Yes...except when there is already 1000 threads on the subject.
Everybody wants to be spoon fed. He wasn't asking for an opinion he was asking for information thats already available all over this board and carnivals.
Still, I feel that your comment was snarky and uncalled for. 90% (I may be exaggerating) of the posts on cc are repetitive - so what - if there wasn't all these posts the message boards would probably be taken down due to lack of interest - bottom line - if you can't answer a question nicely - perhaps you should just ignore it - this is the last I will comment on this subject - I don't want to start an argument.

Yea...I know, I was trying to get OP to do his own homework
Why? Isn't that the purpose of posting - to get an answer?
-
What a nice person you are to post this - also for PBSteve to gather all this info in one place. Thanks from me and I'm sure the OP.

True, true and more truth!!!.... HOWEVER>>>>> if you are "worried" about the condition of the lime/ fruit in your drink (just put more alcohol in it) ......and not worried about the ice, food, or dishes on a cruise....then I might suggest that you aren't "worrying" enough. I'm a chef by trade.....I could tell you stories....and you may never eat anywhere again. *EVER* lol
I agree with everything you are saying - DON'T TELL ME- I don't want to know what goes on behind closed doors - ewwwww.

I used to do a lot of contract work for Publix and IMHO they are the best but also the most expensive big grocery store. Case in point Costco onions 79 cents a pound. The same onion at Publix $1.80 a pound. Now in all fairness I could open up an onion ring stand at the fair with the 10 pound bag I bought :>)
As a former Massachusetts resident now living in central Florida I agree with you re: Publix being VERY expensive - also, not the best quality on produce and meats - that's just my opinion. Can't believe I'd say that one of the things I would miss about "home" would be the grocery stores. LOL

Limes in our local markets are more expensive than lemons.
We're some of the very few around that have our own lime trees. Almost every house in Southern California has a lemon tree. If I was going on a cruise in the near future I'd bring my own limes.:p
(We can bring them on, but not off the ship.)

Last year I tried to bring 3 limes in my carry on cruising on Carnival Freedom out of f t Lauderdale - they were confiscated.

Mmmmmmm I don't know - $2,000 is a lot of money to me. I think I would just cruise from your nearest port (plus the kids haven't done a cruise yet - so everything will be new to them) and with the $2,000 savings put it towards another vacation- either for just you two or towards a family one. That's just my opinion.

I've read several posts/reviews about GF eating in the mdr and buffets. Maybe you can do a "gluten free" search and find them.
-
I did the bungy cord once. It worked but we didn't like that the cold air left the room - it was especially hot on our cruise. So, just used it one day and never brought one again. That's just my experience with it.

Why do people become so mean on these boards? It seems it is always the posters who are very seasoned ....:(
I agree with your comment. Lighten up people. When someone asks advice, or a question, I doubt they want to be lectured or chastised for it. Geesh.

Ok a bit off topic, you arent by any chance originally from RI or the new england area? I only ask because Hearing "wicked" used is such a new england thing , I love it though!! I myself from RI ;)
OMG-I thought the exact same thing - only I thought - Massachusetts! (I'm originally from north of Boston) LOL
We do have our own type of language!

I think you would be better off calling Sun Pass and get the correct info - for both of your questions. That's just my opinion.

Every bar should have a recipe book...that would have been a simple cocktail to look up:)
I agree - they should have looked it up and made it for her. (or maybe they are just too lazy to do so - if they didn't have a book).

I think there is a big difference in 3-day booze cruises out of florida and LA and 7 day cruises out of everywhere else.
The worst cruise I have been on was a 4 day weekend cruise out of Miami on Carnival, and one of the best was a 7 day Mexican Riviera of all things on Carnival.
(Note "worst cruise" is a relative term, as I will be on the same itinerary in 2 weeks, so "worst" ain't half bad when it comes to cruising!)
I agree with the 3 or 4 day cruises out of Miami - personally, I have never been on one of those but the cabin stewards/dining room staff had mentioned to us once that they felt those are the "worst". Even they don't like them! I did go on a 3 day out of Port Canavaral - there were a lot of partiers on that one too - but it wasn't bad for us - gave us a lot of people watching times.

I just got off the phone with carnival and I was denied the OBC because I've already made final payment.

Me too - called earlier today - they said NO. Even though the cruise is the same as I paid - I was just looking for the $150 obc. But, they said I couldn't get it. Boo hoo.
When I booked it, there was no category Early Saver.

The one in the MDR is puff pastry. The one in the Steakhouse is a cake sort of thing. Both are Delicious!
Thanks - I have had the MDR one - I like it even though it's kind of hard to eat neatly! I think I will try the apple one when we go to the Steakhouse. Thanks.
-
Hi - I see you've posted a pic of the apple dessert served in the steakhouse. Can you describe it? Is it apples on a puff pastry? Pie crust? Cake like bottom? I was thinking of ordering this - hardly anyone mentions this dessert - mostly the cheesecake or the chocolate dessert. This looks pretty good to me. Thanks.
-
Thanks for the answers about the apple dessert served in the steakhouse - I see there is another person wondering about this. I think I will try that when I go - I agree that the apple dessert in the MDR is kind of hard to eat - the "pastry" part is a bit too crunch - but it tastes good to me. If anyone comes across a pic of this apple dessert from the steakhouse - I'd appreciate if they could post it. Thanks again.

Last year on the Freedom my husband and brother-in-law wore shorts and a polo with collar every night except "elegant" night in the MDR. On that night they wore long dockers with a dress shirt. The days of dressing up are gone for them - me too.

Hi - we're looking into doing a jeep/or buggy tour in Cozumel. Carnival does offer an excursion but has anyone done this kind of tour privately? If so, please advise who, how much and how was it. Also, if you've done the Carnival one - how was that? Thanks so much in advance.
-
Gee, I'm booked for my cruise on May 18th - 24th - 6 day. Hope I'm still going! LOL

Well, I like tablecloths in the Main Dining Room. Makes me feel more like I'm in a "nice" restaurant. We use tablecloths at home if we eat at the table and not at the "counter". I think it's my Italian upbringing - ALWAYS used a tablecloth.
-
and they will give her a free bottle of wine
Do you mean that if you are celebrating your birthday in the steakhouse you get a free bottle of wine? Do you have to purchase a cake to go with that? How do you get this?
-
I actually thought the apple dessert they serve is quite good. I think it gets missed since so many rave about the chocolate sampler...too rich for me, or the CHEESECAKE....too huge and honestly, didn't think it tasted that good. Try the apple dessert if you go...yummy.
Hi - can you explain more about the apple dessert? Is it a pie? Turnover? Anyone have a pic? Thanks!

Just a reminder/heads up - if anyone will be bringing limes onboard make sure you pack them in your checked luggage - like I said before - last year I brought 3 limes in a carry on and they took them away from me and said they were not "allowed".
