  1. Thank you. I was hoping that was the case. I don’t mind vaccines in general, but lately, I’ve begun to feel like a pincushion.
  2. Hello. We’re taking a cruise in April on Celebrity and one of the stops is the Dominican Republic. I’m reading that the CDC is recommending a typhoid vaccine and also hepatitis A and B vaccines? We’re just taking an excursion. I don’t think it even includes food, just four or five hours, and then we’re back to the ship. I don’t think any of the other ports require anything. Do people get these vaccinations before cruising if going to the Dominican Republic? Thanks
  3. Thanks. I’m not keen on snorkeling, but it looks like there is the opportunity to swim to the beach and hang out there for a bit, I think I would enjoy that, but not at the expense of my shoulder. I may just stay in the boat. I think I’ll take the tour and just play it by ear in terms of what I do and what the conditions are at that time.
  4. Thanks. So was your rotator cuff injury impacted by pushing and pulling to get back on the boat? How was your husband able to push you if he was treading water as well? Or do they dock where you can stand?
  5. Hello again. Just confirming if we start with the basic package and just don’t like the wines, that they will let us upgrade 3 days into the cruise to the premium package? And the price only increases for the remaining days? Thanks.
  6. Thank you all. The best plan seems to be to stick with the classic package and just pay the difference if we want a different wine. Thanks so much.
  7. Hello. We are sailing on Celebrity Reflection next April. We got the all inclusive package which includes the classic drink package. For alcoholic beverages we primarily drink red wine, particularly cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, merlot, red blends. We don’t need to buy a premium package to get high end wines but we do want a choice of decent reds. Is this offered in the dining areas and lounges within the classic package? I read some things that seemed to indicate red wine choices were very limited in the classic package and didn’t seem to include the common types of reds we enjoy? Thanks for the clarification.
  8. Thank you. So if I wanted to be one of the first to choose a time, then 9 PM my time on the 27th would work? Good to know I don’t have to stay up until midnight and if it did open at midnight my time and I did it first thing the following morning, I could still get early timeslots as you said. Thanks so much.
  9. Hello. We’re sailing on the Reflection on April 13, and the day we can choose our embarkation time is February 28 at midnight. is this midnight my time-I’m in California? Is it midnight Fort Lauderdale time where they’re sailing from? Also, does this mean at the stroke of midnight between the 27th and the 28th? Or between the 28th and the 29th? Thanks so much.
  10. Hi. So choosing an embark time starts at midnight. Is that Ft Lauderdale time if leaving from there? Or if not, what time zone? This thread is extremely helpful. Thank you.
  11. Very reassuring, thank you. So perhaps I should choose the more affordable Hyatt on 18th. Are there things to see and do walking distance right around there? Or is 10th street much better for that?
  12. Thanks. A taxi would be so much easier than shuttles. But why the negative reviews? We don’t want to hire a cab who doesn’t know how to get to the cruise port or doesn’t have the correct documentation to get in. How do we hire the right taxi?
  13. Thanks. The one on 18th is the first one we considered. It’s $140 cheaper for 2 nights than the one on 10th. From what you said it’s a safe neighborhood with restaurants and things of interest within walking distance? And still a good location for the cruise port, even if the one on 10th is closer? The cheaper rate and free airport shuttle are tempting.
  14. Hello. We just booked “Hyatt Place airport-south & cruise port” for 2 nights, $600 total with Hyatt membership, king bed upper floor. We booked this hotel because it seemed to be recommended a lot on CC and was close to airport and cruise port. Free airport shuttle but $15 per person to cruise port so $30 for that. Is this a good price for a decent hotel near the port or should I keep looking? Also I’m reading some negative comments about taxis and Uber to the cruise port and would rather take a shuttle that actually takes me where I need to be. I assume the hotel shuttles do that? If so it’s worth the $30 for us. Finally, if we don’t rent a car is there anything of interest in this area or easy access by taxi or other transportation? Thanks so much.
  15. Hello. We’re just booking our excursions for our Eastern Caribbean cruise on Celebrity Reflection in April. The excursion in Dominican Republic offered 3 times, noon, 12:30 and 1 PM. The ship docks at noon and leaves at 6:30. We booked the 1 PM so we don’t have to stress getting off the ship. It would get us back to the ship at 5:15, the ship leaves at 6:30. Does this give us enough time? Some of the other tours seemed to leave within a half hour of the ship docking, how can we make these tours on time? These are all Celebrity excursions so I assume they have it figured out but not sure how? Thanks.
  16. Thanks. I think we’re going to go on the Rhino Riders excursion. It looks like fun, though not sure how I’ll get back on the raft if I get off, lol. On my other post they said the tour guides could offer to help me. Having a bad shoulder I can’t lift up like I should. Even if I can’t get off the raft, it looks like fun.
  17. Thanks. The rafts don”t dock where you can stand, do they? I can’t envision how to get on the boat from the water without killing my arms. Is it worth it just for the ride if we don’t get out of the boat?
  18. Hello. Has anyone takien the rhino rider tour, it’s offered by Celebrity? It looks super fun, but I have a problem with my shoulder, and I would have a hard time pulling myself up entirely by my arms to get in the boat. Does anyone know about this tour and do they dock in the water or on the beach during their snorkel swim stop? If they dock in the water without a ladder or ramp, I’m questioning my ability to get in the boat just by the power of my arms. Thanks.
  19. Thanks, but being on the east side, does it get pretty heavy in addition or is it sheltered in someway?
  20. Thanks. I’ve been avoiding the excursions that include Orient Beach because I’m assuming there will be sargassum in April. But is that a correct assumption?
  21. Thanks. Orient would be great and give us more excursion choices. But I was under the impression there is lots of sargassum in that side of the island in April?
