We have been lucky enough to sail in the Haven for a couple of cruises.  Have been on the Jewel several times, always a Balcony and it has always been great, but not since the refurbish.  I know it is not the same as the newer ships, please tell me about it.  Thank you

I've only stayed in a penthouse suite on the Jewel, it's Haven but doesn't have key access to the Haven space on this class of ship. We have attended some events in the Haven courtyard and there isn't much to it, it's just the pool and hot tub. Haven dining is in Moderno and that's where the Concierge works from during breakfast and lunch. I don't think there is a Haven bar. So if you like the "awayness" of the Haven, the Jewel Class ships don't have as much of that, but Moderno works well for the dining and the butler/concierge service is just as good or better.

  2. I sailed on the Sun last week. The crew is great, the ship is well maintained, but compared to newer ones, beginning to seem small and dated in layout and amenities. Nothing bad though, just not all the new bells and whistles. Big plus is the Great Outdoors area of the buffet, newer ships don't have that and it's the best place to eat!

The only advice I'd give is avoid any cabins aft of the rear stairs/elevator. The ship has some sort of ventilation issue and it stinks. Our aft balcony smelled like sewage most of the time.

Can you post a menu from the Sports Bar? I can't find one with on line searching? Also, what hours is it open? TIA

It's open until 3:00am menu is fish & chips, Reubens, burgers, kind of like The Local. I'll take a pic if we are there again. Food is only available 5:30pm until 3:00am.

She said as soon as the started moving it went away.

It was funnel smog.   Not sewage.    As I said.

Actually, the odor has persisted. The entire aft stairwell/elevator lobby smells constantly with a smell like a landfill. The cabins aft of that also have it. It isn't coming from the plumbing in our room though.

If I might ask regarding perks for the Club Balcony and Penthouse Suites. I read on another thread, you get one free bag of laundry per cruise leg in you’re in a Club Balcony. What cabin perks came with your Aft Penthouse Suite?

Butler, concierge, "exclusive" dining area for breakfast and lunch, priority boarding and priority escorts off the ship in ports and debarkation. Afternoon snacks and other goodies delivered to the room.

  6. We're at about 1/3 capacity this sailing (9/29). It's very weird! The staff are almost over-attentive because there are so few passengers. Don't turn your back on your plate at a table, it'll be whisked away. I know, sounds impossible, but its true. No elevator waiting, never see anybody in the hallways. The Effy, Cruise Next and Spa folks are like vultures, LOL.

    Had dessert for lunch.

My cruise arrives in Bermuda on October 25th at 8:00 AM 😁. Hopefully NCL takes it literally and doesn’t go off our embarkation date.

Huge relief! Last year when NCL was doing testing, I was so worried before my cruise about the test that I got sick from the stress.

Our cruise that includes a Canada port on October 4, but embarking September 29 (one day before the Canada protocols drop) still required all the documents and negative test. I hope yours is different!

I agree. If this smell is strong, is likely coming from your bathroom or a bathroom close by. I'm assuming none of the carpet in the area is wet. Tell your steward. Sometimes it's an easy fix.

Not just our room. All over the ship. Seems to be better now we're moving. Fingers crossed.

The “sewage” smell is the exhaust coming from the funnels.   It actually smells more like burning garbage.

If there was a sewage smell your steward would be horrified.

You won’t always be right in line with the ship’s exhaust.  Enjoy the hours of fresh sea air when you can have them.  But the stink from those things is just intrinsic to cruising.

Outdoors smells fine. Indoors stinky. Guess it's getting sucked in.

Your TA have created a group on that sailing, and some extra amenities can be offered to the guests booked under this group. AMO is the code for onboard credits offered for group bookings.

AMO10 = USD 10 per cabin onboard credit

AMO25 = USD 25 per cabin onboard credit

    and so on

    Thanks for the info!
