Had  a really bad experience tonight in QG.

Arrived about 8:10pm. Ordered starters and confirmed my main course as Dover Sole , which I had oedered at lunch time.

Wd did get our starters fairly promptly, but an hour later, we were still waiting and nothing was happening.

Her indoors, said she had enough and didn't want anything no as it was too late.

Just as we rose, they turned up, but too late as I felt the same way.

We  heard Ico quiz our waiters as to what had happened. We heard them telling him that there was no Dover Sold available and they had to go to get it. An hour later?

    We left.

    Ico profusely appologised.

Think you may have dodged a bullet. The Dover Sole that was served to me on the cruise prior to yours on QV in QG was off.

  2. Incredible photos. Thank you for sharing. Can i ask if you used your phone or a regular camera?

Also was this how it appeared to the naked eye, or does the camera lens make it clearer?

We are on the same cruise on Sunday, keeping everything crossed we get to see the too. 🤞🏻

At about 6:15pm tonight the Officer of the Watch made an announcement that the northern lights were visible off the port side and were ‘quite impressive’. She wasn’t wrong.  The display was still going after 9pm, albeit at less intensity than the first half hour or so.

At the time of the first activity the ship was on a southerly heading, roughly abeam Froya.

@jam19872016 I have had a blast following you on your journey and interacting with all of those posting. (I am getting a ribbing from my DH regarding the number of hours spent with coffee in my chair in the morning). I hope you will post something on the Cunard forum the next time you’re on board one of the Queens, even if it links back to another line. I bet if you started a Go Fund Me page many of us would contribute to buying, or renting, a tux for your next Cunard voyage because we really do want you to experience the special gala evenings. Hugs from Seattle.

Yep count me in! Great idea

Available to book for past Cunard clients at 1pm BST on Wednesday 4th Oct. On general sale 5th Oct.

    Edit

Specific cabins will be available to book, or they better had be  🙂.

Maybe the GUA conditions are a sort of Saver fare?

Do past Cunard clients get an email to link the earlier (4th October) or do you log in via My Cunard site ?

Don’t want to miss the boat ( pardon the pun) on an itinerary and our cabin selection.

Top tips on securing a booking on the pre/release date very welcome.

    Thank you

Not doing drinks package as doubt we’d drink enough to break even.  However looking at maybe the 6 or 12 bottle wine package.

Do you book this onboard or before departure? Also do they charge per bottle with some discount then taken off or is it a set price for the package chosen ?  Sorry can’t find anything on Cunard website so hope someone can advise please. Thank you

Hi we purchased the wine package on board, we spoke to the sommelier who provided us with a list of the wines currently available. The list below is the one we had in June 2023.  Each evening he deducted a little paper voucher from the booklet he provided when we had selected that evenings choice.

Whilst in no way questioning the service a member got [although if we had asked for butter, we would have got butter] I have to give my opinion on a couple of items.

I must state, as if it's not already known, I am not a fan of QM2 and I don't think Cunard per se is a luxury line but in QG, and that is the method of travel discussed by a couple of board members, you have the best of both worlds, a ship within a ship if so desired.

We know what luxurious travel/'fine dining' and being looked after is all about there isn't a cat in hell's chance we would pay the prices we do if we didn't think we were in a luxurious cabin with access to a great restaurant and a fine, decent sized ship.

The food can be subjective and our return to cruising in '22 did throw up some anomalies  which I mentioned in my musings on that cruise. However, this year we found nothing to remark upon. If the food doesn't suit, you have the luxury [yes, that word] of having whatever you like so if you fancy sausages, egg and chips on a Gala night, go ahead and order it. I'm sorry but if anyone remarks the food overall is mediocre in a QG restaurant them they must have a three star Michelin chef in their own kitchen at home.

The staff are amazing. We have wonderful yet discrete attention and were positively mothered by our butler this July although all our butlers have been great apart from one, over the years..

Are the cabins small? Don't know in comparison as we've not looked at any other cruise line but we wanted space and we got space. Anyone can do the same [if we've not already booked the cabin out 😀].

I repeat, Cunard is not a luxury line but in QG, you have the best of both worlds, a five star experience plus the rest of the ship to enjoy.

Totally agree the service and quality of food in QG on our recent QV was exceptional.

Should you decide to invite a few new friends to your room for drinks, your butler will arrange extra seating, extra mixers and beers, extra ice buckets if required, canapes, crisps and nuts.

If you want, your butler will pour the drinks. On one occasion, we asked our butler to serve the first drink, then quietly slip away.

Thank you for the information @BigMac1953 Are the additional drinks added to the final bill or part of the QG package?

  8. Thank you for taking us on your travels. It will keep us going until our trip in November.

Perhaps setting you mini challenges to find things onboard could be a regular feature.

Similar to Challenge Anneka form the old UK TV show 😁

    Safe journey
