Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Same here... gotta get to 3000 somehow 😉 I'm extremely surprised that celebrity rounds UP for any partial points.
  2. I understood your comment, and nothing in there was misleading. You even have two example formulas... I'm not sure how someone wouldn't understand it.
  3. My SO is also one point away from the next tier (select), but didn't get the survey link! I wonder if only certain levels got the survey (given the tier match questions)
  4. Got the survey email as well, ended up in the spam folder (again). Might be outlook telling me something 😉
  5. Had 'premium' wifi on my last TA (Oct-Nov '23) and no big issues. Was able to stream YT without major hiccups. Starlink makes it more reliable than whatever was there before, but you are still on a moving platform, in the middle of the ocean, and bouncing off several satellites 🙂 The biggest question is how much are you willing to pay/day for it though, and snap that deal once it comes 😉 (i.e. set yourself a limit and if the prices go down and hit it, just do it)
  6. Points showed up for me as well (Canada, 11:50 eastern time)
  7. During our last TA (Nov 2023) the 'default' IP went to Piraeus Greece after leaving the spanish/portugese coast/EEE/coverage/etc. The cruise started in Barcelona, so I was expecting it to default to Spain, but nope.
  8. Crap, now that I think about it, I stopped getting emails after I called celebrity to advise them that their "you can bring cuban cigars into the USA" document was untrue and potentially a liability... hmmmm
  9. If only ALL PUPs opportunities were 50/5 points.... 🙂
  10. Didn't get any email for this, and my email settings haven't changed... ugh Thank (insert deity here) for these forums! 🙂
  11. I got mine (x2 for two separate CC members) in the second week of November
  12. Is this something specific to the .co.uk website? Anytime I go to either the USA or CAN 'versions' of the website, I can tick the "Military/etc" box; which gives out 200USD (260CAD) for most cruises that I've checked.
  13. I upgraded prior to sailing, one of those "xx% off" flash sales that displayed an upgrade from the basic to premium internet for 5.xx$/day. (We purchased the all-inclusive pre-sailling) We had a 2-device setup, with one being basic and the other premium. The speeds were different on both devices AFAIK; but I did not know about the potential wonky issues when upgrading like this. The first log in screen has a distinction between basic and premium though. I logged in the premium and ms SO used the basic login. But thanks for the tip to check that one device was indeed switched to premium. I'll keep that one handy for the next transantlantic cruise.
  14. Just returned from a 19 Oct to 2 Nov TA on the Reflection. The 'new(ish)/updated/etc' starlink was ok for internet. Of note, the capped speed on the "Premium" package was approx 550KB/s (half a megabyte / sec); and very usable with youtube videos. (Did not test netflix/disney/paramount/HBO/etc) I tested this by saturating my connection link via nord VPN and downloading big files (500-2000MB range). Note: without the VPN, the transfer would freeze after 15-30 mins; with the VPN, transfers could still freeze, but less often. A simple refresh of the browser would continue the transfer, but I 'lost' approx 10-15% of the progress (i.e if I transferred 650MB and it froze, the reload would restart the transfer at the 500-525MB mark). The overall *responsiveness* is the same on the basic and premium internet. We did experience some dips in the speeds in areas where antenna and satellite positions required a handshake/hand off to a better signal. (This lasted at most 5 minutes though). I'm glad I was able to upgrade from the Basic to Premium package for 5.xx$/day though.
  15. I just saw that TP link does have an AX3000 router model name... haha I`m looking at the GL iNet GL-MT3000 one (which has AX3000 on it, guessing its another way or writing "Wifi AX 3000MBps" or something similar): https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-mt3000/ edit: hah, apparently the "3000" in "AX3000" comes from 574mpbs + 2402mbps...
