  1. We were in a sunset veranda aboard the Edge on deck 12 last month and we had to deal with soot falling onto our balcony everyday on the cruise.  We brought towels from the pool deck to our balcony and placed them over the furniture so that we could sit down without getting black soot on our clothes.  Other than the soot on the balcony, we loved this cabin.

  2. We were just in a sunset veranda on the Edge last month and we had a big problem with black soot falling onto our balcony on deck 12 everyday.  We had to bring towels from the pool to our cabin and place them over the balcony furniture in order to sit on the furniture without getting black stains on our clothes.  We could not fully enjoy the balcony due to this issue.

  3. Does anyone know how I can download my vaccination card on the Celebrity App?  My cruise leaves in a few days and when I go into the app, I do not see anything that allows me to download a copy of my vaccination card.  Can someone please explain to me how I can download my vaccination card on the app?

  4. If I purchase a night of dining in one of the speciality restaurants aboard the Edge now through my Cruise Planner while the prices are on sale, can I change the date of the reservation once I am onboard the ship?  I wanted to purchase it now while the prices are on sale but I am not sure yet what date we would like to dine in this particular speciality restaurant and we may have to change the date once onboard.

Anyone have any luck getting the 20% discount if your cabin category is sold out? We got discounts on two of our bookings, but forgot to ask about another two that are currently sold out in our cabin category as Celebrity has never allowed a price reduction in a sold out category in the past that we're aware of.

I just got off of the phone with Celebrity and the agent was able to apply the 20% discount to my booking even though our cabin category is sold out.  Last week when I called, the agent said no but I called again today, spoke with a different agent and she was able to do it.  We were only able to save $300.00 on our cabin but I am glad I called back and the Celebrity agent was able to give us the discount.  If you cabin category is sold out, call Celebrity back and speak to someone who knows how to apply the discount to sold out cabins.

We had appointments this morning.  Timely testing phone calls with results and have now printed out results from texts and my chart.  I can’t believe we can now cruise on Saturday!!!! Woo hoo!

Did you have to pay for the test at CVS?

We have arrived this morning in Roatan and are scheduled to go on a 4 hour “Discover Roatan” bus tour. I know, hard to believe we’re passing on all the beach and snorkeling tours this time too. Something tells me we won’t be seeing as many animals as last time, but it’s a beautiful day and that’s the main thing! 😎

    Ken,

How was the "Discover Roatan" tour?  Did you get to see much of the island and would you recommend it for someone who has never been to Roatan?

  8. We are considering booking a transatlantic cruise aboard the Edge next year and are trying to decide if we should book a Sunset Veranda or Aqua Class.  I was leaning toward Sunset veranda since it has a true balcony.  However, I was thinking that maybe Aqua Class would be better for a transatlantic cruise since there are so many days at sea and we would have free access to the spa.  For those of you who have sailed on an E-Class ship, is Aqua Class a better choice than Sunset veranda on transatlantic cruises with many days at sea?  All opinions appreciated.

  9. I do not understand why Celebrity is not allowing passengers to tour Mexico independently.  We did a land trip to Puerto Vallarta 2 months ago and there were absolutely no restrictions on where we could go.  We flew into the airport and no one asked for a negative covid test or proof of vaccination.  We were able to go anywhere we wanted to in the city on our own for the entire trip.  We had the same experience when we flew into Cancun earlier this year.  This makes not sense to me.  Americans can fly into Mexico and go where ever they want to independently but cruise ship passengers must take "Celebrity Approved Tours"?  We were able to go where ever we wanted to go by ourselves while in Puerto Vallarta an Cancun on our land vacations.  Why are cruise passengers being treated differently in Mexico?

  10. I am currently booked in a Sunset Veranda aboard the Edge but now I see that the Concierge Class cabins are the same price as Sunset Veranda.  Should I move up to Concierge Class for the same price or stay in the Sunset Veranda?  I do not know how much of a difference there is in these two cabins since I have never been on the Edge.  I am also not interested in acquiring additional Captain's Club points since we are already Elite.

Lack of variety at the buffet (breakfast and lunch) while areas of buffet closed(sandwich station gone, no pasta station).

I am very disappointed to hear that the sandwich and pasta stations are closed.  Could you please ask someone if they plan on opening these stations up soon?  I have a cruise on the Edge in October and I hope everything will be open by then.  I do not want to pay full price for a cruise but only receive half the product.

Made the decision, after talking to a rep at Celebrity and reading the above, to go ahead and book.  I was told by the rep to send an email to the FCC exception desk explaining why I would like/need to have my FCC extended.

