We're actually on the Sky on the Mediterranean & Italian Sojourn leaving May 21 from Venice so our ships will be crossing paths at some point!

Have they allowed independent exploration without an excursion in any of the Italian ports at all? We are supposed to sail in May and are trying to pay close attention to this as it will determine whether we make the trip or not. 

I will be on my first Viking cruise in May 2022 (Mediterranean & Italian Sojourn) and only second cruise ever. I'm curious about the cruise itinerary port arrival times that are listed in my viking journey, as the majority of them are listed as 8am. Some of the ports on this itinerary are very close to each other so are those times followed pretty strictly onboard and that is when the ship will dock? Or is that when passengers are allowed to get off the ship? Or maybe those times don't mean much at all and are just a loose idea of when we will arrive? Any insight would be greatly appreciated to help with our planning!

As you are already in Miami and trying to figure out the optimum time to arrive, you will want to know that food service will begin on board between 11:30 and Noon and end between 2 pm and 2:30 in the World Cafe and the Pool Grill.  All cabins should be ready for occupancy by 2pm and regardless of the official time of availability for your cabin category, cabins are usually ready well in advance of the stated time.

@Peregrina651 Do you know if this is also the case for arrival times when the first night is an overnight in the embarkation city?

Just out of excitement for my upcoming trip, and having never been on a Viking cruise before, I would love to see some examples or photos of Viking Daily's to get an idea of what the days can look like onboard. I've seen photos of large fruit and chocolate tables and am curious to know more about or how often they are set up, or info about lectures, movies, etc. I would love to see/hear more about cruisers past experiences!

I tell everyone going to Venice who has the evening available... the after hours tour of St. Mark's Basilica is AMAZING and totally worth the money. Google it. We did the Doge's Palace add on as well which was also very good but if you have to choose do the Basilica.

Thank you all so much for the responses! The cruise I am going on is the Mediterranean & Italian Sojourn (Venice to Barcelona) with overnights in Venice, Livorno and Barcelona but I'm most interested in spending as much time as I can exploring Venice. 

I am super excited for my upcoming cruise with Viking but I'm curious about how the overnight stops work. Is there a "curfew" or specific time that people need to be back on board the ship durning the overnight? I would love to take advantage of some of the nightlife on shore but I don't want to get my hopes up just to find out we will have to board the ship earlier than expected for the night. Going to be a blast either way! Any insight from previous cruisers would be greatly appreciated!
