So far. We bought our first home 49 years, and we've had fire insurance coverage from the outset. But we would never cancel our insurance just because we've never had a fire so far. And it is because of the amount that we spend on cruises that we view a night in a hotel as dirt cheap insurance.

I hear you, but not the same thing, or reasoning.

Peace, have a nice a safe weekend.

Not getting a vaccine is a choice, so anyone that makes that choice when they are eligible to get the vaccine is indicating they're willing to suffer the consequences.  That's not discrimination, so yes, the comparison is  a far reach.

The consequences I think will not be one sided. So I don't think it was that far a reach.

    Peace. 😊

  3. My experience with my Regent Consultant, Yamilla was not as stressful as I read here by some.

My original inaugural cruise aboard RSS Mariner was set for July 2 this year. This was cancelled in April and moved to RSS Explorer for August 2022. Yamilla told me since I was in Penthouse A on Mariner the switch to the same class on Explorer was seamless, without cost inflation. She even arranged a pretty sweet suite (😄😁😆) location, which she practically read my mind on, Deck 9 - #915.

I just had Regent arrange to handle the Visa for Istanbul for an additional 100$, which raised the insurance premium by 10$.

I was surprised how well it was handled, in fact. Mariner was doing a Western Med trip, the Explorer is doing an Eastern Med trip with mostly the same Greek ports.

I was just going to cancel outright and be refunded my deposit.

But, I'll wait and see (that same cruise is waitlisted for suites above Concierge D, except Grand and Explorer suites).

  4. Hmmm, I can't agree with most, but it all depends on timing of arrivals and willingness to pay for a hotel for one night.

That's why I always book my flights to arrive in the port city airport at least 2 to 4 hours prior to my scheduled embarkation check-in time, not when the ship actually sails; which for me at the time was about 2 to 4 hours after check-in.

Both cruises I took with Celebrity in 2019 I scheduled myself to arrive within 4 hours of my 1pm scheduled check in. However in June, my flight from TPA to FLL arrived about an hour late due to rain, but I still arrived at the port before my scheduled embarkation check-in. In December my flight arrived in MIA about 3 hours before check-in, and I sat waiting for about 2 hours before we checked-in & boarded. Both times the ships sailed at around 4pm or 5pm.

So far, I never had an issue with same day flights; with what I spent on cruises, I couldn't justify spending more on a hotel for a 1 day - unless the cruise line is paying.

Just plan your flights accordingly, this is has been my experience for both of my cruises.

I think that one would have to try very hard to find a CC member who is more courteous, polite and all around pleasant than Bellagio Cruisers.

Not this time around. Oh well.

I don't think telling someone to stay home rather then actually answering their question was not being polite, in my opinion. But, all is well.

As the original poster got their question answered, I'll unfollow here.

Hope you had a nice weekend. Peace

Where can a cruise go where the itinerary includes only  ports that are safe enough to not require “a bubble” with shore visits requiring ship excursions and masks?

Most of us would like to know, but none of us can accurately predict the future.  I am worried about my November 1, 2021 cruise from Athens.

Regent has posted this information on it's site regarding 2021: https://www.rssc.com/Regent-Returns#anchor-6. The return is staggered, so it may be subject to cancellation if conditions change in the Embarkation ports. BUT, that November sailing looks to be good. They state the whole fleet will be sailing by February 2022.

The Greek US Embassy reports that US Citizen entry into Greece is still limited, currently being at Level 3 (Previously Level4) - https://gr.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/

I would suggest connecting with the US Embassy websites for ports of interest to determine their status for cruise excursions.

Honestly, you keep repeating your same issues every post…. If you are concerned, uncertain and/or confused regarding taking a cruise, may I suggest staying home until you resolve your issues.

Finally, politeness and courtesy go far. If one can't answer a question directly with courtesy, then one should likely not attempt to do so.

Sorry for repeating myself, but there is much I don’t know about cruising in the future, and I would just like to know.

You shouldn't have to apologize. You asked a valid question, and engaging the same conversation isn't wrong. Your concerns are valid, considering the cost of a cruise with Regent.

    Good luck!

Celebrity is a mix. They host it at the martini bar. Not a good spot.

I tried to attend the gay night while on Equinox and it was just the Director and a couple of people. It didn't seem to comfortable to me. I love Martini Crush, but I wish the gathering was something else - like a little buffet setup in the conference hall that was never used on that cruise.

I did meet some friendly young gays at Sushi on 5 one night. That really seemed to be the spot.

  11. My first cruise on Regent was to sail on the RSS Mariner (Penthouse A) to the Western Mediterranean for 10 days on July 2, 2021. Cancelled in April and moved to the RSS Explorer for the Eastern Mediterranean, 10 days, same suite class & no fare change, set to sail August 2022 (final payment April 2022). They just added the 100$ Visa for Istanbul and the insurance premium went by 10$.

When updating my STEP information it reminded me of the Level 4 advisory for Greece and Turkey (as of April 2021).

We'll see if this happens. I may end up cancelling and requesting a refund of the deposit.

Regent will rebook for the Mariner guests and move them to Explorer first.

This is what my Regent Consultant did for me back in April for my July 2021 Greek cruise cancellation on RSS Mariner. It got moved to the RSS Explorer for August 2022 (no cost increase, except for the Istanbul Visa of 100$, and 10$ for insurance adjustment); the cruise isn't going west (Athens to Venice), now it's going east - Athens to Istanbul.

We'll see what happens. If I can't go, I'll ask for the deposit back and move on. ✌🏿️😕

From what you read, I just don't see that happening.  Regent as others will start as they say.  Other lines are also moving forward.

Hmm, well it would smart to just wait. Why rush into it with another COVID-19 variant already out there?

I'm glad my cruise isn't until August 2022. With final payment due in April 2022, I have more than enough to get my money back and spend it on something else.

    Peace.

  14. Hmm? This is strange as I had a sailing to Greece onboard RSS Mariner for July and that was cancelled in April.

I was able to get my booking lifted to August 2022 aboard the RSS Explorer, same suite class, at the same price for the cancelled RSS Marnier booking. I just optioned to pay the 100$ on a Visa for Istanbul.

My assumption was that Regent had cancelled all 2021 sailings.

    If that makes you happy.

'Caution' isn't always the best option.

Why not just have Grubhub deliver your meals to your home?

You won't have to wear a mask.

It will be as much fun as having meals served to your suite.

Think of the money you'll save.

The reply I made was in regards to those who want to cruise now.

It was not in support of cruising at this time.

    Peace.

Me! Me! I’ll cruise under these “horrible” conditions! 😂

About “paying to wear a mask”, my thought is that I already wear a mask to do things that I DON’T want to do, so I won’t have a problem wearing a mask to do things that I DO want to do.

Yes, I hate the mask just like anybody else, and I’d prefer not to wear it, but if that’s what I need to do to initially get cruising again, it’s a small price that I’m willing to pay IMHO.

     Finally, someone with common sense.

Caution is always the best option.

As I see it, you can have meals served to your suite and not have to wear the mask.

    1. Airplanes don't carry over 1000 people aboard.
    2. Airplanes don't keep these people onboard for more than 24 hours, domestically (unless you have a crazy flight plan).

Therefore, the CDC restrictions for cruise ships that carry well over 1000 to 6000 people, within the same space, for at least 3 consecutive days,  is deserving of those restrictions; for safety.

    Have a nice week.

    Peace.

The CDC exists to insure that best practices are put in place to further ensure that transmission of dangerous pathogens does not wipe out the population, as they have in centuries past.

The CDC is not the enemy.