Can you please provide us with the email address to the FCC exception desk that you used?

  13. I tried to get my FCC extended by just 2 days for a cruise that starts on 10-2-22 and I was told no by a supervisor.  However, she did say that there is a possibility that Celebrity could change their mind and extend the sail by date but she could not guarantee it.  I think that we all should keep calling Celebrity to complain about the 9-30-22 sail by date on these FCC.  There is strength in numbers and if enough of us complain, there is a possibility that Celebrity could extend the sail by date and allow us to use our FCC on cruises beyond 9-30-22.

I just did an online booking for a November 2022 cruise and applied an FCC as deposit and it went through as if accepted.  I since realize my FCC sail by is September 2022 mentioned here; an 'auto' email for my booking says being processed so I expect them to be reach out for money saying the FCC cannot be used.  I will respond by cancelling the reservation as I am not committed enough to put money down on anything right now.

    😞

Please reply back and let us know if your FCC is indeed accepted.

  15. Does anyone think that Celebrity will extend the sail by date of 9-30-22 on the Future Cruise Certificates that are currently being issued on canceled cruises?  In my opinion, this sail by date of 9-30-22 is very unfair given the fact that Celebrity is still cancelling cruises and we don't have a realistic date as to when cruising will return to full service.  In my opinion, Future Cruise Certificates issued for cruises that were canceled by Celebrity should be good until at least the end of 2022.

  16. Does Celebrity offer transfers from Yokohama to downtown Tokyo for those of us who will be staying a few days in Tokyo after our cruise?  If Celebrity does not offer downtown transfers, can someone recommend how we should get to Tokyo from Yokohama?  I have never been to Tokyo before so this will be something new for us to figure out.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I was of the understanding that early payment in any amount above the deposit has no impact on one's ability to refare a booking prior to final payment. Can you direct me to the Celebrity webpage indicating that you lose the right to refare if you pay more than the deposit?

I was told by a Celebrity agent that if you pay for the cruise in full and there is no balance due, you cannot have the fare repriced if the price you originally paid goes down.

I've never considered the possibility of splitting FCCs in this manner. I'm curious as to what benefit you'd get from only paying the deposit amount now. I can understand not paying any more than you have to when it's money that you could be gaining (minimal) interest on, but with an FCC, I can't think of an advantage.

The benefit of only paying the deposit now is that I can have the cruise fare repriced if the price goes down before final payment.  If I use the FCC to pay the balance in full now, I would not be able to obtain a price adjustment if the price on the cruise goes down several months from now.

  19. Does anyone know if you can use a portion of a Future Cruise Credit to pay just the deposit amount on a cruise or do you have apply the whole credit to the cruise when you book it?  I have a FCC that I am going to use to pay for a cruise, but for now, I would rather just us it to pay the $900.00 deposit amount and I will apply the rest of the FCC to the remaining balance later.  Is it possible to do this?

  20. We had a Greece and Turkey cruise aboard the Edge scheduled for July of this year.  Celebrity canceled the cruise in January and offered us a refund or a 125% FCC.  They would not let us do a Lift and Shift.  We accepted the 125 % FCC and were planning on using it on the Edge in October of 2022 since that is the only month the Edge is doing that same itinerary next year.  When we received the FCC, we found out that the sail by date is 9-30-22, which means we cannot use it on the only Edge cruise that is doing this same itinerary next year in October.  I am very disappointed that these FCC have sail by dates of 9-30-22, especially since their European season does not end until November.  In the beginning of the pandemic, Celebrity was very generous and flexible with customers who had canceled cruises.  Now, I don't believe that is the case.  Now, I am stuck with a 125 % FCC that I have to use by 9-30-22 and there are no Edge class ships that are doing our canceled itinerary before 9-30-22.  The only option we have for this itinerary next year is the Reflection and I hear that is a downgrade from the Edge.

If my Celebrity July 2021 cruise is cancelled is there a possibility the FCC date will be extended beyond Sept 2022?

That is a very good question.  The FCC sail by date should be extended beyond Sept 2022 on all European cruises that are canceled since Celebrity's European season does not end until November.  We should be able to use our FCC on any European cruise in 2022, including the sailings that fall in Oct 2022.  I hope Celebrity extends this date.

  22. Normally, when the price of a cruise we have booked goes down before final payment, Celebrity will adjust the price of the cruise if I call and request it.  Does anyone know how this works if you paid for the cruise with a Future Cruise Credit?  If the price of the cruise goes down before final payment, will Celebrity adjust the price and give me the difference in another Future Cruise Credit?
