Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. This isn't exactly related to the topic, but more of a general plea for help. I noticed that in the Princess Cruise line "section," there's a discussion board about the ships' captains and crews. I found the board useful and wanted to find a similar board for Carnival Cruise Lines (I'm trying to figure out if the cruise director we had last year is still with Carnival -- she was really good at her job), but after multiple searches in the Carnival Cruise Line boards (variations on "cruise director, crew," etc.) I've repeatedly come up dry. If any of the mods (or anyone else for that matter) can point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  2. Good to know, my wife, daughter and I are taking our first Princess cruise in December, so the boarding time slot is one less thing to worry about. Thanks!
  3. I do have some questions, and I'll find the appropriate forum(s) to post them to. Thanks again for the info!
  4. Agree 100%. The "command climate" (or whatever term one might choose to use) that a senior leader sets (no matter what the industry or business) is always noticeable by the public/customer base. The captain that you mention above (skipped the bridge reception) was probably what we referred to as "Retired On Active Duty (ROAD)."
  5. I have a quick question from the "cheap seats." I understand the reason for posting the lists (presumably some Cruise Directors are better than others, etc.), but are there any CDs or Captains that people need to watch out for? I consider myself as new to cruising (only gone twice -- Royal Caribbean and Carnival), so thanks for your patience. Also, I'd be interested to hear how Princess stacks up against RCCL, Carnival, Norwegian, etc. Thanks.
  6. My wife and I are booked on the 4-19 December NCL Bliss Panama Canal tour, and one of the offerings onboard is the "behind the scenes" tour of the ship. I'm interested in possibly booking this, but at $129 a head I'm a bit hesitant. I looked for any threads that specifically rated ship tours (NCL in general and the Bliss in particular), but was not successful, so I'm rolling the dice at possibly invoking the ire of the moderators for trying to start a new threat on an existing topic. *crosses fingers for luck*😆🤞 What I'd specifically like to know is, for those who have taken the tour, either on the Bliss or another NCL ship, what was your impression? Was it informative? Was it a waste of time you could have used to do something else (pool, bar, nap, etc.)? Was it worth the price? This is my/our first cruise with NCL, so it will likely be a while before I have the loyalty status to get a free or reduced-price tour, but hopefully that will eventually happen. Thanks for sharing your experience and input. Philip
  7. Just found the dailies from the January 2023 cruise in another thread and am attaching them here. Haven't read through them yet, but I figure they'll answer a lot of my questions, hopefully you get the same result. P.S. What part of SD do you live in? I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City from 1987 -- 1992. Both our daughters were born at the base hospital. NCL Bliss 15d Panama Canal Dailies -- January 2023.pdf
  8. I'm looking for the same thing, I was on chat with NCL and the chat rep suggested searching for a Facebook group for Bliss cruises as a source. Haven't gotten to that yet, but will do so today and I'll send you a copy of the newsletters if I can get them.
  9. This is great to know, thanks for sharing. Is there any info on when reservations for other things (shows, spa, etc.) open? I want to get things locked down as early as possible for our cruise in December. Thanks again!
