Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Good afternoon fellow cruisers: We are relatively new to MSC Cruises and we are on MSC Seaside in October for our second adventure. One of things we ran into was trying to get reservations in a speciality restaurant such as the Butchers Cut. After running through the calendar multiple times, we were finally able to get in at the worse possible time (to me) and that on sail away on the first night. All conversations to this point were with the MSC representatives prior to the cruise. When we got on the cruise, since we were Yacht Club members, we went to the concierge’s desk and every reservation day or time we asked for was met with it was all booked up, and no reservations available. However, anytime we walked by the restaurant, they were plenty of seats available. In fact, on the first night we on board while in the restaurant, there was only one other couple in the restaurant. Most nights, the restaurant was empty. If the restaurant was empty, why could we not get a reservation even through the concierge‘s desk at the yacht club? while on board, can you just walk in and ask for a table or are these restaurant's “reservation only”? 2. Good morning: Sailing on the MSC Seaside in October and was looking at the specialty restaurant packages. However earlier cruise on the Meraviglia, we were always told “no reservations available” both at the Yacht club concierge, we booked “butchers cut” and the only time available was as the ship was initially sailing out of Port Canaveral. What we found unusual, every night we went by this restaurant (and many more), they were empty. Can you just go to the restaurant and see if they have a table available and order off the menu?
  3. Good morning: Sailing on the MSC Seaside in October and was looking at the specialty restaurant packages. However when we went on the Meraviglia in this past November. We were always told “no reservations available” both at the Yacht club concierge, we booked “butchers cut” and the only time available was as the ship was initially sailing out of Port Canaveral. However, every night we went by this restaurant (and many more), they were completely empty. Anyone else run into this problem? Can you just go to the restaurant and see if the have a table available? Thanks.
  4. Good morning; We are scheduled for a cruise on the MSC Seaside in October, 2023. One of the things we are considering renting, is the yacht club cabana for the day. I we were looking at the rental that includes the meal and drinks and it’s over $400. Our question is; is this price really worth it for two people. While I realize, you could have up to six people in there, my wife and I are traditionally quiet type travelers and don’t mingle with lots of people on cruise ships. Has anyone ever rented the cabana before at the higher price and felt like it was worth it? When you read the brochure, it says include scuba equipment, and flotation mats for up to four people, however neither of us snorkel. From what I have reviewed on this subject I find very little of people saying anything, one way or the other on this would appreciate some feedback if anybody has rented this before and what should we expect? Thanks.
