  1. I need to cancel a cruise that is just a few days post-final payment, so should get everything back other than the deposit. I paid mostly with gifts cards, so would like to have Princess transfer all the payments from this booking to another existing booking rather than have all those cards refunded. Have any of you been in this situation and if so, how did it work out?

Well Op here, I am tired of getting the same loop around trying to refare my ez-air for the last week. 😂

I think the $.04 cent increase is just a way to keep me from completing the process.  I mean whoever heard of a 4 cent increase anyway.  I might just cancel and book it myself with Delta, this flexible thing isn't to flexible in my opinion.  We never have had this happen before when booking with them.  Plus it won't do any good to call, I never trust the intelligence of the rep. that I might get at any given time. 🤔

I have run into this quite a few time. Sometimes the fare goes up and sometimes down but the link never works. Usually, if you wait a few minutes and try again, you can get the fares at the new prices. Also, I have tried logging out and back in and that seems to help, too.

Yes... you have to be a paid member to access the discounted cruise gift cards.

Actually, you only have to register for the rewards program. Once you log in, click on "Discover," then "All Rewards" and scroll down until you find the Princess cards. You can purchase up to 5 per month.

  4. I can't speak specifically about the Antarctia cruise, but our best day of cruising ever was in the Sanctuary at Glacier Bay in Alaska. This was on the Coral, so different location for the Sanctuary, but it was a fabulous day and amazing viewing experience. We were provided with blankets and fleece headbands and lots of warm food and drink throughout the day. I would guess that something similar would be done in Antarctica. Go for it!

Nope...I keep a fairly close eye on that for my AMEX.  Right now the best "deal" that I can find is on the AARP website.  They are discounting Princess gift cards by 10%.  In other words...you can purchase a $500 card and only pay $450.  Not bad.  Not sure if you have to be an AARP member or not.

You do not have to be a member, just have to create an account for their rewards program.

  6. Have to agree that customer service is really lacking these days. My TA called Princess 4 different times last week and couldn't get anyone who knew how to apply gift cards as payment! You would think that accepting payment would be the first thing they were trained to do. I doubt very much that any commission my TA earns from Princess would make up for the time spent on hold and then the fruitless conversations. Very frustrating since I could apply the gift cards directly if I had booked on my own.

  7. Thanks, retird! If this is still accurate the classic package would be my pick. I haven't heard of any of those specialty coffees. I have only cruised with Princess thus far and their specialty coffees are the espresso based drinks. Thus, my coffee confusion. 🙃

Even those of us who have many, many nights at sea with Celebrity are confused by their latest wording on coffees.  Perhaps wait until you get on board to verify what's covered and then choose your package accordingly.

If I were on a shorter cruise, I would probably do that, but for 12 nights I would like to take advantage of the pre-cruise discount. Hubby is not as picky about his coffee as I am so we may get him the classic and me the premium and see how it all shakes out. Thanks for your help!

One tip here: unless you and your cabinmate need to constantly be on wifi at the same time, you only need the plan for one device. We just each take turns connecting to check email, text the kids, etc.

I need to be able to do Wordle and hubby needs to keep up with his fantasy baseball league, but that doesn't have to be at the same time. Save the money.

Great advice, especially since we will have cellular access when off ship most of the time. Thanks!

  10. Thanks for your efforts at clearing this up for me! I'm giving up trying to sort it out and have reached the (hopefully reasonable) conclusion that the Premium non-alcohol package is the way to go. I booked at the cruise only rate and pre-paid crew tips, so it appears that I can put the $200 onboard spending credit toward my drink package, correct?

    Now, on to wi-fi...😱

  11. New X cruiser here - trying to figure out which non-alcoholic drink package to go with. I've searched the board and still can't figure out what constitutes a "specialty coffee" and if there is a dollar limit on the classic non-alcoholic drinks (similar to the $9 cap on the alcoholic drinks). In other words, if I have the classic non-alcoholic package, are there certain non-alcoholic coffees that would not be included in the package? If so, would I have to pay for the entire cost of the fancy coffee or just the added cost, whatever that might be?

    Thanks for your help!

  12. The self-serve laundromat is great. I almost never run into another person. In fact, on longer cruises I like to have a cabin near the laundromat so I don't have to schlep my stuff too far. You might want to pack some laundry sheets to save a little $. There are severable brands and some are 3-in1 (wash, softener and anti-static). Really easy to use and don't take up any room in your luggage.

  13. We did a 10 day cruise in a Dophin deck aft cabin on the Enchanted a couple of weeks ago. We really enjoyed the balcony and the wake view. I'm not sure we would do it again though. The drawbacks were the vibration, which was generally not a problem (and even quite soothing at night) but really ramped up during docking maneuvers, often very early in the morning. There was also some soot on the balcony furniture occasionally. It's a nice, quiet location though since there are only 4 balcony cabins and 2 suites back there. The only other issue was covid-related. The mid-ship elevators were inaccessible due to the quarantine cabins from mid-ship forward.

We were able to get a price reduction after final payment but it had to be done as new booking because of a change in promotions. (That was 4 weeks ago and I’m still waiting for the refund.) I really think it depends on who you talk to, there are lots of new employees who don’t have all the answers. Fortunately, I have a great TA who doesn’t give up easily. The price has dropped again this week but I haven’t worked up the nerve to ask her to try again!

Update: Instead of refunding the price reduction to my credit card as promised, Princess reduced the FCC applied to the fare (from a 2020 cancelled cruise) and left a balance on my account which must be used by 12/31/22, the original expiration date of the FCC. I have a cruise booked for 01/05/23 and the Princess representative said she could not apply the balance to that cruise because of the expiration date (even though there are other FCCs on the account that had been extended to that date). TA is trying to work through the resolutions department to get things ironed out. The Princess rep suggested that we could "just take a short cruise" to use the balance this year. Not going too far on $425...

I'm often skeptical regarding the veracity of statements made by CSRs, especially those who work for cruise lines.  But I can vouch for the fact that I did submit on 11/2 and was given the OBC today.

Same here. I sent my info in on 11/3 and the credit appeared this morning.

  17. Three weeks after final payment date the fare on my January cruise dropped another $222 per person. I asked my TA to try to refare, expecting that Princess would offer OBC rather than a refund, which would have been fine with me. In fact, we will be receiving a refund for the difference. After a total of 3 refares we are saving $968 on this cruise.

I just experienced the same thing,  I am helping SIL book a cabin near us and If logged in, the fare is less than a search without logging in.

Since I wanted to change cabins, my TA had to rebook but was able to get the lower fare. Seems like Princess is offering lower prices to existing customers. Nice to know. Perhaps your SIL can get that price since you are traveling together.

  19. My TA is working on a refare for me today - second time in 3 weeks. However, the Princess agent cannot see the lower fare. I can see it when I log in to my account but if I search without logging in, the higher fare is listed. I've never experienced this before. Sent the TA a screen shot of the lower price. Hoping it will get ironed out as it was a price drop of $149pp. Total savings over the last 2 refares is $560.
