can we bring wine and bacon onboard the first day?

Unrelated, they confiscated my 13.9% alcohol margarita from buccees 750ml bottle.  They said it has to have grapes in it.

Wife's white wine Apothic bottle was ok.

  2. Yay!  Wife and I both studied hard and passed our rapid tests at CVS today.  So awesome it was only 1 mile down the street.  Results printed and tucked in with vaxx cards and passports.  Only took 18 months of rescheduling, but now its finally time to Honeymoon!!!

  3. I haven't been a married man for very long....   My wife would kill me if she couldn't go and I went without her instead of rebooking it for later.

If its paid for, I don't think it matters if she's a no-show.

It sounded like Carnival initially was going to split them up, but since it was after dinner on the last night they decided that they could stay together.

It was offered, they declined.  Carnival allowed it.  Weak enforcement.  At the very least the negative passenger should have complied with quarantine voluntarily if he wasn't willing to switch rooms.

Just saw a blurb about it on my local Phoenix news this a.m.

Story hit the local news in Houston today also.

    Carnival's statement:

"Carnival has implemented a suite of protocols that are designed to flex up as needed to adapt to the changing public health situation related to COVID-19. We meet the standards for a vaccinated cruise as defined by the CDC, with at least 95 percent of our guests and all of our crew being vaccinated, and then implemented additional measures, as we are now requiring vaccinated guests to present both proof of vaccination and a negative COVID test at check-in. Those few guests who cannot be vaccinated are tested twice before boarding the ship, and again at debarkation. And all guests must wear masks in the indoor areas of the ship where people gather, such as dining rooms, theaters and casinos. Unfortunately, no venue on land or at sea is COVID-free right now, but we are committed to protecting the health and safety of our guests, crew and the communities we visit and have not hesitated to act quickly and go beyond existing public health guidelines.

Specifically to your question about the death of a Carnival Vista guest:

We are very sorry to hear about the death of a guest who sailed on Carnival Vista. Regrettably, there is a fair amount of disinformation about the circumstances of this matter. The guest almost certainly did not contract COVID on our ship, and she was assisted with expert medical care on board and was ultimately evacuated from Belize after we provided a resource to her family. We have continued to provide support to her family and are not going to add to their sadness by commenting further."

I don't expect masks to tighten even further. Statistically speaking, you are less likely to have a severe medical crisis if vaccinated vs. unvaccinated. I think masks will remain until there is no longer a public emergency.

With the ever-growing population of the world, it would be good if masks became a thing for all cultures when it comes to someone with symptoms of an illness containing their pathogens for the good of society.

This is a scratch on the surface of being responsible to care for ourselves as a species more than ourselves as individuals.  We have a long way to go at taking better care of the environment we live in, as the species soley responsible for the well-being of the world.

It already happened, but nobody wants to talk about it.

NCL Encore is in Orange status on the CDC page, meaning that even on a 100% vaccinated cruise there have been confirmed cases.

Orange isn't necessarily what you think it is.  It could be 1-2 covid cases.  It could be cases of flu-like illness/covid negative.  It could be new crew in quarantine or waiting for vaccine effective period- this seems to be why a lot of crew-only ships are orange.

I live in NE Texas and can't find a CVS anywhere near me that offers the rapid antigen test. When I go online like I want to schedule a test and select the rapid test it says no locations found and I put 200 miles from me in the search area. When y'all are scheduling are you able to select that test online?

I was able to.  Rapid Antigen booked online for the CVS 1 mile down the road from us.   Suburbs north of Houston.

Something to remember, CCL is sailing with 95% vaccinated, per the CDC requirement. RCCL is not, and therefore the ships must sail at a reduced capacity, per the CDC as they choose that route of doing test cruises. Also, if you look at the CDC website for ships that are being reviewed and investigated by the CDC ( color  coding) both cruiselines are bery close to each other in the amount of ships currently being reviewed by the CDC. So it appears that a cruiseline that has a massively reduced capacity is facing the same issues as one that is 95% vaccinated. That part many people leave out.

Most ships that have sailed with passengers since restart have gone to yellow status.  A few covid cases or even reported flu-like illness of ~2 crew or ~3 passengers is enough for yellow status on most ships.  That level of cases isn't worrisome.

Keep in mind that testing of the majority of passengers during or post-cruise has been non-existent.  These cases are being detected from passengers seeking tests, regular crew testing, unvaccinated pre-debark testing, and passenger tests reported to CDC by local health authorities days after a cruise.

I live 4 1/2 hours from the cruise terminal and I still drive in the night before and get a hotel, either in Galveston or Texas City.  I don't want to take a chance on traffic in the morning.

Texas City/Webster would be cheaper options than Galveston.

Well, we don't have people falling over dead in the streets or blood washing through the ditches or little Johnny isn't seeing people laying dead in the street on the way to school so there really isn't a need for enforced public quarantine. If you need to convince people to be scared then maybe it isn't all what some people say. DON'T get me wrong, I am not saying there isn't a pandemic but there is a lot of convincing still needed for some people.

There is definitely a wide gap between Covid-19 and cult classic zombie apocalypse virus or Captain Tripps.

I don't care as much what they want... and I have a balcony 😉

First rule of getting quarantined, don't talk about getting quarantined.

Also, they will probably move you to a different room in a wing where the ventilation has been modified to use outside air instead of recirculated air and/or uses better filtering.  They will likely offer to split you up from any travel companions who tested negative.  This is probably going to be on deck 1 or 2.

So what do you expect reporters to be doing? It was reported that there were about 14 people who exited that gangway but only about 4 of them positive (the rest being their traveling companions). Counting heads could be extremely misleading.

Keep an eye out for a time when 50+ come down that gangway.  Then there might be a story.  CDC/USCG & cruise lines & possibly the ports have the data.  I think I just want someone watching the watchmen when it comes to this issue.

  14. 9 minutes ago, ScottsSweetie said:

If I'm a passenger who has been tested positive, the last people I would speak to would be the press, because they have their own agenda.

I also didn't say anything about interviewing the passengers debarked from the special exit.  But on the other hand, lots of us do want to know how a cruise line or foreign ports treat these guests and what to expect if it were to happen to us on our cruise, which is the heart of what OP made this thread for.
