Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thank you for your suggestions! Yes, I'm worried about disembarkation... madhouse with Uber as well as Enterprise. I've read stories on having a pre-reserved Uber and the drivers cancelled on you opting for a longer, more $$ pickup. So, the Enterprise shuttle does run but has long waits? Royal does have an expensive excursion over $200US/pp and it only gives you a few hours at the Space Centre...having a car gives more flexibility. Our flights are the next day, so we were planning to drop off the car back at IAH and stay at an airport hotel for 1 night.
  2. Thanks for sharing your great experience with Enterprise. We're still trying to work out the logistics of getting to/from our cruise... not easy!
  3. How was the service at Enterprise? Did they have a shuttle to take you to the port? Long waits? Our plans....Embarkation- taking Galveston Limo or Galveston Express from IAH to the port.( or any other shuttle recommendations?) On disembarkation - Reserving a 1-way car rental(Costco Travel Canada) from Enterprise (to go the Space Center and explore Houston) and returning the car to IAH that evening. The google reviews are are mixed for Enterprise... long waits, no cars, no pickup service as advertised? Won't the Enterprise shuttles be dropping off guests who returned rentals at the port and picking up guests for car rentals run constantly all of Sun morning? How is the service for Enterprise? Any advice appreciated! Thanks!
  4. We wanted to rent a car at Enterprise on Sunday after disembarking as we're staying in Houston post-cruise and return the car to IAH the next day. Do you know if the shuttle pick-ups at the port to bring you to Enterprise? There are conflicting reviews about Enterprise... no shuttle, poor service, no cars although you had a reservation. Any advice appreciated. Thank you!
  5. Hi Laurie! Just found your live thread. I love your writing style and enjoying your live. We are fellow Canadians from the west coast, BC joining you on this TA. I love the bonus Disneyworld. The last time we were there were when our kids were teenagers... so many new sights. We will definitely have to visit DW soon. Enjoy the rest of the week at Disney and we will see you aboard!
  6. Hello fellow Canadian! That is bizarre.. flying all the way west and then backtracking to fly back east. We are from the west coast, BC. We are flying to Miami via Westjet and have to fly NORTH to Calgary on leg 1, then back SOUTH to ATL then MIA. Since Westjet changed to make Calgary its major hub, I find most flights have to go thru Calgary 1st for a layover and change of planes. WJ used to fly direct YVR-LGW, now stopover in Calgary. 😥 Anyway safe travels and see you on board!
  7. I thought you had to make reservations on board to use the Diamond+ BOGO. Do you book in advance on the cruiser planner for 2 people paying for it and then once on board, tell the restaurant that you want to use the BOGO and ask for a refund of the 2nd person? Thanks
  8. I did just that!… booked Allure just to see Mamma Mia… saw it twice… an excellent production! Book Allure to see Mamma… you will love the show.
  9. On our last 2 Alaska cruises, on Radiance and Brilliance, in Juneau we always dock at the furthest dock from town. Holland America, Princess, Celebrity get the berths closest to town. So if Royal always books a berth last, that’s why they get the furthest dock from town? I thought Princess pays more to get the dock right in town.
  10. Lol… great minds think alike… Delos was my idea too😉 DH and our 2 friends also thoroughly enjoyed Delos as well.
  11. We did this except we took the 1st ferry over and had time to see the windmills without the crowds. We then went on our Delos guided tour…amazing! Afterwards, we had plenty of time for lunch and explore the town before catching the ferry back to the ship
  12. Last year, we did DYI land trip visiting Vietnam,Malaysia, Jakarta, Siem Reap and Bali. Yes….Friendly people, delicious cheap food and beautiful scenery, sites… Angkor Wat was amazing! Spent a week in Bali…relaxed on the beaches and visited the beautiful waterfalls, temples on the island. Absolutely agree…. Although we love cruising, there are some places in the world that you can’t cruise to and land trips are great. Enjoy Bali!
  13. We cruised out of Singapore last year. We arrived at the port with our tagged luggage. There was 2 lines to drop off luggage. 1. Guests with luggage with already tagged luggage and 2. Guests that needed luggage tags. There was only a few guests in tagged luggage. We were able to quickly drop off our luggage and proceed to checkin. The line up for guests needing luggage tags was long. In NA and EU ports, luggage drop off is easy with or without tags as porters with tags are readily available. Singapore port handled luggage drop off differently.
  14. Thank you so much for the info! We have never sailed out of Galveston. I was reading a CC thread from 2022 which worried me. https://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/topic/2886759-sailing-out-of-galveston…/ Glad to hear that the ships "NOW will move in the fog" and that you have cruised every January with no delayed/late docking due to fog.
  15. We're thinking of booking a cruise next January. We would have to fly out of IAH in the afternoon after disembarkation as we have another cruise booked the next day. How often are cruise ships delayed in docking due to fog? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
