was very excited for that aspect. Moving up is not a “things changed”

situation. It’s a crappy cash grab at two “inaugural sailings”  and frankly I’m pissed because I’m getting her sloppy seconds on a cruise we paid premium for due to the “inaugural”sailing claim.

i could take the cruise the week after for half the cost or take one of the other 5 boats in La harbor for 1/3rd the cost.

This website is so weird. On the same front page of this same forum is a 15 page live trip report where the folks appear to be having a great time on the same ship you mention.

Sorry you had a bad experience 😔

I love to take this website for the grain of saltiness it is 😄

Folks who have booked cruises of 5 days or less received an email explaining that the Cheers price is going up $10 a day for cruises 5 days or less.  The new price starts October 9, 2023.

Thank you for your helpful answer!! 🙂

Carnival is throwing offers at us right now; Elite, Free Suites with Fun Play, $2000 OBC...  How do you resist not booking under every "deal"?  At this point we have 5 cruises booked... and an RV for sale since we won't have time to use it next year!

Yep.. I just keep booking em..  I’ve set up payment plans and have 8 different billings a month because I booked so many cruises xD

Wow there's a lot of 'misinformation' in this thread.

    1) Paper Fun Times, delivered to your cabin, resumed recently.

    2) There's no such thing as traditional 'Midnight Buffet' anymore.  What has returned are some decent late night food offerings besides pizza. That happened in July.

    3) There are not table cloths on the vast majority of Carnival ships, even on Elegant Night.  You get a lovely little seashell on the table!

    4) At no time in the last 20+ years of cruising have I ever witnessed 90% of cruisers in suits/sportcoats in the MDR on Elegant Night. Collared shirt and khakis would be mostly the norm.  Doesn't matter if it's 3 nights to the Bahamas or a 14 night Journeys.

orrr things change pretty darn fast and this is a really helpful board to learn whats new as of this month ^.^ I sailed 6x since restart on carnival but haven’t been on board in a couple months

I received a paper Fun Times every evening in my mailbox on my Pride cruises last month.  But it was definitely slimmed down.

I hated having to go to the Coffee stop to pick one up,  that’s awesome to hear they are back!!  I didn’t get one in June or the 5 sailing before that. Really glad they restarted! Thank you 🙂
