  1. My guess is that they've received way too many complaints about the Windjammer and other food venues backing up with guests. Spacing out the boarding times could alleviate some of the problems.

I agree, we had a 3:00 boarding time when we cruised Allure in September. We were there at 11:20 and at 11:45 we were eating Roast Beef Sandwiches at Park Café.

I suggest that you ignore the info.

  2. :)I hate to be 'that guy' but for me this is pretty bad news. The one thing that would get me to stop cruising is if ship had fast Internet at a reasonable price.

I like a lot of things about cruising, but the one thing that trumps all others is the fact that my workaholic wife can NOT work on a ship, even if she wants to. She is forced to relax, and it does her a world of good. Yes, she checks e-mails while in port on her phone, but she doesn't bring her laptop and even if an emergency erupts, she has to delegate.

If there was fast Internet access, she'd take her computer "just in case" or "just to check on things between dinner and the show" and then work for a couple of hours. I know, because that's what she did when we took vacations on land. Finding something she enjoys where she's forced to be cut off from the Internet is a godsend. :)

    :)Like:)

  3. Hi...we'll be cruising on RCI for the first time in 20 years. Re: the casino. On Princess we can draw money on our room without a penalty or charge. Is it the same on RCI or should we bring extra cash for the slots?

    Thanks!

    There is a charge, I believe about 3% (?) I bring cash.:D

  4. Hi everyone. Well countdown is on and we are not packed. We sail out on Saturday but leave tomorrow to head up to our hotel for one night pre cruise. Things have been a little crazy here and I am just flat out of time to iron and pack carefully. I see that is it only about $1.75 per shirt (button downs) to have them pressed, sound right? If I board Saturday can I send things to be pressed that same day and get them back at a decent time the next day? I ask because formal night is Sunday I believe. I have about 9 shirts and my dress Id like to send Saturday but will need them for Sunday dinner???? Thoughts? It would really take the pressure off if I knew this were possible.

    Thank you,

Wouldn't count on it, not knowing when your luggage would arrive to your cabin.:(

  5. I've only found mention of commercial use of camera drones being banned, but can't find anything about personal use. Can you provide a link?

Also, do the Bahamas have such a ban, as that is where RCI ships are registered? And if they do, do you know for a fact that that would apply in international waters?

You know, this is a discussion board, and we really don't know. We have thoughts. (I don't think I would want it allowed.) Why don't you contact RCI?

  6. Hey, Celebrity has changed so many things that I'm a bit confused. I think I understand that if you book a future cruise onboard an X ship the OBC generated by that booking....instead of going towards the future cruise, now is given to you as OBC on the current cruise you are on.

If I book a Celebrity cruise while sailing on Royal, does the same thing apply or is the OBC for the future X sailing assigned to that sailing?

I believe, actually hope, that you are mistaken. The future cruise OBC is credited to your next booking. No way they could credit it to your current booking if you "future booked" on the final day and had no current balance on your ledger.

  7. Way too much AND ship photographers are annoying. Especially the way the try to funnel you through them to get off the ship, embark, etc. Annoying. We just go around them, and the rest of the line, politely thanking them as we go by. But I am amazed at the number of passengers that simply wait in line. We do buy some photos if its a special trip with friends or family but most of the time we don't. I'm not a tree hugger but the amount waste is staggering.

    We totally agree.......:D

  8. It's very noble of you to come to the defense of another Carnival cruiser...I interpreted the original post differently. What I read was a post designed to do nothing but rile up people on the RCI board.

Lest you or anyone else think I'm a "cheerleader" I've cruised 5 different lines, and there are things I liked and disliked about all of them. I can tell you that even on the ship I liked the least, the furthest thing from my mind within an hour of boarding was starting a thread on Cruise Critic about how unimpressed I was. I guess maybe I was just happy to be on vacation and knew there were dozens of places to explore and things to do if I encountered something closed, crowded, or not to my liking.

It kind of makes me sad that's my interpretation, but the trend on all social media these days seems to be stay quiet when things work as intended, but the second there's a problem, blast it all over the internet. Perhaps if the poster had something of a track record of posting balanced comments on Cruise Critic I'd feel differently, but as it is I saw the post as just another effort to stir the pot and get a reaction.

    I agree...well said.
