  1. Thanks. Definitely history more than shopping. Number one seemed to maybe have more adventures and nature, but no? It’s just more about drinking?
  2. Thanks. How difficult will it be to get a taxi back to the ship? Is Divi Little Bay much better than Kim Sha?
  3. Hello. I’m looking at a couple of excursions with Celebrity Reflection and would appreciate any feedback on what might be best for us. These are the excursions: 1)Skyride gondola, Drakes seat lookout, Paradise point and Magen’s Bay, 2) Discover St Thomas and Magen's Bay which includes a ride along Skyline drive, Mountain top, Magen’s bay and historic downtown 3)Island tour and Magen’s Bay beach with shopping which looks similar to #2 but replaces historic downtown with mainstreet in Charlotte Amalie and is an hour longer. Has anyone taken these and do you have any recommendations? Thanks!
  4. Hello. We are looking at the excursions offered on Celebrity Reflection and would like some feedback on what is best for us. Considering: 1)the Outback Dominican Safari Adventure which has a drive through the countryside, stops at a chocolate and coffee farm, lunch and a stop at the Malecon. 2) Botanical garden, Dominican Savors and Rhythm experience with a walk through the Taino Valley Tropical park, coffee and rum tasting and Merengue music 3)Puerto Plata and cable car experience, which includes a cable car down Pico Isabel de Torres mountain, drive to Fortaleza San Felipe, visit to Parque Independencia, and a stop at the Malecon. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of these tours? The cable car tour looks tempting but not sure of any safety/maintenance issues? We’ve ridden many cable cars but not in the Caribbean. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Hello. I'm looking at excursions for St Maarten and having a hard time finding one that we want. We were hoping for a beach day, but most of the excursions are for Orient Beach which I think is likely to have Sargassum seaweed next April. From my understanding the west side beaches have much less Sargassum in general, so were were thinking Great Bay, but now I am reading about the pollution there, so that's not an option. Maho doesn't appeal to us with the planes flying overhead. The only other beach excursion listed is Kim Sha, is this an okay beach? Or is it better to just go on our own without an excursion and if so which beach would you recommend that is easy to get to and from the cruise port, is generally Sargassum free and has calm flat water for swimming? We weren't really thinking of exploring on our own, this being our first cruise, I think we would be worried about getting back to the ship, but the excursions I'm seeing really don't seem to suit. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Hi we're just reading this and were thinking of going here on an excursion in April 2024. . Is the contamination all the time or is this just something to be avoided right now? Thanks
  7. Hello. We're going on our very first cruise to the Eastern Caribbean in April on Celebrity Reflection. Puerto Rico, St Marten, St Thomas, Dominican Republic and British VI. We're looking at the excursions and don't really know where to start. Can anyone recommend particularly good ones or ones to avoid? Or are there any videos we can watch that shows or describes the excursions? Thanks!
  8. Can’t wait. You’ve all been really helpful, I’m sure I’ll have a million more questions before we cruise. Thanks again.
  9. Hi. I don’t really know how to answer that except that Polynesia hasn’t really been on my radar or the radar of anyone I know. Everyone goes to the Caribbean, Hawaii or Mexico. However I will certainly look into it for next time. Thanks.
  10. Thanks I’ll fly into FLL 2 days early and choose a 1:30 PM flight the day our cruise arrives back at FLL at 7 AM if that gives ample time to catch the 1:30 flight home.
  11. Thank you. How about the return flight. Our ship returns to Ft Lauderdale at 7 AM. I have no idea how long it takes to disembark. What time would you recommend we book a flight home same day?
  12. I was trying to use American Airlines miles, but if it’s easier and more cost-effective to just fly to Fort Lauderdale, that’s what we’ll do. Thank you so much.
  13. No, I haven’t booked the flight yet. What is the cost to get from the Miami airport to Fort Lauderdale?
  14. Thanks, that was my feeling on it, but wasn’t sure if I was perhaps overthinking it.
  15. Hello. We just booked our first cruise which leaves from Ft Lauderdale. We live in California so we have to fly to Ft Lauderdale the day before. No direct flights so we have one connection. Does anyone worry about major flight delays or lost luggage if flying the day before? Is it better to add an extra day at the cruise departure location in case of problems? That is extra time and money though. What do most folks do?
  16. We just booked! Celebrity 8 night Eastern Caribbean, mid April 2024, deluxe Veranda mid ship, flexible dining, wifi/drinks/tips package. So excited!
  17. Thanks. So still Spring breakers in mid April? And March 16 is too close to Easter? Or is this even a problem if not alot if Spring breaker use Celebrity? All things being equal we would take the March 16, 8 night cruise that includes BVI.
  18. Thank you. I will look at your suggestions. At this point focused on Celebrity for an 7 or 8 eastern Caribbean cruise, PR, STT, DR, St Maartin and maybe BVI. Looking at March 9, March 16, or 2nd or 3rd week April. We like warm swimming water(around 80 degrees), want to avoid Sargassum and minimize spring break families and partiers. Not sure though if Celebrity has a problem with this. Which dates do you recommend for this route?
  19. Thanks. What if we went in early April, is the water warmer in the Bahamas then? Of course if we go later on that particular cruise it goes to Cozumel and we have increased risk for Sargassum seaweed, lol, it's always something.
  20. Thanks. Most of the Princess Cruises go to the Bahamas. Is the water warm enough for swimming in January? I looked it up and it looks like it's only around 75 degrees that time of year? We loved the 80 degree water in Antigua in April 🙂
  21. Hello. After going in a bunch of different directions we decided we want to take our first cruise next year. Better late than never, lol. We want to go to the Caribbean. We are an active couple in our early 60’s. We don’t need an adults only cruise but would like to avoid the huge influx of families and also drunken spring break partying if possible. Easter is March 31 next year. What are the primary weeks to avoid? We're looking at Norwegian, Princess, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. Princess has a cruise we like on March 10-17 but I’m concerned that’s too close to Spring break time? Also interested in feedback on which cruise line is right for us. We want maximum port days, great excursions, active but not crazy crowd, not a huge emphasis on families, good food, good value and service, interesting varied entertainment and shows. Mid range price. It sounds like Princess and Celebrity might be best for us, but I do like some of the itineraries on Norwegian. Would that be a mistake? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
