Crazily enough, it is time for me to start planning for my next sailing already! I just disembarked the Meraviglia on October 4th with my husband and I am heading right back onboard on October 25th for a solo sailing. This is an 11-day itinerary out of NYC and I won't truly be alone as I am meeting up with several of my other solo cruising friends. Back in October of last year, I met @ESCARGO and @reeinaz, as well as another friend named Ed onboard the NCL Breakaway out of NYC to CA & NE. We were fast friends and decided to cruise together again last April. We sailed on the Meraviglia's inaugural 7-day sailing out of NYC down to Port Canaveral and the Bahamas. On that cruise, we met @raystorm who will be joining us for this sailing as well.

For this cruise, I will be flying into JFK the night before and staying at the Baltic Hotel again. My flight is scheduled to land at 8:45 pm. Hopefully, it will be on time, unlike my flight for my 9/24 sailing, as I don't want another super late night after working all day that day. Sail away for this cruise is 3:00 pm and I have an early check-in time of 10:00 am. I will likely be exhausted if I don't get to bed until well after midnight like I did last month.

I am super excited about my cabin. The Meraviglia has four "Studio Balconies," which are aft-facing balcony cabins on decks 13 and 14 designed to accommodate one passenger. I haven't been able to find any pictures or videos of them online, though there is one video of the equivalent cabin on the Bellissima (the Meraviglia's sister ship), so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. I am hoping to take some photos and videos so future cruisers don't have to blindly book one of these rooms.

As far as cruise prep, I have done almost none! All I have done is copy/paste my packing list from my September cruise and make some slight modifications to account for the extra day and the warmer weather. Hopefully, I can start taking inventory and buying any supplies I need this weekend.

I will post back here with thoughts and updates as the cruise approaches. 13 days to go!

Although we never met, we were on the inaugural NYC cruise as well. We are also on the 10/25 cruise along with 6 other neighbors and friends. I was wondering what the current shows are in both venues?

  2. We have sailed her twice before. The first time we had such a wonderful time in the Thermal Suite that we made it a daily event. The second time was this past April when she sailed for the first time out of NY. What a disaster. They couldn't dim the lights. The floor was constantly wet with standing water. The fresh towels were hard to find. Ice water and cups for hydration were nowhere to be found. I don't think they had an attendant to take care of these things. I was hoping that this has been resolved. Has anyone been recently and able to provide an update?

Do not believe they are allowing people to sit at the bar yet.  Presumably to protect the Bartenders and waitstaff.    Seating in the bar/lounge areas is open.

Saw a post elsewhere from a 'Karen' complaining that people in the bars and lounges should be required to "Sip and cover".  🍸🍺🥤   Yeah. . .   not going to happen.  🤣

The 'Karen' forgot she has the right to "Turn and Leave".

....IT IS VERY CLEAR FROM RICO'S EMAIL THAT THE COST OF TRANSPORT IS $60 FROM PORT TO PLACE AND BACK. And that is exactly how I take it.  You can think whatever your mind lets you think.

I am going to stand by what I think of your precious statements/comments.......totally weird. No need to answer. Not a question.

We were just there and spoke in depth with Rico himself. Prices do vary with the transportation at different times so the $60 US round trip is close to what we paid. He was not happy with the person that said transportation was free. He saw this post and told me himself. We had a great time there and he and his staff took care to make sure we were comfortable throughout the day. Banks beer at JUJU's is $3 US for 8.5oz bottle by the way.

  5. I’ll be up for renewal soon. If you print the form, send in a new photo and the check.... do you still have to go to the post office?

No. Just send it where the instructions tell you. I had expedited mine and had it back in a week. Don't forget to send in your old passport.

  6. Great...thank you.

So instead of 5 pulls per person they would have three. But if there is a cool bonus that would be great. I am going to check out the machines on the Escape when I get there. Last time I was on the Escape my husband and I both won $1000 on different machines. Also at the slot pull he pulled for $500 on the Wheel of Fortune machine.

The Gold Spin is sometimes a bonus multiplier. If you hit a multiplier on the Gold Spin then the wheel on top of the machine spins to see the bonus amount.

  7. We missed 3 Gold Spin bonuses because the person organizing the slot pull did not know what they were doing. He had everyone playing 3 credits ( no Gold Spin Bonus) for 5 pulls instead of 5 credits (Gold Spin Bonus) for 3 pulls. When a couple of us noticed what was happening he said it would be up to the player to decide how to play. That is like a seasoned Blackjack player sitting at a table of newbies. Very frustrating. We did end up more than doubling our money but could have been much better. Bottom line, make sure you are playing in the bonus. And if you are organizing the game, which I have done several times, control the play. The casino managers are more than happy to help you. They usually give you free stuff to give away and have a tech available to put the credits on the machine instead of putting all those bills in one by one, which is another thing this did.

  8. How far down into the water does the ladder go? Will my knee be in my chest trying to reach the first rung?

    Thanks,

As someone with knee problems myself I feel your pain. I saw some pics posted on Tripadvisor for Calabaza Sailing which shows the ladder having 4 rungs. When in the water it appears the top rung is about even with the top of the water leaving the other 3 below the water. You could probably equate it to a ladder at the deep end of a pool. It may have slight angle to it and has handrails. Just my observation not hands on experience.
